Excellent review of the MT09 comfort seat. Thank you for taking the time out to film it. I went for the first long ride today on my MT09SP and now I'm looking at comfort seats.
I cannot recommend Spencers Motorcycle Seat Mods enough. He's a genius and did a miracle with my Triumph Street Triple R. I bet he could do wonders with either the stock or the comfort seat for the FZ-09. He's in Florida too; affordable and fast.
For reference, I'm 5'10" with 30" inseam. With the 2017 FZ-09 comfort seat, I cannot place both my feet on the ground completely. However, the balls of both feet are on the ground and controlling the FZ-09 at stops is not a problem. Basically, the seat height with the comfort seat matches the stock seat height of the R1 or R6.
WebbyRides hey man I just got this seat and did a 3+ hours 140 mile ride and only stopped once and it was a HUGE improvement over the stock seat. It's much wider in the sit area
Strangely enough I have the MT09SP and found the stock seat more comfortable than this ‘comfort seat’. I bought it only because it is higher so my legs are straighter and less cramped. Buyers are telling me to persist on using it for some miles and that it breaks in. At the moment it feels very uncomfortable, even harder than my stock seat and that it grips too much, so much so that it hard to move on the bike while riding. I think that the original seat isn’t that bad if you’re on the lighter side. I’m 80kg in weight and 5 feet 10 inches in height and just did 3400km in 12 days with the stock seat. It only hurt my buttocks on the end of each day and not by much that it kept me from riding. So in my mind, comfort is subjective to rider, rider size and weight.
just changed to this comfort seat on my 2019 MT09. Awesome awesome seat! Very comfortable and the extra height does help when riding (posture) and my legs. Im 6ft with 35in inseam. its perfect!
I went for the Shad seat, because my local dealer had one on the shelf, and I got a discount on it. For me, the stock seat was ok on A roads and back roads, where my legs are taking a bit of weight; but a 120 mile seat on motorways, where I'm sitting in one position. The Shad is all-day comfortable on motorways. It looks narrower at the front than the Yamaha comfort seat, but with less of a hump at the back, and thinner on the passenger area.
I regularly do 1200 kilometers a day on the stock seat. Once a month I'll do a big day trip through the summer. I move back to the passanger seat when I hit the highway.
thanks for the review. tues I'm picking up an fz09 w both seats. my inseam is 34, so I'm leaning towards the comfort seat. I'm betting both are better than the fz1 seat I'm coming from! thanks again!
So I’ve received my comfort seat. I fitted it and went riding. Must say, I’m not a huge fan to be honest. I was hoping for better feedback from my buttocks.... 😕 I would rate the stock seat 3/10 and the comfort seat 5/10 after 45min riding.
Striple_girl. No not really, 45 min max in the saddle and im done. I personally don’t recommend it. An Airhalk would be a better option on a stock seat so I’ve been told. You have better suspension than me to
I totally agree with the review. If your inseam is shorter than 32" forget about this seat. I'm 6 foot and have a 35" inseam and towards the tank it still kind of digs in to the inner thighs. Even though the seat is more level than stock I still feel like it scoots me forward but not as bad as the horrible stock seat.
Was wondering if you modified the comfort seat. I just purchased and fitted one on my 09 and as you well described the front section is too wide and is digging into my inner thigh. Not enjoying it that much and am thinking of taking it to an upholster and sculpting up the front a little.
TwoWheelObsession , sorry for posting twice. I should have gone to your Facebook channel and used messenger as here one can’t be sure that a post might be read or not. On your experience I’ll keep the seat as is for a few miles and see how it goes.
Hey thanks for the videos, been looking at one for myself sometime soon. I've noticed a lot of people are saying the headlights are completely inadequate for night rides, but I have yet to see a video that shows the lights aimed properly. Think you could do a quick video of that and how to adjust the lights if that were possible?
I'm in the market for an traditional-style standard bike like a Ttriumph Bonneville. but whenever I sit on an FZ 09 it feels very good ergonomically. I also have a 32 inch inseam. I'm looking for a bike with good legroom so my knees aren't bent a lot and I don't want a lot of forward lean. With the comfort seat would you say that the fzo9 would meet my requirements? Also how is the airflow over the dash? What I like about a naked bike is the air flow is pretty clean. Would you say that is true on this bike? For reference the bike Im comparing to is a 73 BMW r75.
Firstly, great video and I love the channel. Secondly, have you done a full day on this seat yet? I have the 2014 stock seat and it's killing me after a few hours. I'm planning a longer trip for next summer and I'm definetely in need of a seat upgrade. Thanks from Sweden!
Can you please tell me where you bought your seat for the FZ09 I've looked and can't find the seat like yours thanks. I like your videos very informative.
@@nolenjones3972 Heres a llink seatconcepts.com/collections/yamaha/products/yamaha-2017-fz09-mt09-2up to a comfort seat manufacture that looks almost the same, I'm not sure but I think this is the model seat they offer for 2up, they have 4 models.Comfort, Comfort GP, Comfort 2UP, Comfort Rally Tall. I feel like you ride your bike way farther back than alot of people on the fz09. I ride it like a dirt bike, all the way forward strattling the tank... so I wonder if the extra in the front would be good for me.
Does the comfort seat lift your feet much on the footpegs I'm 6ft and i feel slightly cramped with my legs and hurts my knee, i was going to get lower pegs but someone suggested to try this first
Yet again a great video. I got the bike this week and the stock seat feels too narrow in front - it feels like there's no bike between my legs (perhaps accentuated by wider seat on my previous bike). The comfy seat seems to be significantly wider in that area. Gotta find somebody who has one to butt test it. Keep up the great work 👌👌
Okej :) Hope you find it a big issue then :P I would like to see how big an improvement it would do. I wont buy the bike with these lights. And if some OK Priced lights would fix the problem, then i may consider buying it.
Could you do a comparison between your new FZ-09 and your FJR1300? I thought I wanted to buy a FJR1300 but after test riding a FJR1300 (they only had a used 2006), the 2016 FJ-09, and the 2017 FZ09. I will tell you I thought the FJR1300 or the FJ-09 would be the bike I would want between the three. I rode the 2006 FJR1300 first and it was not good. The handling was terrible. (Maybe old suspension or bad tires) Nice power etc... / Next was a used FJ-09 and with the stock wind shield it was not good either. Power was not smooth and wheelied instantly even by mistake. I did these first two with a HD type brain bucket helmet not good for no or bad windshield. I put on my Schuberth full face and tested the new 2017 FZ-09. The FZ-09 is great smooth power and fun as it could be. Last I tried an older Honda ST1300 (maybe bad tires or suspension but it rode like a pig and not as good for power. I want the FZ-09 bad at this point. Last question if I by the older FZ-09 can I get it mapped like the 2017. The price for the 2016 FZ-09 is around $7000.

Nice review! Based on this review I bought the seat for my 2014 MT09. And then I sold it again... (not blaming TwoWheelObsession!). My findings: - I did not like the look of it on my bike. The back looks way more bulky and somehow disbalances the looks of the bike. That's because the rider position is higher, which I liked, but especially because the passenger part is way higher. It kills the lean sleek look of the backside in my opinion. _ For the passenger the extra width and thickness of the seat is great! I however hardly ever ride with a passenger. - The seat is wider in the front. When standing at a traffic light the pressure of the width in the front on the inside of my legs bothered me. Yep, the comfort seat is good for a tank, but definitely not for an extended day on the road like I've just done. Slightly disappointed. The reduced ground clearance is not to be overlooked either. I'm now going to look into modifying the standard seat.
I've refitted the standard seat, and added the AirHawk cushion. WOW. Amazing. Never been so comfortable on a bike seat. Just finished 8 day 3000Km tour. Luxury. Only thing with the AirHawk is that it is a fine line to have the correct amount of air in the cushion for best comfort. It takes a few trips to get right.
I got my comfort seat a week ago.I observed the same things with you .It doesn't feel luxurious and sofa like.It puts you in a different riding position that you have to get used to.What are your thoughts after these months you use it?

is there a sit for a 2016 mt09 which does not look horiible and also does not squeeze your balls against the tank after 5 minutes drive?? It's really annoying to the point that sometimes I prefer to drive my good old 2004 bandit to just enjoy a decent, steady position without slipping into the tank all the time... Come on, no stupid mistakes on such a great bike, but maybe Yamaha did it because the mt09 is supposed to be driven wheeling most of the time and that will save your balls ... but maybe kill it... ;-)
@@TwoWheelObsession Must be personal, not sure, maybe my testicles are too sensitive... ;-). Jokes apart the majority of MT 09 first series owners feel the same. Such a fantastic bike makes you slip forward against the tank. Very annoying and makes me sometimes go back to my good old first series 600 cc Bandit. I really LOVE my MT 09 and would like to enjoy it fully, so I am going to try with another (the 3rd one) sit specifically designed to solve this issue plus the accelerator and mapping causing too much on/off in std and A mode and then it will be perfect! Especially when I hear the simphony of the Termignoni full system exhaust! Hand made, screaming like crazy at high revs and burping and rumbling when you go down from high to lower gears. Highly recommended, I prefer it to the Akrapovic (although I miss the akrapovic flames...). See comparison if interested th-cam.com/video/BLt1AGUlN5A/w-d-xo.html

Dude. This is a review of the new comfort seat. It has no such issue. Buy one.
More Gass. It will push you back. Thank me later 😗
It's such a shame that the comfort seat completely ruins the look of the bike though.
Doesn't look as sporty with the comfort seat fitted
+jumpinjacks01 I think it’s a HUGE improvement
