I bought a 15 this last summer. I have a zx6-636 as well and its has become my favorite bike. The sport bikes are fun for curvy country roads but everyday riding this bike is much more fun! The bike has so much torque the front end comes up without popping the clutch. Only down size to the bike is the fuel tank is the same size on the 09 as the 07....more fill ups. Also the suspension is a little soft....but for the money its hard to beat.
+sunnysocal07 Do you still love your FZ09? I have a Daytona 675 and I am thinking about getting the FZ09 and selling my Daytona. I love 0-60 mph acceleration. How does it compare with your ZX6-636 as far as torque? Thank you
Love it. Id say for a daily rider I have much more fun on the 09. It destroys my ZX on instant torque. Just throttling the bike brings the front end up. But if your into canyon riding more, the bike needs a little work. Suspension and steering dampener comes to mind first. But I have the zx for that so not worried about it. I always tell people not to test ride one unless they are ready to buy it. You ride one ..youll see why. I will say the zx sits a little more in the garage these days. Hope that helps!
sunnysocal07 Yes it does help. Thank you for the quick response. I'm about to test ride one 2016 in blue on Wednesday this week :) If needed suspension can be upgraded later on as well as the front forks.
+SammyOnAYammi I would trade my R6 for a FZ-09. I actually like the FJ-09 better. The R6 is great, but this would be better for the street. -Wicked Devil
+SammyOnAYammi I had a R6 before Fz09. I had both until thieves got their eyes on my R6. If you're street riding for a majority of the time the Fz09 beats the R6. The winning characteristic is the ergonomics. You are comfortable sitting in traffic and at average speeds. The bike is more fun at legal speeds. The R6 is a pure track bike. The ergonomics on it do not compromise for the street. The fun power is above 10k RPM and on the street you are in trouble and very loud even with a stock exhaust. Whereas on the Fz09 you can get to the speed limit in a hurry and not draw as much attention. TL;DR Fz09 is a better street bike, but the chassis aren't encouraging for sporty riding. R6 is the best track bike out of the box, but on the street is one of the most uncomfortable to commute.
Yeah, Yamaha has instructors leading you and following you so you don't do anything stupid. Harley-Davidson just gives you the keys and says "Have Fun" lol. Harley FTW. -Wicked Devil.
+Wicked Devil righ??? i test rode a harley and probably will again.. lol just for this... surprisingly never seen any test riding in my area in socal, ever. Always see stuff back east or north
+Wicked Devil Question: the engine is wide on the bike. Did it interfere with your riding? While stopped? After the bike had been running a while, was that part of the engine (part that sticks out) hot to the touch? I didn't notice that about the bike (from photos/videos).
Great review, went to Yamaha today trying to decide over the 07 and 09 I think i'm edging towards the 09.
the impact blue looks so much better in person, I'm picking this exact model up in June
I absolutely love it, it's good to be sitting upright, the seat could be a little softer though lol.
Nice clip, what kind of action camera did you use?
i cant wait to ride again...

I wanna see XSR900!! That color blue is so beautiful.
Great review! Your voice sounds like a weird mix of Baker and EN187.
Would this make a good street and longer trip bike? thanks !
Are they finally offering different colored forks other than GOLD for the FZ-09? Nice!
