Love my ~2014 BCM upper and SIG Romeo 4T. I was skeptical about the SIG as the cheaper and/or older models are rebranded Chinese optics, but after seeing the SAS operator Christian Craighead “Obi-wan Nairobi” using a Romeo 4T I started researching it. Found out that the Romeo 4H was used and approved with the FBI and that the 4T uses American parts and any foreign material comes from ally countries. From what I’ve found those countries are Germany (glass), Japan (circuit board and I’ve heard newer models use japanese emitters) and South Korea (emitter). It’s super clear with zero distortion due to the aspherical glass and the dot is the crispest one I’ve used personally. It’s been 100% so far. I also really want to get a new BCM Mk2 14.5 upper. I’m just not sure what barrel profile I want. The enhanced light weight barrel sounds interesting and should work fine for civilian use.
Just asked to see this two days ago and here it is - a Mk2 update. Hell yeah. I have had the 11.5" for a few years and its been awesome. Looking to get another soon.
I have the older 16 inch MK2 and love it. Also have one of the standard uppers without the BFH. BCM makes good stuff and I hope to always have at least one in my mix.
My BCM has the key mod rail and frankly it is my absolute go to gun. The weight ( or lack of it) is still amazing to me. I built or bought each of my children a rifle when they came of age and they all had different specs to their taste. Standard carbine stock, MLok, MOE, KeyMod, Pic rail, all offer something a little different. The good news is you can find just about anything to tickle your fancy.
I’m confused…the MK2 upper was first featured on this channel in Dec 2019, and as he mentions, he was showing off a prototype before that. I remember because I went out and bought one right after it was announced as available here. So how is this its debut?
My Mk2 BFH chrome lined middy upper shoots the IMI 77 grain for 3/4" groups. I've smoked the 750 yd steel easily using an 8x Burris Optic. I'll never forget how i had 3 77 grain Black Hills rounds in the bottom of my range bag and took aim at the steel silhouette i had across a valley at 830 yds. With the aforementioned Burris optic and using the DOPE i had on my Noveske SPR i was high and left d/t wind with the first shot. I made the holdover correction and hit the steel with the next two shots... in the wind,.... with an 8x optic... just impressive.
Shot my 14.5” BCM M2 ELW rifle today. After upgrading the trigger and scope, I was able to get 1.30” MOA on 5 shot group and 0.5” MOA on a 3 shot group. Previous trigger and scope kept getting me flyers that would keep me at 2MOA. Happy with it, however, the ELW barrel heats up quickly with a suppressor causing the groups to open quickly.
@@Rubeless An AR is an AR. The BCM will survive it just fine. Heck, a PSA will survive it just fine. The real difference you'll notice will be at 20K rounds, not short term torture testing.
I’ve got the 14.5 mk2 I’ve had it going on 4 years and let me tell ya- she fucks.. out of the 3500 to 4000 round ballpark worth of ammo. I’ve shot through it thus far. Keep in mind being a wide variety steel case lacquer coated steel case cheap brass expensive brass she hasn’t jammed a single fucking time I shit you not. if you want a product that you can depend on with your life Mark two is the way
For what it's worth, the MK2 upper is also optimized for shooting suppressed as it has a reworked gas expansion chamber to help direct gas away from your face.
I swear I've been a good boy this year, and I think I've earned one of these little beauties. So, Larry, if you could please put in a good word for me with Santa and/or BCM, I would greatly appreciate it. ... Seriously, though, I've been thinking about you, brother, and wish you nothing but the best.
BCM is legitimately one of the best companies in terms of price to performance in the AR market. While LAV is definitely not unbiased given his relationship with the company, BCM is still the gold standard.
@@KeterMalkuth For this reason right here.. you guys.. It's literally a cult following and it makes me want to puke. lol.. You just said "best in terms of performance" -- yet I can build a 300 PSA rifle that can "PERFORM" just as well and have similar groups. I built a 400 kit that has an FN CHF Ch lined barrel, which lasts just as long as the BCM, DD, Geissile, etc.etc. When you say 'performance" -- I don't know how you're testing or judging what that is, but clout and status don't end up on my list of things that matter. Go read the literature on BCM. They state that you are literally NOT to shoot your rifle more than 15 rounds per minute and no more than 1 shot per every 4 seconds: because if you do it will "overheat the barrel" and cause hairline fractures internally and will void your warranty. It's ridiculous. and many people have found this out the hard way after needing a return for an issue. Try to send your rifle back to them for an issue and see how they treat you. Just look up the stories that are out there-- there are plenty of videos. The best thing about these companies are their MARKETING-- and this video is a perfect example. How much do you think they had to pay Larry for him to be this loyal-- don't think about it too hard.
You didn't really touch on the Mk2 buffer system. You mentioned VLTOR, but only in reference to the stock, but the receiver extension and buffer are also improved, based on VLTOR's M-16A5 concept that they came up with for the Marine Corp. As a matter of fact, I think it'd be really cool if BCM were to offer a complete M-16A5 build, considering they sell the A4 upper receiver groups. Along with a Mk2 lower with a properly weighted buffer for a 20" inch rifle, it'd be pretty cool to get all that in one place. If they don't, I'm just going to buy the parts myself and build it!
I know this is off topic but I would like to see more stocks designed like the Reptilla Recc-e stock to where the stock is the same length and width of the mated receivers then extends at the rear end of the stock
Larry's seemed to shoot softer, but could just be a combination of the stock placement in shoulder and muzzle device (I'm unfamiliar with differences between BCM muzzle devices)
I've been him-hawing on getting a new upper for a lower I've assembled between a 16 BCM or a Sionic Weapon Systems upper, would be nice to see a review done on the Sionic, all the vids I've seen are older one's, have tou ever tried a Sionic or have considered demoing or comparing the two. Would be nice to see something up to date.
DD and BCM both have .0076 gas port sizes. Might want to run an H2 buffer. I use a sprinco blue with an h2 and it’s well balanced for even suppressor usage.
Why did BCM stay with keyMOD for so long? I built three rifles during the China flu, but never considered BCM handguards because every single one they offered was Grandpa's keyMOD. I really like that buttstock. Is it available?
Because Eric Kincel, their product development team lead, is the guy who invented KeyMod. BCM has been selling M-LOK guns and rails since 2017, but they have continued to make and try to push their KeyMod products even though nobody uses it anymore.
@@SpecJack15 Perfectly legitimate opinion; I do agree that KeyMod is a far more user-friendly system than M-LOK, and that it works fine for most people. But it didn’t perform as well as M-LOK in NSWC’s 2017 tests, and it also just looks uglier.
