@@jamescox1806 I agree. This new Accord isn’t bad looking, but it’s boring looking. The previous Accord was really good looking, to the point where me, someone who has never been a fan of Honda, would actually break my neck when one was passing by or next to me. There have actually been thoughts in my head telling me I should buy one just from the way it looks (and also knowing they are 2.0L-turbo’s and can be tuned to be pretty quick). This new Accord is so boring looking compared to the last.
Their horse outfit sucked. Total low-budget hackery. This is not the kind of content I originally subscribed to Throttle Horse for. I want to see some hands on hips, boys. 😤
I think I figured it out. The one reason people would traditionally picked the Accord over the Camry was because of its more exciting drivetrain options and driving dynamics. Now the Accord is neutered and there's far less reasons to pick this over a Camry. There's also less reasons to pick it over a Civic.
Exactly. The Civic basically does what the Accord does for cheaper. Happy that Honda is still putting a big effort into the Civic line and platform. They can takes chances with it. It'd be my choice if I had to buy a new car right now.
@@ricklynch You must not drive it very often, wow! My 2003 Camry has well over 300,000km on it already and I’ve only owned it since 2012. I’ll get a new car when the wheels fall off!
Anyone who has owned or driven a 2.0 10 speed 10th gen accord knows what a gem it really was. The aftermarket support for it was amazing. It gave you a lot of luxury for the money, and was such a good car for someone maturing in age where a civic is a little too much of a younger person car. It was an alternative to the German sedans without giving up so much performance and gaining Honda reliability. What a shame Honda killed it for this boat
I think it is a bit overrated. Yes the aftermarket was really good, but the 9th gen v6 had nearly identical performance and almost the same mpg, but with a proper exhaust note and smooth power delivery In fact if you want a sports sedan, the Accord wasn't even the best choice. That award 100% goes to the Nline or GT. Significantly more performance, better handling, steering feel was better, etc. Also the looks on the K5 was arguably better than the Accord. Now I've heard some complaints about the trans, but aside from that it's probably the car to get as an alternative to the germans. Not really the accord which was still too soft and uninspiring to drive compared to the koreans. Gotta go test drive them... They'll probably the blow you away. Only complaint is too much power for FWD, but the Accord also has traction problems.
still on a fully packaged '07 accord that's been in the family since buying it that year, i have zero complaints years later and the bass still hits too 😂
When I used to work for Honda, I had the pleasure of owning a 2020 Accord 2.0T for a couple years and that's probably one of the best cars I've driven. Maximum comfort working on harmony with amazing performance made it such a fun car. That 2.0T with the 10 speed auto was amazing!
Well said, I love my 2.0 sport so much. It’s the perfect car for me, super fun to drive, spacious, has a great ride, and great tech. Couldn’t ask for more at the price
People really dont understand the difference between a fast and a fun car. Most EVs are fast too, or rather quick, but they're not fun, performance doesent make a car fun, handling does. Old hot hatches are way slower than most family cars today but they're still more fun
My dad has a 2013 Accord EXL. Bought it CPO in 2016 for only $17,000 with 40k miles on it. Today it has 110,000 miles and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. Drove it recently and was blown away by how sharp the steering is still after 10 years and all those miles. That’s the brilliant thing with the accord - yes it’s reliable and yes it’s practical, and yes it gets little respect - but damn does it steer well.
Nice. My dad bought a 2011 4WD Accord Crosstour in 2014 with 40K miles, he still has it today with 149K on the dash and it's quick. That thing was 21K. Great deal 😀
Y'all make me feel like I drive my car too much. Bought a 2016 Malibu Limited LTZ in 2019 with 60k miles for $10,900. In July 2022, almost 3 years later, it had 160k miles. Got totaled and got $12k for it but I feel like I barely drove it, even though I out 100k miles on it in less than 3 years.
@@JoiceVaderd he was driving it a lot until covid. And my mom has a bad back now so only likes to drive and be driven in her SUV. That + WFH means he’s put on probably less than 10k miles since winter 2020.
Think I'm gonna pick up one of these down the line, really dig the subdued styling, inside and out. it's simple, and doesn't need to be anything else. don't know why but I really appreciate that.
After three months of driving this car. it's definitely much comfortable to drive than the 10th gen. from steering, quietness, suspension to the interior. it has a smaller tank but it has a range of 600mi. I love it
Loving mine as well. I don't understand why everyone feels like they need a sports car. It's a hybrid sedan! It's plenty fast at getting up to highway/passing speed, sips fuel, and is so incredibly comfortable. You won't find these features with this build quality in this price range. It's an absolute gem and I'm so glad that I test drove it vs a Camry and a Sonata instead of listening to some internet bozos.
@DaOldSchoolRapLova96 nice. I had a 92 lx manual 93 lx manual 01 v6 exl coupe 03 v6 exl sedan and now my 21 sport 2.0. I loved each and everyone of them. I would take the soundand smoothness of the v6 over the torque of the turbo 4 anyday.
I follow this channel for the sports car reviews. But I even have a good time watching you guys review the boring family cars like this one. Just a great channel.
This had to be such a hard video to write. As a car that is doing its best to be as inconspicuous as possible, while also being ubiquitous on North American roads, finding an angle to talk about had to be a real struggle. Compelling content as always, though. Here's hoping that Honda gives this thing some verve with a new variant in a few years' time.
Sadly this will probably be the last Accord done the old fashioned way, even if the truly fun V6/2.0T's are now both gone. If the aim is to steer people towards Acura then I understand, hope the gamble works out for Honda. Sure the next gen will likely be much faster in a straight line (at the expense of range) but it wont feel as light on its feet with the inevitable added weight of battery packs. Of course that can be said about any make/model that will have the same name yet very different drivetrain.
I don't understand why people are downing this new Accord. I personally think it's the best one yet! The ride is amazing, the interior is truly upscale, the tech is great, it's very comfortable and roomy, and the hybrid powertrain is absolutely flawless! I recently bought a 2024 Accord Touring and loving every minute of owning it! I have owned several different vehicles already in my lifetime and this one has by far been the best one all around. Go test drive one for yourself.
It reminds me of what happened to the Acura TSX. The first gen was great, had true VTEC on the intake AND exhaust, aluminium manifolds, double wishbone suspension, all the works that made it an enthusiast sedan. They gutted the 2nd gen TSX, made it heavier, made the gear ratios longer, cheaped out on plastic manifolds, took away true VTEC, and made it drive like a boat.
You are very right!!! It almost seems like Honda is holding a gun to their heads not to say anything bad. The car definitely doesn’t look as nice as the previous gen but they always find a way to say “it’s okay”
@@babajideogundimu8326 I mean it meets standards. It's not amazing but it's not bad. You can have a neutral position on something. It wasn't like they spoke highly of the vehicle at all in the video. It may be a downgrade from previous gen but that was because the 10th gen was above it's class now the 11th gen is back in line with the other sedans in it's class.
You don’t even have to do the review to get a like from me, I smash that like immediately after the introductions!!! Love your channel and the reviews, drag races, etc. are informative and incredibly entertaining. Thanks and keep it up!
I was waiting for this car to be released.. what could have been.. the wait time for new vehicles redirected me to purchasing a 2019 Acura TL A-Spec.. I'm glad the economy directed me that way... Vroom vroom lol 😂
2 months ago I’d have been right there with most ripping the new accord. From the pictures I’d seen I was dissapointed in the new design. I was intrigued by the interior but the exterior fell flat for me. So I went to the Honda dealer to look at a new civic touring for my sons birthday. When I walked into the showroom there was a new crv and a white touring hybrid accord. When I first looked at it I had ti go around the back of the car to make sure it was an accord because in person and in that trim it just didn’t look like the pictures I had seen. I was blown away how much better it looked in person. Then I got Inside and a salesman walked over and asked me what I thought. I simply said “ sell it for msrp and I’ll write you a check right now “. He pulled the identical car around for a test drive and after the drive I was even more enthusiastic about buying it. After reading reviews I knew it easily going to be a zippy car. But with that expectation I was really surprised how nimble it actually was. Way more than sufficient for my driving needs. What really convinced me was at cruising speed just how buttery smooth it was. The overall ride quality felt like a luxury car. Takes bumps in the road like a champ. Going into an off-ramp I let it fly around it and I was just blown away by the lack of any real noticeable body roll and how grounded and even it stayed. The interior in my opinion shits all over the previous gen. Not that it was a deciding factor but the 12.3 inch touch screen is brilliant in terms of brightness and crispness. Very very sharp screen and very responsive. The digital guagues are also really well done and sharp. I love the customizations and the visualization of how the engine , battery and motors are working together. There is zero noticeable change or feel when it’s switching between the 2. The eCVT on the highway is very competent as it has an infinite number of gear ratios. Anyone that’s on the fence or are just going by pictures and videos of the car I implore you to actually drive one. Probably the only negative of the accord lineup is the base model lx is just pitiful. It doesn’t even look like the same car. Fuel economy while not quite as good as some otter hybrids is still pretty damn good. A full tank and I’ve achieved just under 600 miles on one tank of gas. That was with some early aggressive driving to get a feel for the car. I’m pretty confident I’ll be achieving 50+ mpg soon enough. The 12 speaker Bose sound system is pretty incredible as well.
Not even you guys can make this car not boring. The accord has been on my shortlist for years, but now no 2.0, no stick, and neutered styling. Crossing it out.
This is probably a nice car. But let be honest its not for the same guys who are pumped up about the new type-r. If I wanted to have a strong sedan I would probably look at the BMWs or the audis.
2022 Sport 2.0T owner here. The more I see this new Accord the more I dislike it. Cost cutting galore - no more fog lamps, 4 way lumbar, adjustable rear headrests…even the spare tire is gone. And of course, dumping the 2.0T and 10 speed auto is a huge disappointment. They should have renamed it the Taurus.
Can’t wait to try this powertrain. Not interested in an EV, a hybrid powertrain makes more sense to me. Honda have done away with the serpentine belt, which has to be an advantage in reliability. Also, I love that Honda are still making affordable, well-built cars. All sedans should be liftbacks.
If this was so great it should have been the base power train and they should have kept the 2.0T for the sporty version. The performance of the base 1.5T and the hybrid are so close it is a joke. Honda is just looking for suckers to pander to.
I love seeing you guys review normal everyday cars! I bought a 22 WRX after seeing your review, I’m sure someone else who was on the fence about the Accord will probably give it a shot based on this too!
As someone who used to own a 2012 Camry V6, it couldn’t even pretend to be a sports car even with the brisk acceleration. However, it was great at being an inexpensive quasi-luxury car, and the extra power and being able to pass just about anyone on PA highways was a big luxury that gave the car lots of value. Honda leaving out a big motor is a huge miss for them, especially when EVs are a thing now and they all pretty much accelerate quickly. The least they could’ve done was make a hybrid that has bigger electric motors to give it at least 250 net horsepower. I suspect this Accord won’t sell as well as the prior versions.
that doesn't work with hondas e:HEV system. Which is what they put in the new accord. at wide open throttle or speeds under 60mph the wheels are only driven by the electric motor while the engine only produces electricity. at part throttle between 60 and 75ish mph the engine is connected to the front wheels via a single clutch and no wheels. so for it to have 250 hp for more than a few seconds the engine wopuld need to have 270hp.
@@M67v that is their new hybrid system. And the highest performance that's been achieved with a series hybrid, the subcategory to which the e:HEV belongs with the other subcategory being parallel hybrids, is The Koenigsegg regera. And a 4x4 e:HEV vehicle is probably in the works. Probably in the HR-V as a direct competition to the RAV4 hybrid AWD.
They shouldve done 300 hp v6. Like a 3.3L Naturally aspirated. Put all the money in a dumb reliable powertrain and a bulletproof interior. Has to last 50 years man come on, its gotta make it passed thr museums
I have worked for Honda as well like many others from the comment section but in Europe. I have tried the 10th gen Accord as well in the 2.0t with auto box trim and it was a great all round car with a very decent punch and good auto gearbox(not like the other Honda autos or CVTs- reason being it was ZF transmission), and in some ways it felt German(good way) but it wasn't in any means a drivers or sport car. For me the only real drivers Accord with a hidden tunning potential was the Accord Cl9/Acura TSX(2004-2008). That car had a great chassis, great engine and so much potential, that is why it was even used as a base for a race car by Spoon.
Hey Throttle House guys... I love your reviews! The humor you inject in your videos is fantastic! No disrespect intended, but it seemed like you had a difficult time being excited about this new Accord. I don't blame you - it's boring! Your title of the review says it all! LOL!!! You are not alone, most reviewers I've watched seem like they are really faking it to be excited about this unimpressive Accord. That being said, you did a fantastic job in your review. Keep them coming - and I'll keep watching.
"It's an Accord" USED to mean that you could stomp your foot and surprise a lot of cars, both from a dig and especially from a roll. The big V6 of yesteryears was always a fantastic engine option and swapping to the 2.0L gave us similar performance with better economy. It was a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing (as a family sedan, at least) and now, it's just a good car. That's fine for a lot of people but if reliability isn't your big concern (ie, you'll trade it in when the warranty is out), I'd probably take an Elantra N every time (and this is from the guy that's only had Hondas as family vehicles for most of his life)... Honda just lost most of the enthusiasts that need a big family sedan, I'm pretty sure. We don't have canyon roads on the way to work but we do have lots of straights and the bigger motor always gave us some grins. Now, we can listen to talk radio and marvel that it's quieter than before, mainly because we don't care to use the engine for anything other than basic motive power rather than fun.
This is exactly where I stand, I need a practical car but would also like to enjoy my everyday driving and the occasional weekend trip. I have an older accord and it's such a great car for that purpose. It's quick, nimble, stores all your groceries, and surprises a lot of people when back roads get involved. It's such an amazing formula for that certain demographic and they got rid of it. My next car will be the Elantra N.
My 07 accord is a drivers car man. It doesnt have all these assists. Its got 3.0L V6 and has like 50 more horsepower in a regular automatic trans. I think moving to 2.0T was a mistake and this too.
Looks like Honda's plan is to make Honda's well made, good value, reliable and sensible cars and migrate Acura to the performance brand. Be interesting if there is a next generation TL to see how that version of the Accord platform turns out.
You are probably on to something with the Honda/Acura strategy. In the recent past Honda has directly competed with Acura with some of their models...and in some cases, like the 2.0T Accord before the TLX was replaced, arguably surpassed Acura. They are probably trying to give them more performance, luxury, and styling differences than they had sometime between 2013-2019 or so. There is an implied rule that Honda can be either premium/semi-luxurious (new Accord) or sporty (CIvic Type R/SI), but not both. This leaves room for cars like the TLX and the new Integra to have space in the lineup by being the only way to get both performance and semi-luxury at the same time.
It all makes good sense , but: 1) Hondas recently got significantly more expensive, which is also the case for many other manufacturers. 2) What will Honda leave on the table for the rest of the world (Not the US), when people will want fast Hondas? Hondas will not be fast and Acuras simply wont be available.
@@denisszr1522 several Acura models in North America (Integra, NSX, the old TSX, and many others over the years) are rebranded as Hondas in markets where they don't sell Acura. That's likely what they will continue doing in those markets. We could also see them begin in introduce the Acura brand to more markets in the future too, similar to the way Lexus has expanded the availability of the brand worldwide rather than selling some North American Lexus models as Toyotas like they did previously.
As a future accountant, i found this car appealing as hell. I like the way it looks, not over styled but still a bit classy. I can sit in it, set the hvac and radio without having a headache. Fuel economy is wonderful too. A rational car for us, accountants, that are excited about boring yet functional things.
“I’m going to wake up and look like a Mustang…that might actually be an improvement.” “If blue were gray, this would be the blue that’s gray.” Quality content right there. That’s what I’m here for 😂
The Accord is great, I have a 2019 Accord 2.0T (10sp) and really like it. We got it as our family car, and even though I daily drive my Porsche 911 (992), I never mind grabbing the keys for the Accord.
The accord is an institution at this point. It does its very specific job so well! Sure there have been more fun accords and there have been wagons and other accord variations but at its core it was always THIS vehicle. Its just a really really good, simple way to get around relatively cheaply. Thats what it should be
Basically it's now an appliance like a Camry. And the gist of your review is that that's all it should be. I've never viewed my 2.0L Turbo and 6MT as a sports sedan, but it does have a sporty feel to it. My view is that you should be happy with whatever you get because you're going to be making a monthly payment on it. Nothing worse than making a large outlay each month on something that doesn't do anything for you. The car looks good but it is little more than a people mover. Sadly my '19 will be my last Accord.
Not everyone makes payments on their vehicle. So for me it's more about value, and 11th gen Accord for my use does not stack up to the $38k price tag. A 10th Gen 2.0t Accord did well in the family Sport sedan Under $40k segment. The 11th Gen has no real performance. They were accelerating up the hill for like 7 seconds and only gained 10 MPH, just sad. Yes it may be better planted on the curves, but don't expect to feel a rush when you exit on throttle, cause it isn't there. I am very tempted to go Audi or BMW at this point. I always viewed the Accord sport (v6 or 2.0t) as a value sport sedan. It's not going to win any street races. But at least it would put a real smile on your face with it's sporty feel.
We will need to stop calling the ICE cars "appliances". Why? because electric cars will define themselves as appliances so so much more accurately. To the point where we wont even bother to own a single transport appliance and instead share them across society We wont even drive these wheeled appliances
Lol that Mark response. Surprised Jack didn't crack up. 🦍 On a side note, does that Bose logo really need to be there on the infotainment peaking through the windshield?
I will say this: As a Honda enjoyer, If Toyota still has their Camry TRD 300hp V6 models, then I’m never going to look back at the 192hp 1.5T Accord and their 206hp hybrids. I loved the older 278hp 2017 V6 Honda Accord’s and even the 252hp 2018 2.0T Accords that used to win drag races against Ecoboom Mustangs; but if this pitiful 192hp is all they got that’s not a hybrid, then I am no longer on the market for an Accord, and the Accord is dead to me. I understand that not enough people bought these higher hp products, but it’s just sad to see the performance options of V6, V8, and 2.0T disappearing.
I have a 2018 2.0T Touring. I love my car! New updated tech and amenities on the new model notwithstanding, welcome to the more boring Accord. Gone is the character that made the Accord different than other family sedans on the road. It now looks like every other car on the road - Mustang or Taurus grill indeed. Yes! It does look VAG - you got that right! Now as an added bonus I cannot even get the more powerful engine. It's strange (maybe not so strange) that if one wants to get the driving excitement I currently enjoy in my 2018 one must buy an Accura if one wants to stay in the Honda family......This feels like a step backwards!!!! I'll pass!
@@porschefanatic1049 Here's a wild thought... With as boring as this car is could Honda be setting us up for Accord Type R? I know, I know, what am I thinking!
How do you not even bring up pretty much the coolest feature in any car, and that is the Head-Up Display? I had a test drive the other day, and I had never even heard of HUD's before, and I was absolutely freaking floored by just how awesome it was. Having your speed, and TSR for dynamic speed limit signs, was just amazing. I haven't had the chance to try using the maps feature, but my 24 Accord Hybrid Touring shows up hopefully this week and then I'll get to play some more, can't wait!
Maybe I missed something but my 2018 Accord Hybrid Touring is 212 hp which is more not less than the 2023. It is also rated at 47 mpg for city, highway and of course combined which is better than the 2023. I have gotten over 50 mpg under ideal conditions. I think I'll keep my car for now until Honda actually betters those numbers. I do like that the new Accord handles better and is quieter.
Looks like a pretty good Accord to me. I'm currently driving my second Accord and my fourth Honda overall, and this new one seems to be on-point. I am especially glad Honda has finally focused on making a quieter cabin. Interior noise has always been their products' biggest design weakness, IMO. It's usually just inoffensive 'white' background noise - until I want to listen to music, that is. Then I realize it's a problem. Honda tried teaming-up with Bose to use their noise-cancelling technology but, based on my car and on reports I've read about other Honda products, including Acuras, that system was an abject failure. I have it disabled in my car, which doesn't seem any louder in general, but the stereo sounds _so_ much better without it's interference.
I'll second that road noise issue. I have owned no less than 6 Accords and that was always my biggest gripe. Glad to see this one is quite a bit quieter - even with the 19" wheels and tires. Now, if they weren't so prone to pot-hole damage. Damn, I must be getting old!
Basically this is a detuned Clarity. 204 HP is lower and the torque is nominally higher. CVT is the worst idea ever, it's the only thing I dislike about my Clarity. The best part, I paid $13k less after rebates and have a better car. On a high note, I cannot get enough of your channel....it's simply the very best one out here. Thanks for the highest quality experience.
Hi guys, I have a lots of Love for Accords. I saw it first time in 1990, I was in my 6th grade and my family friend's father used to drive it to our home. I was curious why he paid double the Tax when he came back to India. It looked like one of the Best car of that era. But later when i got my Driving License. He picked me to drive the Accord for a 650 Km drive, i then understood why they called it a legend. Even today i can say the best executive car and then joined the Accord Fan club. Beautiful proportioned car, I have driven the Merc, and the Audi and the Lexus, but nothing drove like an Accord did.
Not that I find the new Honda Accord unattractive, it's just no longer a standout where's to the old one was visually! Above someone commented that only 15% of Accords sold with the 2L turbo and only 2% of Accords sold with the 6-speed manual. Given that, you can see why Honda would not bother to sell it anymore. At least, the Civic Si and Type R are manual-only for people who want a manual car. 🙂 [But then people complain and say "where is the auto Civic Type R", unbelievable! 🤨]
You got the sound system right, the bass is curved down, even though the stock components can take the power. I installed an AudioControl DSP with AudioControl amps and an AudioControl Epicenter, amplified the source and applied the power to the stock components, they play way louder and can take the power, don’t know why Honda suppresses the bass, I also restored the bass with the epicenter, but took the POS stock sub out and replaced it with a JL Audio 12W7, it is awesome.
I'm on my second V6 Accord (2005 and 2016) and it's bittersweet to walk away from Honda now. The Accord always had a sleeper, "sporty sedan/coupe" option and that's what the fans loved about it. They already dialed that back when they dropped the V6, and they've completely neutered it now that the 2.0T and automatic/manual transmissions are out of the equation. I get what Honda is doing - Civic gets the Type R and fun, Accord is the more serious sedans, and Acura is the in between. I'm not a fan of the direction the brand is heading and this is yet another disappointment from Honda, IMO (TLX Type S, killing the NSX, Integra, Civic Si, now Accord). I plan on trading my car in for something new, and it will certainly be European.
You had me totally until you said European. They sucks even worse. The v6 was the best, my 07 accord v6 is still a great car and will be for many many years. The problem is they dont build these vehicles with self respect. You get plastic in places there used to be cast aluminum. You get cheap trash leather marketed as good quality. These electric vehicles are wolfs in sheeps clothing. Mostly totaly unnessesary extra power yet no real roadtrip range.
I think we are going to see an Accord Type R this generation. Backing the top trim down performance wise makes space for it in the lineup. Honda did just develope a 355 hp -twin- turbo 3 liter V6 for the TLX and MDX Type S last year...
@@brianhoover7771 I stand corrected, it does appear to be single turbo, odd choice for a V6. Actually I am struggling to think of any other factory single turbo V6 besides the one Porsche is using in the Cayenne and Panamera.
@@singular9 they will, because they will say “limited” blah blah blah. And Honda fanboys will 100% fall for their marketing games and buy an Accord with a $45k+ MSRP and $20k+ dealer markup 🤣. Those that are actually SMART will pass on a $65k+ Accord, and buy ACTUAL sports cars, OR if we really wanted an Accord, buy the previous gen 2.0T with low miles and a warranty, and eventually tune it, because it’s a lot faster and a lot sportier looking than this new gem Accord.
@@JJ-tk1cu disagree. It’s not that hard for a company to make an AWD and 2WD version of the same car. VW does it with their Golf, BMW does it, and other companies do it. The CTR should be offered with both. If you want FWD, by all means buy the FWD version. If you want AWD, get that one. The CTR is an amazing car, but at the end of the day, it’s fun on a daily is very limited due to it being FWD. You have to go wind it out in a canyon, away from traffic, to get a burst of fun out of it. Otherwise it’s just a FWD “kind of normal” car around town. But if it was AWD, it would be so much funner around town doing launches without wheel spin, etc. Yes, it would then be a $60-70k MSRP car with AWD, and that’s insane for a Civic, but nonetheless, it would be cool if it was offered in both versions. It’s almost a perfect car right now in CWD, but the FWD holds it back from being perfect.
Love the channel. Who doesn’t?! Big Honda fan, but if you take all of the reasons out from why you’re buying a car in the first place just tell people to ride the bus. That’s not exciting or fun either and very economical. Keep up the great work fellas!
I was waiting for this kind of review - was deciding between the Acura Integra Aspec at 33,000 MSRP versus the new Accord. Frankly, I'm going with the Integra... This is coming from a guy who has always owned accords and currently has a 2014 HFP Accord coupe and a 2006 Accord Sedan.
I am hoping Honda is feeling the brunt of every customer saying they’re upset the 2.0 is gone and bring it back for the 12th generation but Honda could very well be steering customers to get the Si, Type R, Acura Integra, and TLX for more power.
Makes sense. My grandmother tested a base TLX and a highly optioned Accord (not quite fully loaded) and preferred the Accord even ignoring cost difference.
Awesome review, gentlemen! Your reviews are informative and humorous at the same time. I drive a 2018 Honda Accord Sport 1.5 with a Manual transmission for the last 2 years and just love it! I was really looking forward to this new one. I'm so disappointed with the looks on this new Accord. Boring! You nailed it on the head. "The fun crowd won't like it!" Amen.
The reality is that the 2.0T just didn’t sell nearly as many units as the 1.5L. This car is a purely competent car but just not as fun as the previous car. This may help to create separation with the TLX.
@@senorgato70 Do you know that dealers charge $3000-$5000 for special orders? From that $1500 goes to Honda and the rest is for them? Do you know that you have to pay compound interest over that? 🙄
I personally liked the 10th gen styling better tbh. This gen definitely looks more "standard" but I've noticed that's how Honda has been styling their newer vehicles as of late. I will say though, these cars are long timers, my sister has a 200K mile 07 accord that is still hauling ass to this day!
when i saw the newly deputed R-Type ,, i got this matured vibes from Honda and here i see how they implemented maturity in their Design and engineering strategy . well done Honda . now make an R-Type Accord !
Car and Driver 10 Best winner for 30-odd years straight. As reliable as the rise of the sun. Also, Jak is shockingly strong being able to lift Marc for ThrottleHouse's intro.
The production quality is 💯🔥 Absolutely love it. Love the new infotainment and the design is very accord lol simple and clean, but definitely a lil sad that there isn't gonna be a 2.0L turbo 10-speed in the new 11th gen. Was really excited for it when the new redesign was revealed. Lol Imagine they make a Type-S with the previous 2.0L Turbo 10-Speed, slightly better suspension, better brakes etc. (Unlikely ofc)
Honestly, the Accord has always been quite nice on the interior for the price. I was shocked when I sat in my friend's 2017 accord sport at how nice it was, and that sound system it had was actually pretty good. It's unfortunate about the different powertrain but it still performs its job quite well! Looks pretty good too, almost mazda-esque with the front end to me but pretty nice overall. Solid refresh from honda.
My first car was a '93 Honda Accord wagon. This car has come a long way since then. Mine didn't even come with cup holders. It's also gotten massive since then too.
I had a 1990 LX 5speed I purchased new. I put factory accessories on it wing spoiler with long brake light strip. Accessories wheels window visors and factory foglights. Also put in center aftermarket armrest with same matching interior. The Accord didn't have armrest back then. New Pirelli tires. I keep getting flats with original tires. I kept it 3 years, and it was paid off. I traded it in for 1st of the new 4th Generation Accords. A week after getting my new Accord I coming from work 11pm nearing home. I see this 3rd Gen Accord turn in front of me while stopped at Red-light. It looked very familiar with accessory wheels and foglights rear spoiler. It was my car I could catch lady driving it. I saw it two other times parked. Saw lady standing near it same area but I was on way to pick nephew up from school. She must have like my added touches.
I can't believe what happened to the Honda accord. I went down to the dealership and the new Honda cord looks even worse in person. It looks very cheap. I bought two 2021 Honda Accord touring and love it ....for me and my brother...... i asked our sales person at the Honda dealership what did they do to the car and he said he can't believe what they did to it they made it look cheaper and nobody likes the new Honda Accord and they're having problems selling them and that's why they lowered the price.....
Just picked up my accord 4 days ago and got the windows tinted yesterday. We are really happy with the style, tech, comfort, and engine. If you want a sports car this is not it. It is a very nice sedan, not a sports car. I test drove a K5 and really liked it but the quality of the dealership close by was less than average to put it nicely. I watched a ton of videos to get a feel for all the different sedans. After a lot of thought we went with the 2023 accord sport L in urban gray pearl. I would highly recommend giving it a test drive. ✌🏼✌🏼
@@baedonryland7073 It was a loaded statement that was just to incite reactions out of people. I definitely agree that German cars have more curb appeal than most Japanese cars. But mechanically speaking, German cars are usually much more complicated mechanically, with very little gains to show for the added complexity, making them much more unreliable in the process. As a mechanic, German cars that come through the shop are in far worse working order, leaking like crazy, and so much more expensive to fix. So Japan for the win in terms of daily driven economy cars and reliability. That's what I mean about a loaded statement, there's much more nuance to it.
Nice to see Mark and Jack in the intro! I guess what you're saying is that the Accord has become more Camry like. Which, is not necessarily a bad thing. After all, they do have to pay the bills too. As long as Honda keeps the Civic Si around there will always be a sporty sibling. Bring back a modern S2000 (S2024?)maybe? Not sure what the future holds, but I'm sure we will have to make do with a lot more boring cars with the advent of sweeping electrification for the masses.
@@smills7303 Yes there were a few years where they had some oil burning issues. I had a 2010 MDX that ate oil like crazy and it eventually blew up. I did an engine swap on it last spring and sold it.
I work at a Honda dealer and I’ve driven most of them. Power wise, yeah the 2.0T is an absolute blast. But I get what he means when he says the rear end feels disconnected and like it wants to do its own thing. The new 11th gen reminds me a lot of my 6th gen that I own. It’s boring, but it’s safe. I plan to get an 11th gen and make the 6th gen a project car. Had an H22A sitting in the garage for a year or so. Bout time I got into it and started rebuilding it lol
Love the savagegeese cameo
Not that I find the new Honda Accord unattractive, it's just no longer a standout where's to the old one was visually! I don't know why Honda felt the need to tone down the looks of the car, When Kia visually is killing it in their car designs! The technology in this car is definitely a step up from the previous Jen, but visually I feel haunted took a step backwards! I've had two Acuras and three Hondas by the way!
Man, time flew by too quickly. From SavageGeese to RavagedFeast.
Nice another review of the new civic type R. Oh wait, it’s an accord, I couldn’t tell the difference, ha.
And if you don’t go civic because you need the room, there’s the CR-V which is way more useable. Truly seeing why the big sedan is going extinct.
Fewer.
Yep.
How when the Camry have the trd v6 xse trims lol

Anyone who has owned or driven a 2.0 10 speed 10th gen accord knows what a gem it really was. The aftermarket support for it was amazing. It gave you a lot of luxury for the money, and was such a good car for someone maturing in age where a civic is a little too much of a younger person car. It was an alternative to the German sedans without giving up so much performance and gaining Honda reliability. What a shame Honda killed it for this boat
I had a 2019 civic hatch then went for a 2022 accord 2.0T sport. I love it plus the looks of it is better than this new gen.
I think it is a bit overrated. Yes the aftermarket was really good, but the 9th gen v6 had nearly identical performance and almost the same mpg, but with a proper exhaust note and smooth power delivery
In fact if you want a sports sedan, the Accord wasn't even the best choice.
You're spot on. This gutless BOAT!
You lost me on the "luxury" features. What luxury features?
I hate tree huggers
still on a fully packaged '07 accord that's been in the family since buying it that year, i have zero complaints years later and the bass still hits too 😂
When I used to work for Honda, I had the pleasure of owning a 2020 Accord 2.0T for a couple years and that's probably one of the best cars I've driven. Maximum comfort working on harmony with amazing performance made it such a fun car. That 2.0T with the 10 speed auto was amazing!
They're so quick!! I wonder if the discontinuation of the said 2.0 is going to make the previous gen more desirable.
@@njmetfan oh I think 100% it'll be a desirable car now. It's basically a luxury type R! Amazing car!
The 2.0t/10at isn’t entirely gone. You can still get it in the tlx with awd as well
My dad has a 2013 Accord EXL.
9th generation was the best Accord
'All those miles' are nothing to the Accord. Its barely 20% used
@@JoiceVaderd he was driving it a lot until covid. And my mom has a bad back now so only likes to drive and be driven in her SUV. That + WFH means he’s put on probably less than 10k miles since winter 2020.
My tuned 2.0t accord was one of my all-around favorite cars that I owned. Very sad to see it gone. Great review, as always.
The accord always had that sleeper element. Gone are the good old days. I will be holding onto my 10th gen as long as it's alive.
Yeah my 01 V6 Accord in Black was amazing.
My first car, it was nice
@DaOldSchoolRapLova96 nice. I had a 92 lx manual 93 lx manual 01 v6 exl coupe 03 v6 exl sedan and now my 21 sport 2.0. I loved each and everyone of them. I would take the soundand smoothness of the v6 over the torque of the turbo 4 anyday.

Me too I love my 2018 2.0T Ex-L. I'm holding on to it as long as I can.
My 10th gen aint goin anywhere. Its gonna last a good long time
I follow this channel for the sports car reviews. But I even have a good time watching you guys review the boring family cars like this one. Just a great channel.
I agree, they are entertaining and informative.
Well said!
Great video. I can tell you guys tried to be as optimistic as possible.
hybrid accord type r would be dope
Totally agree. I can feel it in their video when they eventually had to talk about the sound system. lol
Going to be a big decision to trade in my 2019 Touring anytime soon. The 2.0 10 speed is amazing IMO.
I completely agree with you. I just got it as well. It is extremely refined and feels like you're driving a German car when it comes to that.
I agree, I had a 2005 TSX and loved it back in the day. No desire to swap it for a new one when I was car shopping, ended up with a Audi A4 instead.
Agreed. Integra to rsx same story. Lost the double wishbone suspension, added a ton of weight.
@@justinreitsma9830 Similar story i had a 2004 TSX and now have a GTI.
Seems like car reviewers have such respect for the Accord that they can't make themselves speak negatively about it even if they're disappointed.

EXACTLY!!!!!
If this was so great it should have been the base power train and they should have kept the 2.0T for the sporty version. The performance of the base 1.5T and the hybrid are so close it is a joke. Honda is just looking for suckers to pander to.

@@anonym3017 sounds like they need to update their hybrid system then.
Or put rear motors. That would give it a bonus of having AWD too.
@@TheAnnoyingBoss Honda already has a great V6, yet they choose not to use it in the Accord
Why do you trade it in when the warranty ends? Is the price higher at that point?
Just got rid of my hyundai for an accord. Hyundai isn't it.
You know what that does make sense with the move away from sporty so they don't bite into acuras market.
Ding ding ding ding!!!
We could also see them begin in introduce the Acura brand to more markets in the future too, similar to the way Lexus has expanded the availability of the brand worldwide rather than selling some North American Lexus models as Toyotas like they did previously.
the Accord has reached peak NPC VEHICLE status.

As a future accountant, i found this car appealing as hell. I like the way it looks, not over styled but still a bit classy. I can sit in it, set the hvac and radio without having a headache. Fuel economy is wonderful too. A rational car for us, accountants, that are excited about boring yet functional things.
“I’m going to wake up and look like a Mustang…that might actually be an improvement.”
“If blue were gray, this would be the blue that’s gray.”
Quality content right there. That’s what I’m here for 😂
The Accord is great, I have a 2019 Accord 2.0T (10sp) and really like it. We got it as our family car, and even though I daily drive my Porsche 911 (992), I never mind grabbing the keys for the Accord.
Although my daily driver is a Bentley Sport….I don’t mind grabbing the keys for my wife’s 911 Porsche to pick up chicks downtown.
The accord is an institution at this point.
It does its very specific job so well! Sure there have been more fun accords and there have been wagons and other accord variations but at its core it was always THIS vehicle. Its just a really really good, simple way to get around relatively cheaply.
Thats what it should be
Its neutered. My old accord isnt neutered
Gone are the days when Accords had V6’s. They were pretty fun, as an owner I’m telling. The best thing is that it can go above 500hp with tunes.
Yeah they really were. I remember the one from mid 2000's it was such a nice car.
V6 is still the best
I just bought a 2024 Accord Touring today.
@@sn4rl277 I was speaking more for the masses on making payments. I agree with where you're coming from on alternative vehicles.
The Camry is no longer an appliance.
@@MikeForsythe you're right. This last generation is much improved.
On a side note, does that Bose logo really need to be there on the infotainment peaking through the windshield?
For me, truly enjoyed this. Would love to see you all continue to do lower cost vehicles with the crazy stuff sprinkled in
U guys do great reviews and I like when u talk about every tiny detail...thank you
Extremely consistent and well thought out review!
My 07 sedan v6 is a beast. There is more quality control
I'll pass!
Seems like you are correct on that! The 2.0t sort of makes the TLX irrelevant.
@@porschefanatic1049 Here's a wild thought... With as boring as this car is could Honda be setting us up for Accord Type R? I know, I know, what am I thinking!
Great work guys 😀i loved the savagegeese cameo😂 looks nice the new Accord😎respect

Yeah the new hybrid has more torque than the previous hybrid
I freakin' love these videos. These put a smile on my face.
And James going ham on that back seat was hysterical! Someone please make a Gif of that 😂
It sucks that the chasis is more refined than the 10th gen with the lack of the 2.0t. Glad I got my touring 2.0t before it was gone.
No highs, no lows - It's gotta be Bose!

I don't know why Honda felt the need to tone down the looks of the car, When Kia visually is killing it in their car designs! The technology in this car is definitely a step up from the previous Jen, but visually I feel haunted took a step backwards! I've had two Acuras and three Hondas by the way!
Honda went from a rabbit to a snail accord lol
Thanks anyway guys....my slightly modded 2006 ACURA TSX just turned over 104,000 miles and still runs great, handles well and it's paid for.
This car with the 2L Turbo and a 6 speed would've been such a cool pick. What a shame
Well no one bought the manuals last gen, that's why they discontinued it
Above someone commented that only 15% of Accords sold with the 2L turbo and only 2% of Accords sold with the 6-speed manual. Given that, you can see why Honda would not bother to sell it anymore. At least, the Civic Si and Type R are manual-only for people who want a manual car. 🙂
[But then people complain and say "where is the auto Civic Type R", unbelievable! 🤨]
Current day hipsters hate manuals. They actually prefer CVTs and of course mostly into e-vehicles.
The quality of this account is just mind-blowing
It would be cool if they brought back the accord type R. The rest of the world got the accord euro R which is basically a type R Accord
It’s not twin turbo….
@@brianhoover7771 I stand corrected, it does appear to be single turbo, odd choice for a V6. Actually I am struggling to think of any other factory single turbo V6 besides the one Porsche is using in the Cayenne and Panamera.

Just like the V6 from 2 generations ago, the 2.0T is also gone.
No AWD.
Sounds like you want a Camry.
Honda should of already done the AWD option for the bloody civic type R.
@@dannyjr7997 Type-R should stick with the FWD. It is what Type-R has always and should always been.
I'm still saving up for a 2016 Accord V6, it's been 8 years but I'll get there some day.

Getting the manual Integra?
I am hoping Honda is feeling the brunt of every customer saying they’re upset the 2.0 is gone and bring it back for the 12th generation but Honda could very well be steering customers to get the Si, Type R, Acura Integra, and TLX for more power.
Makes sense. My grandmother tested a base TLX and a highly optioned Accord (not quite fully loaded) and preferred the Accord even ignoring cost difference.

The reality is that the 2.0T just didn’t sell nearly as many units as the 1.5L. This car is a purely competent car but just not as fun as the previous car. This may help to create separation with the TLX.

Simple, clean, and easy to get in and drive. Plus the fuel economy many people are looking for in a sedan.
