Directed by Jon Favreau (“Iron Man”), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, “The Jungle Book” is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire. Sher Khan is supposed to represent the powerful and untouchable British aristocracy in India, his voice in the original cartoon reflects this.
Idris voice is one of a poor and petty criminal that is afraid of the law, not above it.
It was an awful choice.

The wolf mother played by Lupita Nyong is maybe the most underappreciated role in this movie. She is great and brining up a lot of emotions. Very much like Tarzan´s mom in the Disneys Tarzan movie. Much needed from the Animated version. This adaptation is wonderful. They take more things from the books and still holds true to the spirit of the Disney version. A great movie. The only thing that might ruin it to you is if you don´t like some of the actors and can´t see past that. I did´t think I whould like Bill Murry as Baloo but he come trought. Great Baloo. He and Bagherra is still that awesome couple looking out ofr Mowgli.

I love this movie. my 1 year old son, watched at the theater and he didn't cry but laughed and enjoy the movie to the end.
You didn't take your ONE year old to a movie and he didn't suddenly become a film critic and laugh all the way through.

If what you’re saying is true, then you’re son must be really brave because the last time I saw this movie, I was stunned by all of the action and the deaths of some of the characters. I’m surprised that he can sit through all of the intense scenes in this movie.

The kid was great, but personally he ruined the bear necessities song for me. Bill Murray pulled it off great, but the kid, god bless him, he hasn't a note in his head :L

I mean if you think about it, that just makes the performance more realistic. Mowgli had never even heard the word music before he met Baloo, so of course he isn't gonna have some mad pipes going into it for the first time lmao. That was his first time ever singing, as a character.
You do make a good point, but I still can't completely enjoy that scene because of his singing. Amazing actor though :D

***** LOL This is a movie with a Gigantopitecus with an army of monkeys, they threw reality out of the way, accents won't take me out of the film, just like how it didn't in *the original friggin Disney cartoon* where nobody had an indian accent or tried to be realistic (the vultures were meant to be played by the Beatles for crying out loud) and yet it was still enjoyable.

The voice celebrities of Scuttle, Flounder and Sebastian from The Little Mermaid live action movie that came out earlier this year nailed it JUST AS good as all these actors nailed their roles in The Jungle Book. Ben Kingsley and Bill Murray were my favorite voiceover actors and Scarlett Johansson and Awkwafina were no different from how they nailed it as Scuttle and Kaa. The Jungle Book will always be my favorite of all these Disney animated films to be remade into live action films.

I loved Idris Elba voice
It's so crazy that this movie was directed by the same guy who made Elf. And seriously this movie was so much better than the original. The original was boring but I was blown away with how great the remake was.

I adore Shere Khan, he’s one of my absolute favourite villains ever! I love him in the Disney movies but I also love him in the Kipling’s Jungle Book!

Even tho I’m not the bigger fan of this remake, this casting is pretty spot on! 🤩
For example: Idris Elba showcases Shere Khan’s threatening and menacing nature brilliantly! Ben Kingsley showcases Bagheera’s grouchy, yet wise and caring side wonderfully. Bill Murray showcases Baloo’s lazy, care-free, but loveable charisma fantastically! Plus, his rendition of Bare Necessities is pretty killer!

saw this a few days ago and almost every scene in the movie brought tears to my eyes because of how well It was done. They stayed very true to the book and the animated version, everyone did such a good job portraying their characters that I didn't once see them as CGI. It was beautifully done and im hoping to see it again soon.
I loved the movie! It's like every live action remake of their animated classics gets better and better. Cinderella was extraordinary, this one was even better. I'm really looking forward to see what they're gonna do to Beauty and the Beast.

just saw this and I really liked it. I hadn't seen the cartoon one since I was a kid but the live action brought back good memories. I think it's one of the best live action movies I've seen so far and such a talented cast!!
There is no stopping Jon Favreau from making such amazing work. Always faithful to the source material with good twists applied. He did great with the Iron Man films, then the Jungle Book and now his next best, The Lion King.

Honesty, I'm fine with the whole cast, including Scarlet Johanson.
what do u have against Scarlett anyway? She was almost nominated for an Oscar because 'Her', a movie in which she only appeared using her voice. she was so great in it that the Academy considered her a nomination but some objected by saying it's not fair since she didn't actually show up in the movie.
+Lauren Karina I don't have anything against her. A lot of people don't want her to play Kaa because he's male in the original and his voice isn't as serious. He was played by the same actor who did Winnie the Pooh.
+Lauren Karina Kaa really shouldn't have been played by a woman at all, because that's not even how it was originally portrayed by disney, and it loses a lot of the comedic effect
Ferdifer The whole film has little comedic effect. It's a more modern serious version of the original. Sure, it has some humorous moments with Baloo, but this film is meant to be a lot more serious. That's the main reason I'm fine with Kaa being played by a woman.
