    Unfortunately alot of people assume that development of this version of Jungle book came after the 2016 Disney movie, but that isn't the case. Andy Serkis had been working on this direct book adaptation for years. WB announced the project in 2012, then a year later Disney announced that they were producing a Jungle Book Movie. It happened to be that Disney with their resources and money cranked out their film faster. Unfortunately WB basically backed out of moving forward with a theatrical release afterwards, probably because they were unsure if another movie based on Jungle Book would be successful which i believe was a mistake on their part.. and thats why Netflix ended up being the distributor. Its a shame because Andy Serkis did a hell of a job bringing the actual original material to life. It deserved a theatrical release.

      This saved it from a potential bomb, and probably gave it more exposure than it would've otherwise. I wish this wasn't the case, but most likely is, and thus WB can't really be blamed for their decision.

    • @BenM.Davies
      @BenM.Davies 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      In an interview Serkis actually stated that Netflix contacted Warner Bros during the earlier part of this year and asked to by the rights from them for a massive amount of money. The journalist asked him about the worry about it not coming out at all and he corrected them, it sounded like there was a lot of hearsay going on when Netflix bought the film.

    • @cameronturk4388
      @cameronturk4388 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ben M. Davies Are you telling us that if Netflix never bought the film from WB then there was a chance that WB might of cancelled the film being shown Entirely??? Nah there is no way that would of happened. Not after WB spent so much money and a few years making the film and the filming completed and then being in Post Production after the first Trailer being shown in May! No Way!

    I just saw this today! IMO, based on this first viewing alone, definitely *not* what the critics say. 😊
    I wish they *wouldn't* compare this to the Disney versions. Perhaps that's why they've been reacting to it the way they have been. It's understandable, but at the same time I feel it's not fair because this is *supposed* to be different from the various Disney incarnations. Andy set out to make a "Jungle Book" film that's a lot more faithful to what Rudyard Kipling originally wrote, and he did just that, right down to Shere Khan (who was EXCELLENTLY played by Benedict Cumberbatch, I might add) being crippled, but *not* letting that hold him back at all. 👍🏻👍🏻

    I don't care if people think the animals in this movie are weird but to me I love these animated animals WAY more than Disney's. it's a perfect balance of animated/unreal and realistic animal. you can actually see emotion without the face being too obscure to see the animal it represent. unlike Lion King or Cats.

      Very much disagree. As the pacing of the film was very slow. But the biggest issue it has is the cgi. Sure it looks great but watch how the characters move. It was very abnormal and sluggish when the animals walked. Disney’s Jungle Book didn’t have either of those issue.
