We were lucky enough to tour Hobbiton 2018, I recommend making your reservation to eat at the Green Dragon restaurant at least 6 months prior. Now that in itself was amazing, the food, the display of the food, and each of us guest had fun singing, quoting our favorite parts, and I still have me on video reenacting the part where Bilbo shouts about going on his adventure, same spot too! The Hobbiton was the best experience and memory for us, hubby and youngest daughter. We did the latest tour, so we could walk through as the sun fell and all the lamps flickered their lights; absolutely magical! They also have a gift shop outside the Hobbiton, while awaiting your turn to ride the bus down, there at shop, you'll find all kinds of items you "must have". They now have the gift shop online too, so if you can't make the long flight to New Zealand, you just order and bring Hobbiton to your doorstep.
I literally have tears streaming down my face, it’s looks so beautiful in Hobbitan. If I’m this emotional seeing it through a screen and cannot image what it’ll be like when I eventually see it in myself.
I lived in New Zealand for two years shortly after the third film was released, and I was fortunate to be able to see almost every single shooting location from the trilogy...the whole country really does feel like Middle-earth in real life lol
@RobI guess when New Zealand decides to issue me another working holiday visa since I maxed out my two years already lol. It's funny you should say that because I fell in love with the place to such an extent that I actually applied for permanent residency but because of the way the points system works (I was in my early 20s so I'd only been working full time for about a year or two) I missed the cutoff by 5. 😭
What a humbling experience!!! I'd like to say a special "Thank You" to all the crew members for working so hard to ensure this ginormous project went smoothly every day and night. I appreciate every little thing you guys did so that we could be entertained for a number of hours. Thank you , Thank you, Thank you.
Mr. Jackson you are truly a gem. I have to say the fellowship, two towers, and return of the king are masterpieces and could never be remade into anything better than what you did. They are my favorite movies of all time I remember seeing the fellowship 17 years ago when I was 14 and was blown away I had never heard of the LOTR or the books. I bought the books read them, seen the other movies, and now all these years later absolutely nothing has changed. Pure masterpieces thank you for the amazing experiences.

The organisation that goes into these productions is phenominal. A shout out to ALL the people working behind the scenes and on the ground of all the fantastic movies that entertain us and tell us stories of fantasy, fiction and fact . Without them, they would never get done .❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
The passion for the landscape really shined throughout the movies and helped making it feel massive and real.. The logistics involved are almost like moving small armies which requires great coordination and the people involved can be surely proud of themselves even if their work is invisible (or only indirectly visible) on screen.. Being part of the process as an actor or backstage employee must have been an adventure on itself.. These diary videos are great, thanks!!
I watched this movie for the first time when i was almost 15 years old (in 2017) and i got obsessed with it, now I'm turning 23 y.o soon and still obsessed with it even if it's the hundredth time I've watched it. The crew, vibes, morals, acting and everything makes me feel happy from the bottom of my heart and I've always wanted to be part of this company. I truly consider them my family! So glad to watch this movie and I'm proud to call myself "Hobbiton Girl”. ಥ_ಥ
Damn there's such a healthy atmosphere to this whole thing, I'd love to participate in something like this.. Especially considering the final product is to stay with millions of hearts for years to come..
To be honest Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit won't be forgotten for many decades to come. It's a classic and it has won many awards. So as long as civilization continues and people keep watching movies they will never forget about this.
wow the feeling I got when Elijah Wood said he was 19 when he did the LOTR and now he is 30. UGH I just cant explain the feeling I had. How happy and high he would have been to have only been 19 and be a major actor in a huge film that was only the beginning. Incredible, 11 years is a very long time, lots of things have happened. Wow. I think Orlando Bloom was a similar age as well.
Amazing amazing....I am fan of LOTR since many years, when first epizod was out,but Hobbit I saw just now, less then a week ago and I admire all that work you have done. Thanks
I remember watching these back then, 2012 was a great year for me, and it's really hard to believe it was over 9 year ago now - we are as far from these productions diaries as we were from Return of the king back then. Watching it now I'm even more glad they did these vlogs than I was 9 years ago.

What amazing movies, and amazing people! The ability of these films to actually immerse you into the world, and make you feel like you are in middle-earth is astounding!
Man Peter Jackson was/is the perfect Director to carry Tolkien's legacy. You can tell he loved every second of this and put his heart & soul into the production of the LOTR trilogy and the Hobbit. The part where he says "I wish I could retire and move into one of these Hobbit holes, he really meant it. What an absolute diamond of a man.
But the result is astoundingly awesome! I loved the movie. Watched it when I was a boy. And now I'm 30 and my kids loved it to. :) its a real masterpiece.
I want just to say thank you to everybody wich has to do something with the movie. There is so much logistic behind it, its an eye opener to see it here. You have done magic not only with creating my most beloved movies. Thank you !!
But do you think by some chance that they might still have the bulk of their old movie props & costumes in storage for future use ? Because if so I gotta movie in the works that could SURE use them... :)
Whan an absolute dream to be there not once but twice with a fully constructed set to last the test of time. I love these movies and have watched them countless times! I would have given anything just to sweep the floors and be there. Nothing will ever top the magic captured in these films! Call me a nerd but if I could replicate Bilbo's study, hearth, and dining room in my own home I would totally do it! How did I not know about these diaries...wonderful!
Lord of the rings & hobbit movies are gems.... the pure classics for upcoming generations. The masterpieces you cant make again. Even todays CGI cant do that what u guys did at that time. Thank u very very much for these movies sir
I have to tell you, when I first saw the scene of the dwaves bouncing down the river in barrels, I was on a rare flight over the Pacific, and the turbulence started up big time! The humour of the additiinal sensory experience helped me relax through it!! Thanks guys!!
Thanks for putting together just a small part of the logistics necessary to move a large crew around on location. From a retired Film Transport Manager, in Canada
it looks so fun being an actor/actress. It was always my dream when i was little but unfortunately i was born completely talentless, shy and in a country where not many actors go international 😂
The best thing is: it's not made in holliwood... so they do not have to destroy the settings. It's a shame how many settings of epic films they have destroyed :( I think the settings will be a temple for Tolkien pilgrims.
Jenifer Leo Not allways, but often enough. The whole Star Trek Deep Space Nine Set for example... :( They could have get million dollars on ebay for that.
Sadly they do. They need space for other movies so they dismantle old ones. They do keep the most important ones I think though. That's what they used to do in Cinecittà in Italy

No one wants your life story
I lived in NZ for less than a year working at Weta and I miss that country so much now. Don't you?
Miserable sod@@trublood6410
What a humbling experience!!! I'd like to say a special "Thank You" to all the crew members for working so hard to ensure this ginormous project went smoothly every day and night. I appreciate every little thing you guys did so that we could be entertained for a number of hours. Thank you , Thank you, Thank you.
so true maaaan, awesome movie....and they all worked hard x'3 lotr hardcore fan i aaamz :'D
I love how the Dwarfs were sitting in the water all like "Draw me like one of your French girls".
I wonder how much this movie helped New Zealand's tourist industry.
A LOT! I moved there a year or two after the third film came out and the trilogy had a noticeable impact on tourism
@Gravy Gravity Gravitational ...the fuck lol?
@Gravy Gravity Gravitational and what rights are you referring to exactly? Can't argue about the "small" part, that's literally just geography lol.
@Gravy Gravity Gravitational ...you must be a lot of fun at parties. By the way there is no fundamental human right that entitles you to behave like a jerk, microaggressions or not. That is not a "right" that you're missing out on lol.
@Gravy Gravity Gravitational are you sure you know what the word "joke" means?
The organisation that goes into these productions is phenominal. A shout out to ALL the people working behind the scenes and on the ground of all the fantastic movies that entertain us and tell us stories of fantasy, fiction and fact . Without them, they would never get done .❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
I'd love to be involved with something like this, even sweeping the floors lol
same here I would even clean the toilets lmao
come to hollywood baby
@@TommyMinerPhotograpy are there jobs there
@@sineowl443 there are. but we are in the midst of an industry wide strike
@@TommyMinerPhotograpy
How do you get jobs in that industry Thomas?
If it weren't for the staff and other organizational personnel, a film would be unthinkable. Thank you all. We are one.

TH-cam recommendations: *now you need to go to Erebor*
Feel like I wanna be a part of them.. Working with Peter Jackson, LOTR and Hobbit such a wonderful and awesome moment they ever have..
Same here:)
Venice Angeles * highfive *
I watched this movie for the first time when i was almost 15 years old (in 2017) and i got obsessed with it, now I'm turning 23 y.o soon and still obsessed with it even if it's the hundredth time I've watched it.
The crew, vibes, morals, acting and everything makes me feel happy from the bottom of my heart and I've always wanted to be part of this company.
I truly consider them my family!
So glad to watch this movie and I'm proud to call myself "Hobbiton Girl”. ಥ_ಥ
10:58 “is this going to be in the movie?” aww so cute and innocent :D
How does New Zealand always look like it’s some perfect green screen image? Stunning!
parts of New Zealand was under the ocean for millions of years. everything is full of healthy life
Damn there's such a healthy atmosphere to this whole thing, I'd love to participate in something like this.. Especially considering the final product is to stay with millions of hearts for years to come..
th-cam.com/video/QvcXKb-u2UM/w-d-xo.html
Imagine future people finding Hobbitown, and writing history about how people used to live.
lmao
Or aliens finding it and deduce that people of that region in New Zealand are smaller than folk of the rest of the world for some reason unknown
It's called hobbiton
To be honest Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit won't be forgotten for many decades to come. It's a classic and it has won many awards. So as long as civilization continues and people keep watching movies they will never forget about this.
@@stevenz2998 totally agree... LotR Movie and the Tolkien Books are such huge masterpieces
wow the feeling I got when Elijah Wood said he was 19 when he did the LOTR and now he is 30.
Thanks
I love content like this. I feel like most people don't understand all the work that goes behind movies and this is a great way to show it.
I give you my word one day, i will visit Hobbiton and have the happiest smile on my face.
+Descriptive Louis me too :)
A friend of mine had his wedding on the set. Honestly a dream come true
It's been 4 yrs. So have you visited it?
did you do it
I remember watching these back then, 2012 was a great year for me, and it's really hard to believe it was over 9 year ago now - we are as far from these productions diaries as we were from Return of the king back then. Watching it now I'm even more glad they did these vlogs than I was 9 years ago.
God I would have killed for a job in this production. I would be so happy just being a PA. Just to walk around the set and the talents all day. breathing in everything Hobbit and LOTR. Amazeballs.
Tim Hazekamp And then imagine even being PAID for it haha!!

Thank you Peter Jackson and team for working Soo hard
love Pete's blogs! watched all these over and over! never get bored! imagine hauling men, animals, food and all the crazy stuff all over the country! hats off to all those who planned, organized and managed all these moving about - merely watching gave me anxiety - how the hell did they pull it off??!!! must be the best crew ever!
This is basically one big flex of how big cinema can be
I’m so happy they made Hobbiton permanent. Another reason to visit New Zealand… as if I needed another. 😊
You can spend Christmas day at hobberton and have a feast it takes about 6 hours and u get to walk around and look at all the hobbit houses, the feast is in the hobbit pub, my brother and sister and law are thinking of going this year✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿💐💐💐💐
Greatest thanks to Sir Peter Jackson for realizing us these unbelievable beauty of movies.
What a huge crew you needed to do so. Wow. THANK YOU so much from the depths of my heart. ❤❤❤

Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. Everybody should know these.^^
Ok stop it im crying
Pure magic! Million thanks to all involved!! God bless...
In todays mixed up World it's nice to see that the HOBBITS have a place in it. I would love to go to New Zealand and visit Hobbiton.
I’ve watched lotr and hobbits like 20 times. best movies ever
Lord of the rings and the hobbit is probably the most beautiful adventurous movies ever made
Imagine the amount of money that cost. And that was just logistic
Ya
1billion dollar of creation
But the result is astoundingly awesome! I loved the movie. Watched it when I was a boy. And now I'm 30 and my kids loved it to. :) its a real masterpiece.
@Helmut Salvatore nearly 10 years old, 20-30 is a huge maturing time period in life for most people
I want just to say thank you to everybody wich has to do something with the movie. There is so much logistic behind it, its an eye opener to see it here. You have done magic not only with creating my most beloved movies. Thank you !!
I can only think one thing and that is being part of that.. doesn't matter which job, just being part!
Yeah, same. But I think they already finished filming.
But do you think by some chance that they might still have the bulk of their old movie props & costumes in storage for future use ? Because if so I gotta movie in the works that could SURE use them... :)
So cool and so glad you're alive to produce a masterpiece like this. Much love.
Who else got this recommended to them in 2020!???
No 2020 actually

Lord of the rings & hobbit movies are gems.... the pure classics for upcoming generations. The masterpieces you cant make again. Even todays CGI cant do that what u guys did at that time. Thank u very very much for these movies sir

I now understand why a film of this size costs 200 million dollars. hahahaha
I have to tell you, when I first saw the scene of the dwaves bouncing down the river in barrels, I was on a rare flight over the Pacific, and the turbulence started up big time! The humour of the additiinal sensory experience helped me relax through it!! Thanks guys!!
7:04 “first time going into hobbiton” 2 mins later “I’ll never forget that feeling off stepping into hobbiton for the first time”
30 years and still looks like 19, rofl only the voice changed a little little bit. O.O THE ONE RING IS STILL WITH HIM!!!!
Omg sorry first time I saw this. But had know idea how many people it took to make my favorite movie series ever. God bless you all and your family
Holy... the chills when hearing a lotr soundtrack even for some seconds.
Beautiful

You guys are all seriously awesome and created the best movie series there's ever been. So magical.
This documentary is about the hobbit series not the original. You must be confused
Creepy that it was recommended to me today when I rewatched the first movie yesterday!
The ring knew!!! It calls to you
same just happen to me today, rewatched it yesterday April 10,2020 and this showed up today April 11 2020
This looks so much fun to be apart of
Bro TH-cam recommended me this in July 2024
I would give everything just to spend the rest of my days in that amazing village.
Nothing is impossible, I believe in you!!Practice makes perfect! Your dreams will come true, it’s only a matter of time.
Love videos like this! Still don't know why people hate the hobbit movies so much
The general public has NO idea just how much work goes into making a movie, let alone a complex series like this. It's mind-blowing!❤
The best thing is: it's not made in holliwood... so they do not have to destroy the settings. It's a shame how many settings of epic films they have destroyed :(
I think the settings will be a temple for Tolkien pilgrims.
Really? Hollywood destroys setting after filming?
Jenifer Leo
Not allways, but often enough. The whole Star Trek Deep Space Nine Set for example... :( They could have get million dollars on ebay for that.
Sadly they do. They need space for other movies so they dismantle old ones. They do keep the most important ones I think though. That's what they used to do in Cinecittà in Italy
2040: The 200 vehicles were used only for the behind the scenes video.
