    Just like another person on here, I was hopelessly addicted to porn since 13-14 until I was 23. One night after spending too much time in one of those sites, I felt guilty and in my skeptic mind cried out “God if you exist please help me.” Ever since then I have been cured. Praise God almighty and for those still addicted just know that you can beat your addiction. To quote scripture:
    “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

    By the grace of God after being addicted to it for almost 25 years (roughly since I was about 14) I have for the first time in my life gone almost an entire year without viewing pornography and have been actively subverting my ability to access it. It legitimately feels like my brain has been rewired and I see things so much more clearly now. Yep I dated a man who I found out was secretly recording our intimate encounters without my consent and clipping the videos . No idea what he did with them but I only found out because detectives like you linked his IP address to 10’s of thousands of child pornography downloads and found videos of me and other girls on his computer. The minimum sentence for the child porn is only 1 year in Canada. It’s been over 2 years and he still hasn’t been sentenced because of the system here. It’s so heartbreaking and traumatic to have encountered men like this.

With child abuse you can't convince this kid that his parents don't hate him when they won't take him to the hospital and choose alcohol and a wire brush to clean the maggots out of his leg.

To those of an pre consentual age engaging with this content even out of curiosity, planting that very idea even through words could be extremely damaging, which is why I see this industry being used as a weapon against traditional Western values. Tbh i think its due to two things:
      First an insider push likely for marketing clicks. Not sure the technical aspects of the branding, but it clearly worked for a while.
      Second, the hyper reality of prn. Yeah it says sister, but your rational brain realizes it's not your sister and probably not the sister of the person in the video. Its that dangerous disconnect from reality that people like to deny

    It's civilizational collapse, I'm afraid. Also, you have many people in high places that seem to approve of this sort of thing. I shudder to think what effect it has on any person looking at it, let alone the hellish life the victims must be leading. In the UK, the former BBC newsreader Huw Edwards was convicted of looking at category A pornographic images of children. His sentence was just six months suspended, so no jail time ! Meanwhile, others have been jailed for well over a year for just one statement on social media. The Edwards sentence tells you that, in the UK at least, those in the upper echelons of the criminal justice system do not condemn what he did. The BBC covered for the sexual predator that was Jimmy Savile, who had so much dirt on British establishment figures that he was never prosecuted in his lifetime. I applaud Laila Mickelwait for leading the fight against this truly evil porn industry. She comes across as a force to be reckoned with.

    Some people are just addicts. Doesn't matter what it is, they will find a way to be addicted to something.

      I’d have to disagree on the basis of cultural context and conditioning. If those same people you described were living in a simpler way, like subsistence farming villages (or further back, hunter-gatherer villages) I think they would find a healthy way to channel those tendencies.

      So you want to legalise something because people do it anyway? Do you apply the same logic to r*pe and m*rder because people do it anyway even if it is illegal.

      @@stvbrsn Seconded. Throwing up our hands saying "some people are just addicts" is not only wrong, its a losing attitude. Addiction should not be facilitated, and although it may start early, its arguably preventable in majority of cases.

    What's the solution to online anonymity? Digital ID? I would argue that if we are forced into having digital ID the outcome will be even worse.

    • @insufferable_wretch
      @insufferable_wretch วันที่ผ่านมา

      - - Some thoughts - -
      1. What consequences, good and bad, do you anticipate then? What outcomes, visions, prospects, do you find contemptible in particular? If you intuit a danger, I think it's important to build a comprehensive structure around it to see where it really leads.
      2. I think that whatever the solution is depends on how large -- how relevant; how often we contend with it -- the online world becomes. Naturally, as it transforms, we transform as a rule, but only because we are the ones who are actually transforms; and it does so, too, alongside us, because something, if we are not aware of it, is must be found within us that compels us to "use" or "interact" with it more and more. That unconscious factor shapes our society, and we should be careful not to let it take us along with it unquestioningly.
      3. I'm confident that we already have a digital ID, actually -- and that it is entrenched in our machines (devices). What you're talking about seems like a social digital ID. Is that wrong, and am I missing you entirely?

    • @ehaaron
      @ehaaron วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's all by design. In austraila you will now need ID to access social media. ''for the kids" because social media is now banned under 16. it's just an excuse to make a surveillance state under the guise of ''safety for kids"'. bullocks.

      Yeah idk, most scary/ important places know anyway. I dont see much risk in backend real ID on adult only sites

    • @one_b
      @one_b 11 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      I don't think full digital IDs is the solution either. ID checks only need to go one way - mandate that sites interested in primarily distributing content (versus simply a personal storage locker) should be required by law to get full copies of government issued ID of all content uploaders. When the crypto craze exploded to get an account at say Coinbase you had to prove who you are just like a bank. Netflix and Amazon have legally sound contracts for the licenses for content they stream but do not own. Why then should any "tube" site get to be a pseudo-anonymous dumping ground any and all depravity for revenue generating ad service but legitimate content has to be carefully negotiated? Even if you want to be a content uploader on TH-cam you should have to prove who you are. (Perhaps you do now? I don't know as I haven't looked in a long time.) Sure, it will probably drive the worst of it all underground where it used to be (and push the technology to hide even further) but where we are now online is a far cry from a boy finding Dad's Playboy or even Penthouse. Anything that is posted that is illegal you now know exactly who posted it. As for preventing access I think the ISPs and opt-out DNS level filtering like I do on my PiHole would go a long way toward curbing people's access without outright bans.

    • @assortmentofpillsbutneverb3756
      @assortmentofpillsbutneverb3756 5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @one_b exactly. Even if underground still exists it's way different than a wayward soul looking for legal content and getting sucked into worse through clever marketing and ui. Also breaks up the easy ability to make money through legal and illegal content on the same platform/company.
      I mean let's face it, this would be illegal for basically any market and can only be facilitated by user content as if that is truely different than other content models

    My first exposure to pornography was 2 girls one cup at 11 years old. Anyone in my generation knows what that is, and I don’t want to describe it it’s so revolting. I’d like to say that was my last time being exposed to sick and sadistic pornography, but it was just the tip of the iceburg. Parents, even if your kids don’t have access to internet and/or they are closely monitored like I was, their peers can still expose and desensitize your children to sexual deviance and violence. This can be done at school with personal devices and sometimes even with school devices.
