    I think the first issue you mentioned of fry assuming his previous life can be answered with the idea of multiple timelines. Lars could have gone back to one timeline and lived his life, but the OG fry's timeline we see mentioned all the time in the show was untouched and thus plot lines are not inconsistent.

    • @tigerspruce8580
      @tigerspruce8580 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Was looking for a comment like this, also wanted to mention that the time travel code was a paradox preventing one. Perhaps once Lars froze himself again and went into the future, it began to shift back to the timeline we follow for our fry. Sort of erasing that past, since the only other time they mention Lars outside the movie is one episode. The universe possibly erased the paradox and went back to our timeline over a small amount of time. Just a dumb thought I wanted to bring up.

    • @Pearcinator
      @Pearcinator ปีที่แล้ว +16

      There's also the episode "The Late Phillip J. Fry" when Fry (and Bender and the Professor) go so far into the future they essentially restart time...twice. So the new universe plays out as normal except this time there's no time-code paradox (they also crush their new universe selves).

    • @FantasmaNaranja
      @FantasmaNaranja ปีที่แล้ว +3

      this is further supported with the fact that lars was considered the paradox clone and was killed by the universe, and not fry

      @@Pearcinator presumably the bender and fry of those universes did the same things, as the only difference is that universe 3 was around 10 feet lower than the first one

    The episode that always tugs at my heartstrings is "the sting." Where Leela is in a coma from a killer bee sting and fry is next to her bed, begging her to wake up and causing Leela to dream about grieving over a dead fry and her desperate search for him through honey induced dreams inside of her coma dream. Something about the hopelessness in fry's voice when he's begging Leela to please wake up just breaks my heart.

    One of my favorites is the cursed Waterfall family. I think there are like 5 of them and they all die in the episode/movie they appear in. The hippie that gets eaten by Lurr, Zoidberg's lawyer when he eats the flag, the environmentalist on the penguin preserve, and the feminista and Hutch in Into the Wild Green Yonder.

    Cool Video,
    If you decide to do a third iceberg video about Futurama,you should talking about the fact that this is not the original universe of fry,in fact, Leela died alone in fry's original universe and this terrifies me a lot.

    • @jordankeller4253
      @jordankeller4253 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is something I often forget about with this show. I think I subconsciously forget it on purpose, because otherwise I do love and think about the episode quite a bit. It's such a dark and depressing thing when you think about it, even though the episode seemingly ends happily.
      Meanwhile may have been a perfect ending for Leela and Fry, but The Late Philip J. Fry is an equally canon and parallelly existing sad ending for at least a Leela. (Not to mention a Fry, Farnsworth, and Bender, too, who each got crushed to death at mostly relatively young ages...)

    • @jordankeller4253
      @jordankeller4253 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Or rather, maybe I wouldn't say relatively young...
      Professor Philo J. Farnsworth was 169 years old at the time of death, Philip J. Fry was chronologically 2043.95 years old, although biologically only 36 years old, and the body of Bender Bending Rodriguez, [Bending Unit Model: 22, Serial No. 2716057] was between 1007 years and 1012 years old, whereas his head was between 2062 and 2068 years old, at the time of death.
      Bender's year of birth is unclear, but is most likely to be between 2993 and 2998, with multiple inconsistencies on this date given in the show. His head is 1055 years older than his body due to being left behind in 1947 after the Roswell New Mexico Incident in Roswell That Ends Well. Theoretically, each person and robot could be chronologically be at least twice as old as the universe itself, which would be a number I wouldn't even be able to write down, but that would only apply to the versions of the characters from two universes ago.
      Sorry about this. This is my favourite show and I'm stuck in the hospital, and I'm so goddamn bored. And for some reason I really like adding up the ages for these guys, haha. Sorry to dump this crap on you!

    I feel like the reason Fry's nephew is named after him and he still has the moment with his mom, cause they are not grieving about him going missing, but him "dying" in the house fire.

      It cant be. Fry II (the son of Yancy) was live when Lars apparently died. Stills more probable that the relationship between Yancy and Fry has improved and that's would be why his son has that name

    I always thought Fry genetic line goes to his mother, not his father. It's said here Frys father is 50% Fry and 25% himself.. Frys mother shares the same Fry-horn/cow lick and nose. Is it said somewhere the father is Frys genetic line?

    • @TheLivingThanos
      @TheLivingThanos 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      They say that in the show.... every firstborn son of the Fry family would be named Yancy.... that's why Fry's Father is Yancy sr his brother Yancy Jr.
      Also that's why the Luck of the Fryish hits so hard......Yancy Jr broke the tradition for his own brother

    • @RPEliott
      @RPEliott 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Here's me six months later for anyone who might come by and read this; in "Luck of the Fryrish" Yancy Sr specifically says "Just like me, and my **grandfather** and so on." Yancy's father wasn't named Yancy. In "Roswell that Ends Well" Fry supposedly addresses his father directly... in Enos's... downstairs, "Everything's gonna be alright, Dad! ". He's also fully aware of Grandma Mildred and spent time with her before he froze. He's dumb, but not so dumb as to not recognize which grandparents are which. (Also, his mother's maiden name is supposedly Gleissner, but admittedly I can't find a source for that so, you know, grain of salt.)

    calling the tattoo a "paradox free time machine" isnt quite right, considering that any paradoxes get killed within the movie (lars, paradox hermes, the copies of the pink dude) and it's explained as the universe fixing itself (and also when bender time travels like a million times he ends up opening a hole in the universe and all of his copies explode like popcorn)

    The ship may move space around itself but that isn't actually unique. That is 100% how warp works in star trek, the warp drive warps or folds space to move it around the ship and the ships movement is an illusion of perspective, that's what makes inertial dampening so important.

    The very first point you make about fry being in the past is to do with multiple time lines in which something has to happen in the future for it to happen in the past the first time. That sounds really difficult to wrap your head around trust me I feel the same way. It’s like when you go back to be your own grandfather but you exist to do it. TH-cam comments isn’t the place to discuss in depth but it still checks out. The first man on the moon fry would exist up until this point where he goes back this changing it at that point not before.

    I don’t know why I never thought of this before, but in the episode where they get stuck underwater, why do they have to change the engine to be a thin flaps then if it’s literally moving the universe around the ship and not relying on like moving the ships through the universe you would think it wouldn’t need to do that

      You're technically correct, the best kind of correct.
      But he wasn't wrong. It was literally cancelled. Having a conclusive, written ending doesn't negate that. In fact, it was cancelled twice.
      As well as that, although this is just a somewhat related fun fact, Futurama has had four finale endings, with one episode written as a potential, 'just-in-case' finale.
      I know you didn't ask, and I know I'm digressing, but these episodes are, S4 The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings, [S5] Into the Wild Green Yonder, S7 Meanwhile, and S6 Overclockwise as the 'potential' finale. (During the production of season 6, the staff weren't sure if the show would be picked up for a 7th, so Overclockwise was written so that, should they be cancelled or not picked up, it could serve as a series finale if need be. Luckily that wasn't the case, but it does give the episode's ending a new meaning when you see it again!

    So something else I had in mind with the movie retcons is that even afterward the show seems to just totally forget about stuff that happened in the movies. Most likely due to embarrassment from bad writing and fans pointing out how it makes no sense in the show's continuity. The big one is the professor being the father for one of mom's kids. The revival seasons act as though that reveal never happened which yeah makes sense considering what a nonsensical mess it is that was probably just put in the the sake of having a twist. I could list all the reasons why but I don't have all day.
    If it weren't clear I do not like the movie episodes lol. I'd even take most revival episodes over them.
    The game Easter egg is so fucking insane too. Like just why lol. I wonder why and how the devs got that in and came up with it. Especially for some licensed basically shovelware...

    The actual plan with the movies, was they could be made. Though only if the movies could be made and later broken apart into individual episodes, if the movies did well. They were not designed as movies, but as a long running season broken into 4 parts. Even into straight dvd release, the makers of Futurama sold enough to show there is a fan base. Even with all the restrictions placed on them. Futurama fans, like myself, understand it wasn't ever truly given a chance to succeed. Let's see if this "review" can get it right from 1:48 on in. Cause the movie break down missed history.
