I first visited that lean-to in summer 1972 during the tail end of Hurricane Agnes, when there was a ranger in residence in the cabin in the clearing. It's a much-loved spot. Thanks for your hard work.
Ran into one of you on your way out to Piseco. I was going in. Stopped to admire your work. One of the nicest spots on the NPT but couldn't stay due to scheduling. Hello from Saranac Lake. I will return to that lean-to.
@@freeheel748 I was in a group of three heading out to Jessup River Road trail, so probably wasn’t me. The lean to stayed at its original location and is much improved. Enjoy!😁
Wow thank you so much for doing this. I haven't been on that trail yet one day I will check it out. Is there a way you guys can do a video on the process of the whole thing. I usually go up to the Catskills one day I need to volunteer and help rebuild a lean to as well. Thank you for the time and effort you put in I can't express how much I appreciate it.
@@DeepStateYuri it’s not a bad idea. I would probably have to film over the course of the year to get a whole process documented. Reach out when you want to come help out! Good, dirty fun.😂
@@twotonadk I currently live in Long Island so it's a bit far for me. Maybe next summer I'll take a week off see if I can come down to learn something and help out.
We prep the lean to logs offsite and they are flown in with other material by NYSDEC. In some cases, we do “mule” material to site with human work horses! This obviously requires site visits prior to project to get accurate dimensions in order to properly select, scribe, and cut the logs to fit a specific lean to. Tree cutting on site is limited to only hazard trees or trees that cause interference and has to be specifically approved by NYSDEC forester. The goal is always to minimize or not cut any trees on site to minimize impact to natural resources. Thanks for the feedback.😁
Awesome video, looks like a great time.
Any time in West Canada is a good time.😁
@@twotonadk Sounds great
Beautiful spot! Great job restoring another lean-to!
It is a beautiful and historic area indeed. Thank you Steve.👊🏼
Nice job, we met your team dragging a huge log down the trail this Fall. Can’t wait to stay there! See you outside!
Haha. Hello! I remember speaking to a group of dudes one day in the trail hauling material…guess it was you! Happy hiking.😁
That is a great video, Tony. I'm glad I found your channel.
Thanks brother, very kind of you. 👊🏼😁
Thank you so much for restoring this lean to. It’s our favorite part of the French Louie Loop. Can’t wait to stay there.

Awesome! Does the DEC allow you to cut trees for the lean to? Do you have to cut trees that are already down? You don't haul all that in there do you?
