Great Video! I think I'm going to make bingo cards for your videos. I love hearing your phrases - get your eye in; a much of a much; black is black is black; scraggy old brush; just keep the faith; and a few others. Always makes me chuckle 😂
I’ve never commented on your videos but man thank you so much for doing a vid on BA using speedpaints. Please do more! I can’t paint with anything but speed paints adhd just doesn’t let me do it.
Wow! You really did crack the code for using speedpaints for late war British (and with tips to make some modifications to reflect theater and time period)! Thanks!
Funnily enough, one of Vallejo's new Xpress colour paints is called Battledress Brown, not sure how well it works for British Uniforms, as I've not tried it yet, although I like the Xpress colours I've used so far
Very nice… a friend and me will pickup the Starter Ox fr skirmishing and i decided to go british.. even if we are German. I love the thought of doing some good ANZAC troops
Yeah, likewise; I definitely think the little extra time spent leads to a better finish, but that's true of pretty much any way we choose to paint. This little guy's kinda growing on me, though! 😅
Great video as always. I have a very odd request. Have you ever tried dry brushing from light to dark? I was looking at a pic of a wild boar to use as reference and noticed that their fur is light to dark. Could you try this?
I haven't had the chance, yet. Haven't really seen any reviews of them, either, which is a shame. I decided to stick with AP and Citadel for this one since it's much easier for most folks to get their hands on their lines from most gaming stores.
Any suggestions for the skin of indian and dark coloured soldiers with using the speedpaints? Indians and maybe Maori for brits and may black african or arab for the French? What would be your approach?
Relatively close, though it's a smidge darker and less warm than mine appears. For simplicity's sake, I'd recommend it over having to mix your battledress.
It's pretty close. The colour of British battledress in WWI might have been sliiightly more green; you could try 2:2:1 Brownish Decay, Ochre Clay, Fire Drake to see if that works.
@@SonicSledgehammerStudioany chance you could do a speed paint of Afrika Korps troopers? I like your video with the Vallejo Middlestone color, but would love a go at it with speed paints.
Tweak some of the proportions in this and it should look close enough to the Soviet khaki - maybe just a little less of the Fire Drake so the end result is a bit more green, should do the job.
This timing, good sir, could not have been more perfect. Just assembled 30 of these guys

They sound like the track titles from an album I'd totally buy
'keep the faith' is my mantra when it gets to the ugly phase :)
The snakebite leather really gives the Lee Enfield that perfect light brown look!
Been trying to crack this and you've delivered a godsend.

The figure looks great and I think the Tyrant Skull adds a nice touch to the overall colors. Thanks for sharing this.
Vallejo Xpress Color are doing a Battledress Brown
Great video BTW, dunno how I missed this

I love these videos. Painting Warlord Games WWII is kind of my comfort-zone painting.
Yeah, me too. You can always tell what kind of a month I'm having if there's more US infantry on the table. 😂
Thanks. I mainlyuse contrast paints rather than speed paints so will need to work out a citadel recipe
That looks phenomenal especially for a fast paintjob. Good stuff as usual.
Ah very nice I love these speed methods.
You should have given the uniform paint mix a funny name like "Tommy Juice" or something, lol
Amazing look!
Really cool method, great for new and old modellers.
Not everything has to be reinventing the wheel! But sometimes it seems like it does. 😂
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio would you do a WW1 British or would it be the same for the uniform?
Would be interesting to see the same but with a white drybrushed base, ala slapchop style. Thanks for your content its an inspiration

Thank you , Troy .

Comment for algorithm. Rad video as always.
I’d be interested too see some Soviets done by you. Had an army box awhile back.
Great video Troy really fast method. I prefer the more traditional method for my minis. Although I do use contrast for my skin tones.

Have you tried the second wave of Vallejo Xpress paints? There’s several colors that look useful for historical minis.

How close is battledress brown Vallejo Xpress to your BD mix of 3 paints?
Relatively close, though it's a smidge darker and less warm than mine appears. For simplicity's sake, I'd recommend it over having to mix your battledress.
Don't suppose you'd do a hungary mini
What Matt varnish do you use - want to try this method
How close is the battle dress mix to ww1 british uniform colour. I am looking for a speed paint recipe for ww1 british themed imperial guard.

Hate the heroic style of figure but you paint them well
Great video! Im hoping to find a quick method like this for doing soviets in their khaki uniforms. My own recipe seems to be struggling
