What a very big time saver and an excellent look to boot. I might have looked for a more field green colour for the uniform but that doesn't detract from an excellent tutorial.
The Vallejo Xpress colors are very impressive and the colors look great.I especially like the Landser Grey and the color for the rifle as they look very realistic. Thanks for sharing this.
That is superb! I’m a recent convert to Xpress thanks to your vids ,Ifind them easier to work with than Speedpaint. I appreciate the extra touches and detail that you give to your figures , a satisfying attention to detail without being a rivet counter.
Wow, it looks so good! Thanks for sharing this experimentation! And the release of the second wave of Vallejo Express somehow escaped my attention - looks like there is some paint buying in my future. 🙂
So glad I found your tutorials. I bought the express paints and speed paints but was rarely using them if at all. Not anymore!!! I looked but couldn’t find just a normal grey German soldier. Did I miss it? Thank you thank you!!
Thank you for this! I am getting ready to paint some Warlord German Grenadiers so this was a very useful video. Should make the painting quicker and better!
It's a classic mid-war grenadier, its camo is an early war 's zeltbahn, and the rifle seems one of the first semi -auto that the Wermacht tried on the Eastern front. Would be interesting seeing how these new colours are with some of the more famous camos, such as the "Oak Leaf" one, either the Autumn or the Spring version.👍
Would you consider doing videos like this (with the historical xpress colours) for all the basic WW2 infantry? Would be very helpful. Which of the two US green colours in the xpress range would you use for the US marines, army and airborne respectively?
Landser Grey is pretty situational - you're not likely to need it if you're not painting Germans! 😂 But others like Battledress Brown or Camouflage Green are great all-rounders for all sorts of things.
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio no, my apologies for not being clear. Bolt Action 3rd edition Battle of Bulge models , would be curious on your take with Xpress colors. That being said I know you have many videos already in the subject
The colours are all brilliant, I will have to seek those out, the wood stock and the wool uniform colours especially. (My unsolicited pedantic/geardo critique - that figure has an ess-ess helmet cover - pedants like me would file off the foliage loops and rocker hooks if painting it in Heer camo....would anyone ever notice? Probably not. I have an affliction). As always excellent work. Cheers!
Very nice. Could you show a comparison of the finished grenadines from the express painted version and the regular painted? Just to see the outcome would be interesting to see.
I still think Vallejo Xpress Colors are my favorite one coat paint. They just flow on the model in a way that’s more controllable compared to my Speedpaints. They seem to be less splotchy too.
Luckily, just the same! You won't need the camo capes of course, and something like GW Basilicanum Grey or AP Gravelord Grey will do the job for the early war trousers; there isn't really a middle grey in the Xpress range.
That sounds like an excuse for more miniatures to me! 😂 But as long as you're happy with what you've done so far, there's no need to rush out and try a whole new method, right?
Awesome stuff! I really do enjoy using the Xpress colours. Are there any of the Xpress colours you would recommend for painting early war Desert Itallians?
Probably Khaki Drill for the uniforms, with Bag of Bones for lighter, washed-out trousers and puttees. You could try Desert Ochre but that's really quite yellow, I find.
Would you chance wolf grey primer for this or is it too blue? I picked up landser grey especially for this reason and then you go and do a great video on it! Truly the paint gods are on my side.
That's *waaaay* too blue. You'll get very, very weird results out of that one! If it's all you've got, prime the miniature and then a couple coats of a grey to start with, but I'd definitely suggest starting with a light grey primer if you can still grab one.
Hey Sonic nice Video. Like almost in all the videos of this kind i now have to convert the xpress colours to Speedpaints, cause i don‘t want to buy all ranges… Gruss aus NRW
Thanks again for another GREAT video!! Trying some of this soon. 2 Questions. 1) with all the very special videos, I’m wondering where the plainly average ones are located? ;) 2) Do you think SS camo is doable with these new paints?
You might try a similar approach with the pale and darker brown splotches on the SS oak leaf stuff, but I'd then use typical acrylics to dot on the orange or green 'leaves' since they'll cover alright over those basecoats.
The rifle looks so real, it is definitely a nice colour for painting wood.
Yeah! It's a real go-to on anything I can use it for. Copper Brown is another nice, slightly richer and more warm brown for wooden details as well.
⭐️Thanks for this…of all the colours you used that wood colour for the rifle just got immediately added to my shopping list⭐️ 👍
Everybody's keen on that Wasteland Brown, it seems!

You never fail to make me want to paint, Sir.
Awesome tutorial and glad to see some more WW2 stuff! Thank you!
This channel is fantastic. Plain and simple. SO excited about these colors! Just in time too, starting another German project as we speak.
Nice Paintjob as always 😁 , but Look at the right Hand of the Grenadier , its a claw 😂😂

Glad you like them! I'd feel a bit silly if you'd gone out and bought them to find they weren't any good for how you like to paint. 😅

Whimsical names noted. I like the brown on the rifle. Great job as always.
You make it look so easy. The sign of a master!
Thank you for posting that with such immaculate timing - my grenadiers arrive this week and I'm off to my FLGS tonight, so can pick up the paints. 😊
Thank you , Troy .

Love your guides. Helps me with some great ideas

Defo some useful paints in the range,

Love this series , agree rare to xpress color tutorials. I’d like to see third edition xpress examples Ty
There hasn't been a third wave of Xpress releases yet, to my knowledge?

Would a coat of Marine Juice add or take away from the final look?
Lovely stuff
really helpful video - thanks
Looks great!
What and No Agrax shade !! Very nice they do look a good paint but do I really need more paints we will see Keep up the Good work Captain

Go figure! Not a detail I think I'd have ever picked up on, but handy to know!

I've likewise found Xpress to be really smooth to apply, with a slightly longer working time. Helps keep those tide marks to a minimum!
Brilliant! Thank you very much for this! Please may I ask what colours from Vallejo express you would recommend for 1939-42 German infantry?

@@SonicSledgehammerStudio Fantastic, thank you!
Love this video, furiously doing panzer grenadiers and folowing this as close as possibly. What would you recomend for helmets with no cover?
Just finished painting a whole platoon using your other tutorials. I cant try it now 😢

Do you add the basing texture with the awesome figure already glued down?
In the info...Thanks
Awesome tutorial. But i can find a landser vallejo express. What is the reference? May be 72.469 ?
Landser Grey, 72.489 is correct.
Very nice, do you think you could do an express video for Soviet, US, and Common wealth too?
That's the plan!
@SonicSledgehammerStudio that's good, bc I have 500 28mm soviet infantry that I need to paint, this kind of method will be a lifesave

What colour are would you do an uncovered helmet?
Awesome as always. I'm guessing this is a Warlord mini. P.S. How about Napoleonic Prussian infantry next or a conquistador, he asks selfishly!
