I’d like to think os Fuji Superia as being the bread and butter, a staple if you will, in my arsenal and I’d highly recommend giving it a shot.

    When you shoot Fujifilm Superia, make sure to overexpose it. Overexposing helps to minimize the green tint.

    6 bucks?! That's just about 4.5 quid... Oh I wish any film in the UK was available for that kind of money. You can get Superia for around 8 quid if you try. Portra will set you back a tenner. The only way to shoot film on a moderate budget in Europe is to go black and white, Ilford HP5+ all the way baby!

      If you shoot a 400 film at 200, then you're overexposing it, and therefore traditionally, you should write -1 (pulling) on your film when getting it developed.

It cost me nothing, I built him a nice photo editing PC at cost. He has a nice Canon Elan 7 and a couple l lenses but I told him to hold on to them because he may change his mind. Green tint? There is none. Superia 400 is in fact notable for its quite good gray balance. Of particular importance, there is no color shifts from shadow to highlights.
    A pronounced green tint is most likely a bad scanning profile. These days, likely culprits are also exhausted development chemicals and labs that just don’t give a shit.
    The best thing to do is to shoot a gray card or macbeth color chart (better) for the first exposure. Adjust gray balance to this in your post.
    One thing you’ll notice on the macbeth frame is that color tint doesn’t shift on the gray scale gradation row. This means easy compensation in post.

      @matthewjensen8681 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you shot it at 800 I’m sorry to say, you probably underexposed it and caused more green tint. You went the wrong way, bud!

    oh i’m a lil confused :0 in order to overexpose it a stop, i should change the iso from 400 to 200? if so, does that mean i’ll have to change the shutter speed along with it (since iso and shutter go hand in hand)?

    • @matthewjensen8681
      @matthewjensen8681 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. But rating it at 200 instead of 400, you overexpose by a stop. For instance, if your metered for 400 and it says to shoot at 1/125th, shoot at 1/60th instead!

    Here you can't really get your hands on Fuji film in drugstores. They only have AGFA 400 and Ultramax 400 in stock (and maybe some Ektar).

    So if I want to over expose by one stop, how do you do that? In metered mode? +1 on the EV dial? Or will setting the film speed to 200 accomplish that? I though from a previous video setting the speed incorrectly was pushing film?

    Hello! I'm a beginner in film photography and just developed my first roll of film (Fuji Superia 400) and shot on the Canon AE-1. However, there seems to be this red glare/flare in a lot of the photos. I googled it and people were saying it was a light leak. Any tips on how to fix this? Love the vids btw, it really helped to get me started on film!

    • @matthewjensen8681
      @matthewjensen8681 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What camera are you using? There are a lot of possible places light can be leaking from.

    • @false3695
      @false3695 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      considering this comment is 11 months old you probably already fixed it but I'll answer anyway. generally light leaks are caused by a bad light seal on the film door. this is even more likely considering the ae-1 is a fairly old camera. you can fix this with a cheap light seal kit or just with electrical tape by covering the gaps in the main body and film door.
