Today we shoot and review Kodak Color Plus 200 one of the cheaper 35mm film stocks on the market currently. This is in my opinion one of the best film stocks for beginner film photographers and for those who just want a nice reliable look. I absolutely love it and can't wait to get more of it! What are your thoughts on this film?

Oh man the photo of the staircase thats half in shadow and framed so symetrical is amazing, like really really good. If you decide to sell your prints this one would make you millions.
Whats amazing with the colorplus is the yelowish classic tone itself, i really like the render. Expecially for portrait, people talk about portra 400 was the best for portrait. But colorplus have some classic tone that really unique.
I prefer Kodak Gold over ColorPlus, even if the variation is very slight. Also like Gold more than Portra tbh👌
I'm so surprised the internet hasn't risen up against this comment^^^^🤣 My favourite thing about gold is that I can buy three rolls at Walmart for $15 CAD, where I had to spend $47 for two rolls of Portra at my local shop. Why Gold will always be my bread and butter.

Yea i agree, color plus is pretty good, but gold is my favorite, love the warm colors!
Thought I was alone I tried gold and color plus was surprised how good they were especially gold.. then went back to portra and just liked the look of gold more
Color plus 200 is beautifull, but gold 200 makes me feel in the 90s with the results 😂
Great shots! Love the "concrete canyon" shot from the middle of the street. I use ColorPlus 200 and Fuji C200 for testing out my (way too many) vintage cameras -- but I like these two as really decent general films.
Kodak Color Plus is the first film stock I used and I was amazed by the results of the pictures!

I’d totally agree. I love that film. It’s a great all around film. Amazing color renderings as well. And it’s cheap!!! It’s also has amazing skin tones on pale/light skin.

The availability of Superia 400 makes it my favorite cheap film. It also renders colors beautifully and the 400 iso helps a lot

Great review! I'm a huge fan of this one, it's definitely my go-to colour film- it looks like my family's photos from the 90s! That said, it's a little grainier than Kodak Gold so I probably wouldn't use it in a professional capacity. Also it's very hard to get hold of here in the UK- every six months or so places will get it in stock and it'll sell out overnight!
If you know how to expose it, have a good slr with accurate metering, excellent lens and with good post production, this can do wonders. I have a lot of great shots on color plus 200. It's very well balanced and only has a slight orange tint which is easy to fix in post.

I just bought 15 rolls of this here in Germany for 10€ bcs it was on clearance! Very good "everyday" film for sure, especially at that price.
I've been shooting this for so long, so glad it gets the love and recognition it deserves!
ColourPlus 200 is my go to colour film. I use it as my walkabout film for street or just trying out a new camera or lens. It gives great results, especially in the ever changing weather here in the UK. It forgives our mistakes and rewards happy accidents which makes it ideal for beginners and those of us not blessed with a reasonable disposable income. If you want to see this film shine, try shooting it a 100.

cheap 400 iso film made by Kodak. It has
Vibrant and saturated color tones which looks good if you want a film that has punchy and rich colors and tones. Definitely look into it!

Kodak ColorPlus 200 is amazing. I always slightly under expose it and the colors look so rich, bold and beautiful. ColorPlus > Gold all day long in my opinion!

FramesPerSecond I’ve tried gold even pushed to 800 and its GOOD not gonna lie, but it costs more and is always out of stock, and the color mmmm I prefer Color Plus 200

REFIGUY69 I thinks is more about personal experience, I’ve used both and for me color plus is better, Kodak Gold in portraits of white people makes them look “yellow” that’s why I don’t like it, while Color Plus gaves me the real color skin. If Gold work better for you, good. For me it will always be Color Plus 200

Colorplus is great ! Looks saturated enough and Low contrast which is definitely vintage vibe. I am a big fan of it. Cheaper than the rest is super cool 😎 as well!
So, here in Brazil portra is currently US$ 15 . It was US$ 11 a year ago. I've bought a roll way back and never used it. Portra is luxury for us. My main films are pro image and colorplus. Great stocks! Still saving that portra for later
By the way: colorplus is currently 5 dollars!

Defnately one of the best films in terms of quality and price very reliable too an all around film
you should go for ultramax wich is a bit more saturated but with nicer color tones cheap too
The ultramax negative per say has a bit more thicker and has a darker tint it. The color plus is thin but has a lot of detail.

Kodak raised prices of their film recently but on top of that there has been something of a global ColorPlus supply shortage for almost two years now - it's just selling like hotcakes. Probably that's why it can be so pricey sometimes. In Europe it can still be found under 5 euro, definitely one of the cheapest colour negs but it's now nearing the price of Gold when it used to be like half of it. And yeah, it's a great film.
kodak raised prices to build more production because film is surging so badly they cant make enough film for the market.

Something that I regularly find for super cheap is Fuji C200. It’s got fantastic colors for the price of 4.50 per 36 exp roll.
I saw it for $16 for a 3 pack but a better deal of 36exp instead of the 24exp of the kodak 3 pack.
Always preferred Kodak Gold

hahaha i think i have a theory as to why the guy didn’t wanna be photographed but i think he might have been breaking the two week travel quarantine and he was scared you got a picture of him outside? a similar thing happened to me yesterday with a lady that yelled at me for taking a picture even though she wasn’t in it bc she was breaking her quarantine

Of course it's going to look good with a Leica camera and Summicron lens! You could run trimmed down TP through that baby and get great photos!!!! :-)
I'm trying to start film photography but now the 36 exposures box of Colorplus 200 cost $23 usd in Mexico. Plus develop plus scanning, the roll would cost 35 usd.... Too expensive nowadays...

I have that exactly same rolê of film loaded in my Olympus trip 35. First camera (other than my cellphone) and obviously first roll. Doing some tests, super anxious about the results. What shutter speed are u shooting at and what apperture?

You need to get some Low ISO film... ISO 3, ISO 6, ISO 12!! :)

Heey I’ve been shooting colorplus for a while now and my pictures always come with muted colours, like it doesn’t has any vibrance to it. Even though I’m shooting in daylight, most of the time on sunny days. If I compare the colours in your pictures to mine, they are like totally different. My reds aren’t bright at all, the blues, especially the sky, almost turns white, green is at all colourful, skin turns out very white, my pictures always have a more yellowish tone. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, I’ve tried different settings with the aperture and shutterspeed but it always comes out muted. I use the build-in light meter in my Olympus OM20. Does anybody know what I’m doing wrong or how I can solve this?
