Why Pakistani IMGs hate J1 visa for residency training?

  • Just to add: "For Pakistan- H1B visa 'stamp' is issued for 1 year these days (instead of 3 years). So if anyone has to revisit pak, they might need to revisit the embassy again. All other perks that you have outlined remain the same.
If someone stays on J1x6 yrs(till fellowship), the applicant has to pay 360$ per year to ECFMG for renewal.
One other thing is- If someone has a spouse who wants to work, then J2 dependent can get EAD per processing time (3-6 months) and work rightway. On the contrary, H4 dependent cannot get EAD till I-140 approved (at least 1.5 yrs of the primary H1 applicant)."
Someone told me the above, so just sharing it.

Hi! A very informative video. However, I have a question. I'm on a j2 visa with EAD and full working rights currently but what if my spouse gets h1b visa in an underserved hospital? How will it affect my working rights will I need to discontinue my job till form I 140 is approved or what will be my future? It will be really helpful if you can answer my query. I'm pretty confused regarding this.

Please guide me how j2 via holder can convert into the H1B visa ? Is there any chance for the green card for the J2 or J1 visa holder's ?

Sir is it easy to Get J1 visa Approved from Pakistan since it is sponsored by ECFMG itself. Do all incoming imgs Get their J1 Visas Approved after they Matched?
    Thankyou.

If i apply to a residency program(with step 3) that offers both J-1 and H1, is it more likely that they will offer J1 on their own or will they offer H1 ? (what if someone requests them for H1 if they don't give u H1 on their own?)

Always request for H1 first. Good luck!

I think this is first comment from India, welcome! J1 and H1 visa are very similar for indian candidates too. I will soon have few Indian guests on my channel in the Resilience series and they will address this then in those videos.

I don't think you can convert J1 clinical visa to H1 visa without a waiver.
