I am in the old IMG boat (10 years) with home IM residency + clinical + teaching experience and good step 1 score (not good as you though) I have one question, suppose if someone wants to get into competitive speciality or want to match as an old IMG, and willing to do all these research, clinical experience, publications, etc, how one would manage their finances without draining family money? I have this personal obstacle. I don’t mind waiting for things, but how to manage finances while we build up CV for career in USA, is the question that always bugs me and I know nothing about. Cardio is one of the most competitive fellowships. It is theoretically possible but practically very tough.
