The benefits from high quality bearings more some come from ease of the same distance, less effort to pitch, easier spool start up, all lead to more accuracy.
So funny I watched this video today. Two days ago I ghetto cleaned the spool bearings in my 2021 Shimano Bantam (basically brand new and only used a couple times) . Stock bearings spun for less than 2 seconds. After cleaning they spun for 9 seconds. The funny part is I had the HedgeHog Air Ceramics in the shopping cart and almost ordered them. I was still contemplating the order until running into this 3 1/2 year old video. You just saved me $50, THANKS!
It was my understanding that the main gains from air bearings was in casting ultralight lures. It would be cool to see if there is any difference between the two when casting lighter weights down to 1/64th.
if look online you can find a cheap ultrasonic jewelry cleaner for cleaning bearing. it is lovely to have. think I got one for around 30 shipped. my 13 met bearings were really bad i went with a hedgehog Air hd bearing and its lovely once broken in and used a bit.
Nice one! Got the same bearings in my 2015 Aldebaran (with a Yumeya BFS spool). Both stock and HH Airs cleaned + lubed with 1 drop of thin oil each. Line was a Daiwa 8 strand PE0.8, 6lb FC leader. With the light lures tested (2.8-7g) I did sense a VERY small increase in casting distance and ease of casting, especially with lures below 5g. Didn't compare any lures heavier than 7g. I think at high RPM, when casting aerodynamik 1/4oz and heavier lures for max distance you don't get any more distance due to more friction caused by the small balls in the bearings. You do get a very small advantage with light lures though, due to the recduced inertia of the small balls, especially when pitching (low RPM of the spool). So it's probably high RPM causing more friction, which then negates any gains in max casting distance. If you run out of tests one day, you could do the same with light lure vs. heavy lure + pitch vs. full blown cast for max distance :D
did you clean the AIR bearings too? Lots of bearings come lubed just to protect them. Also, maybe in the next test, also use a light lure with both sets of bearings, like 1/8 ounce or so. Pitching with both sets of bearings would be interesting too!
Agreed...There can be a significant difference between even the exact same bearings. The "test" lacks control...You can take the most free bearing in the world built to the highest tolerances, an extra drop of lube or heavier weight can make them slower than stock el cheapos
Josho8327 I’ve done the same test in a Abu rocket with nearly same results. For casting....ceramics don’t make a difference. Tournament distance casters that have been around awhile will tell you the same. It’s quality of the bearing and not the material.
I ran the air bfs bearings in my 15 aldebaran51. They outcasted my stock cleaned bearings(which need oil because of them being stainless). Throwing down to 1/16oz on a k2 and eventually sold to get the steez ct sv. Again those bfs bearings in the ct sv also outcasted on lighter baits. I’d like to see two pins out and more casting on the metanium. I’ve only ever run 4 pins for skipping 1/2-3/4 oz jigs.
24 hours? Woah I'm lucky to have mine in for more then 5 minutes. Download a vibrating app on your phone and set the bar on top while you're cleaning the other parts of your reel and it should be good. Pick them up and spin them a few times in between.
I think one thing that the reel test fails to mention often is Control such as pitching and flipping. This goes heavily to Zpi or Hedgehog vs stock bearings. It’s not always about distance.
I would be interested to see the difference in performance between clean dry bearings and bearings that have been cleaned, dried and oiled with TS321 with excess oil blown out with compressed air.
Can you run the same test on the scorpion BFS but using up smaller weight? I believe that the scorpion is a mid-level reel, so I'm not too sure about the bearing quality. however, being as they're focused for more bait finesse fishing maybe the smaller bearings will cast a smaller plug further? The scorpion BFS uses 730 size bearings. Thanks again!
Can anyone here say they've lost a fish cuz their bearings failed them? Idk about you all but my priority is to catch fish not have casting contest. Save your money and just clean the stock bearings. Put your money towards sumthing tanglable that will improve your skill set as a fisherman.
Sometimes it is essential to change your stock bearings to better bearings especially if you are saltwater fishing. I upgraded calcutta te with carbonex drag and saltwater hybrid bearings. Less maintenance when you are fishing.
If you haven't cleaned those stock bearings in 4 years while kept using them, there're probably some permanent damage inside due to dirt and debris, which can't be fixed by cleaning. They should've run even better in free spin. BTW, nice condiments jar from Walmart! I got the exact same one for bearing soaking. In my experience, ceramic hybrid bearings don't always spin the fastest or the longest, I have some NMB Japanese stainless steel bearings that last almost a minute in free spin when lube dry, super quiet, and they're quite cheap, too. But with SS bearings, you always have to add oil in reality, which slows them down drastically no matter what oil you use. So IMO, that's when ceramic bearing shines, even those cheap Chinese ceramic bearings. They can always run lube dry, which spins pretty well compared to oiled SS bearings. And less hassle in maintenance, you don't need to remind yourself of adding oil.
This is why the 13 metaniums are such a good deal nowadays. You’re getting top of the line, Japanese made parts....in a super light, comfortable, high performance reel. And if you do your homework, you can get one in really nice condition for under $200. I’m not a huge mod guy. With the 13 metanium, however, there’s one mod that I feel is somewhat “necessary” for long term viability. I swap out the aluminum gears for the brass, curado k gears. Im sure it adds a little weight (I didn’t notice) but it’s worth it to know that you have the beefiest micromod gears available.
So I am really considering buying the Metanium from Japan Lure shop based on your recommendation but could you specific the spool size vs the US version? I remember you saying it was smaller than the US but when I ask others they say it’s the same. Thanks
from my experience, ceramics bearing are gud for less effort cast that lead to accuracy in light lures. i'm using both ceramic and stock bearing for different purpose, but prefer stock if wanna go for distance coz more controllable. sometimes i mix the bearing (ceramic on side plate, stock on pinion (better sw resistant) and hybrid for spool tention (coz i think sw would not go in my bearing). the result is im gain more distance on both heavy and light lure. but anyway, there's always pro and con. sure we will always got a different result
Hi I am a total noob and thinking of trying bait casting. I am thinking either Piscifun Phantom or a Tsurinoya XF 50. Can you please tell me which one is better for a beginner?
Lighter fluid works brilliantly. I use naphtha (lighter fluid, basically) for my reels and for the work I do on guitars for my job. The nice thing about lighter fluid is that it evaporates without a trace. No residue, nothing...
clean bearing with car brake cleaner using straw and then air dry with canned air. then add 1 drop of lighting oil. will make stock bearing spin great. i will make a video on it
Nice to meet you. I am running a fishing tackle shop in Japan. We also sell original ceramic bearings. We also sell original ceramic bearings. Would you be willing to try our ceramic bearings? Please let us know your reference opinion from Americans.
That's the thing. Most decent reels have pretty good bearings. When shipped from the manufacturer they are going to be loaded up with oil to help protect while in storage, shipping, and just sitting on the shelf at the store all of which can mean it's a very long period before they are ever cast.
they have a you tube channel, check them out for yourself. Their bearings will free spin for over a minute. The owner can damn near give a lecture with spools spinning in the background and the just go on forever, not to mention they're only $15. Also just a tip my boca bearings performed much better once I took the shields off and cleaned them out with alcohol and a toothbrush
Ok I just checked out a couple of vids and I saw nothing that would make me want to buy a set. If they want to send me a set to test they know how to get a hold of me.
Air bearings aren't designed with distance in mind. They're made for quicker startup. They actually slow down quicker on a distance cast, because they're so much lighter.
I have a curado k that I have done a deep clean on and it still feels like junk. Would you recommend aftermarket bearings or should I just buy shimano bearings? Thanks.
Another ? Why did you get the air an not the air HD? The air are marketed as a midrange casting bearing an the air HD are for long distance casting, I have noticed a difference in my alderbaran with the air HD but never done this test I am getting alderbaran in the mail soon so I might do this test myself with the air HD I do believe the the aldebaren come with the anti Rust bearings like the Metanium. Let me know what you think? Keep the videos coming!
If a reel comes with the S ARBs and have the dark gray coating then those are the good ones. The Shimano stainless steel ones are all silver. I wanted to try the smaller balls of the regular AIRs. I have an Aldebaran MGL on the way as well lol
Yes there three grey ones wish the Aldebaren mgl was bigger then a 30 size I would get one or two but have 4 aldebaren 50 an one BFS don't see point in a 30 size reel!
Im going to go into detail about the spools of both the 50 and 30. I think the new brakes makes it worth the buy. They seem to behave different on lighter spools.
There's a little more to cleaning bearings than your video shows - I'm assuming you blew them out with an air gun of some sorts (Rinse and repeat affair), then applied a drop or two of high speed oil... If not, you're not getting the best outcome with the stock bearings. If so, then this comment just serves as a reminder to everyone viewing this that there's a bit more to it (Tons of videos out there on the subject).
this video wasnt a "how to clean your bearings" video. It was a comparison between stock S ARBs vs high dollar ceramics. I included the cleaning footage just to show that I did it
For the most part they will hold up, stainless or ceramic as long as you keep them cleaned. The main thing that would wear them out is salt or other debris. They are never gonna see the abuse bearings do in machinery.
1)Shaman Elite 6ix Ceramic + Black Titanium bearing 2) BONES® SWISS CERAMIC BEARING 3) BIONIC CERAMIC BEARINGS Which of them is the fastest bearing and has more spinning time ??
The important thing is not the distance with these Air bearings.... but casting smaller lures stress-free and easily... For distance casting, try the ZR bearings with very light oil... (sorry for my english i use google translate :) )
Can I get bearings, carbon fiber handles, etc for the tsurinoya xf 50? If you could possibly post a link or what it is compatible with that'd be awesome. Love your channel. Just subd.
Awesome. Look forward to it. I was going to get the saex elite but decided on the tsurinoya from your review. Looking for a collapsible rod too. Went for the kastking calamus 6'6 2 PC ultralight
Distance really only shows just that.. HH air bearings are a more finesse bearing.. Need to show other trials with light baits, ease of casting, consistent casting etc.. Try ZPI, YT fusion, Bocas.. HH makes a GREAT bearing as well..
They also make the Pixy, presso, Aldebaran, Pixy SPR,SS AIR, T3 AIR and so on that are finesse BCs.. please tell me something I don’t know.. I also don’t own a spinning reel because I own BCs that can toss light baits..
Trey Harpel obviously you don’t know that when throwing lighter lures not only can you cast more consistently, accurately, and further with spinning. Smh..... stick with what you think you know and watch the video more closely.
can you? you sure about that? You own or fished ANY of those BF reels I mentioned? I own 40 JDM reels, 12 of which are Finesse BCs....Im sure you know since those HH air bearings have smaller ball bearings that they are geared towards a finesse app (smaller balls start up with less effort and dont need nearly as much weight to get moving) and not long distance casting, but Im sure you knew that already.. The normal bearings, which have bigger ball bearings are geared towards the all around casting and typically will cast farther. So yes I find using spinning reels for what I need useless. SR do have a place for most people as they have not tried using a quality BF BC..Ive worked on reels for 15 years (customer reels) so I know just a little bit about upgrading bearings and different bearing manufacturers..
Sir nice video, sir i go for snakehead fishing for 3 to 5 days a week for 3 to4 hours. And after 3 to 4 month of time I do feel my baitcasting reel is no so smooth while retriveing for that I clean and grease my reel but still I don't get such smoothness, could you tell me why and how it can be solved what part of reel is important for smoothness. Plz respond me sir I'm India
You can really tell in your videos you enjoy dissecting reels there are so many different brands and types out there I’ve been sticking with Abu Garcia for most of my Baitcasting reels
There are no Abu Garcia reels made in Japan, but there are Revos made for the Japanese Domestic Market(JDM) that are made in Korea and are alot cooler than the Revos for sale in America. You can guy them from most JDM shops like Japanlureshop. JPangler, etc
No sure if I understand your question. If you are asking Curado K worth the money, answer is if you like Shimano I would go with Casitas MGL for best all around shimano reel. you should look into Concept A if you like the Scorpion DC.
When you soak them take an electric razor or clippers(if you happen to have it) and hold it against the jar to vibrate the acetone you get a much better clean. I saw in another video they used a drone over head to show casting distance in the water. I feel this is more realistic test and was more entertaining to watch. I hope to see your videos done this way or try it.
People just dont get it, the issue of bearings is not they spin too slow, but they spin too fast, that's why we need breaks to kick in when casting. So premium bearings won't have too much effect on casting distance. But air bearings will affect the trajectory of finesse bait when you do pitching, since they have low momentum to start, and this is very important.
If I understood right, you did not clean the ceramic bearings. When I bought my hedgehog bearings, I was advised to clean the shipping oil. It made a huge difference in my ability to cast farther and more controlled. I tested with 1/8 oz jig on aldebaran. I think if you would have cleaned the ceramic, you would have seen a better difference.
THE REEL TEST . Interesting, my instructions said to clean them. (I spun them free hand before and after and had a significant difference)maybe they already did for you knowing what you do. Regardless, I appreciate and enjoy your channel! 🤓
I have always thought that absolute distance is a foolish goal for baitcaster performance. You should not run bearings dry, apply a synthetic lightweight oil to your bearings. It will quiet your cast and increase the life of your reel. You should also remember that spool bearings should be treated differently from the other bearings in your reel. Spool bearings don't have to support load in any other direction, so "deep groove" is just extra friction and a lightweight synthetic oil is all that is necessary for lubrication and quieting. However the bearings that support your handle and main gear needs to be supported in multiple directions and will last longer with a heavier lubricant. The spool bearings should be optimized for high speed and one direction of support, the gear /crank bearings are a lower speed application and are under stress from multiple directions therefore would benefit from a heavier oil or even a synthetic grease lubricant. Give it a try and see if you can feel the difference. The entire idea behind something like the concept Z is that worn out and rusted bearings are the main reasons for reels deterioration as they get older. The theory is sound, but the prescribed solution is in my opinion wrong. Bearings are cheap as compared to the price of a new reel, replacing the bearings in your old reels with a quality abec 3 or above lubricated appropriately to their purpose will possibly bring them back from worn out to feeling as good or better than new!
Great video first off.. I was under the impression that the bearing quality of the stock Met and other upper priced Japan made Shimanos are better quality and spin better than the lower priced reel stock bearings. I know my Chronarch MGL has a different quality stock bearing than what comes in my older Curado's, Lews , and other lower mid priced reels. Just saying this may be why the stock are competitive as a Hedge Hog. I have never tried that Hedge Hog but I know the bocas I always swapped made a big difference on my lower priced reels older shimanos. However I dont think think the Bocas would be any advantage over the better quality stock bearings in my Chron MGL which are the same I think as your Met stock bearings (SARB's) ? . I also take my shields off btw on my bocas which to me seemed to make it spin better.
Yep Jimbo, if you watch my original Metanium bearings vid I mention that alot of guys who service reels say that the bearings on the Calais DC dont need an upgrading. And I believe they are the same S ARBs that shimano puts in their high end reels and JDM reels. They have the dark gray look thats immediately noticeable vs the silver SS ones. Quality over quantity!
I remember that one.. I believe the Casitas MGL has them also from your other vids?? You can tell just how easily and long the Chron MGL spins without line on it that they are better bearings than the sliver ones. I would be happy with those in my reels. I would like to order just those and probably save some money for my curado k's.
Not sure someone who is going to spend $99 or less on a reel will spend almost $50 on bearings for it :) lol. I will say that the S ARBs from Shimano arent cheap in price either
Good Video ....You got your point across, most of these negative comments people just don't understand what your trying to prove....Thanks for the the Info
Even if it was a 10 foot difference, it won’t change anything about your fishing. Nope, not worth ever replacing stock for any aftermarket, unless they are badly worn.
Like your videos, right up until you add that annoying background sound (“music?”) over your voice, then i have to stop watching because it is too hard to listen to what you're saying. Maybe because my audio comes through my good stereo speakers, but that noise boom da da boom really only boom da da boom detracts from what boom da da boom you're doing da da boom. I've had to stop watching many of your videos because of it.
Did you clean the orange seal bearings as well? Not all are shipped dry. Many are not. Easy test to do. Thank you
Where did you get the reel stand?
if look online you can find a cheap ultrasonic jewelry cleaner for cleaning bearing. it is lovely to have. think I got one for around 30 shipped. my 13 met bearings were really bad i went with a hedgehog Air hd bearing and its lovely once broken in and used a bit.

Nice one!

Also, maybe in the next test, also use a light lure with both sets of bearings, like 1/8 ounce or so. Pitching with both sets of bearings would be interesting too!
Air bearings should have been cleaned and run dry also. Apples to apples.
Ideally both cleaned out with 1 drop oil each. Good test though, I like it.

Jimmy finally someone who understands manufacturing
hi-speed sell a light oil with acetone additives so it cleans and lubes.
try them in a SLX DC Please
I ran the air bfs bearings in my 15 aldebaran51. They outcasted my stock cleaned bearings(which need oil because of them being stainless). Where does Shimano buy their bearings?
This is why the 13 metaniums are such a good deal nowadays. You’re getting top of the line, Japanese made parts....in a super light, comfortable, high performance reel. And if you do your homework, you can get one in really nice condition for under $200.

Does the old Metanium have a bearing on the spool shaft? If so would you need to swap that 1 out in the comparison?
the 2013 model does not have the silent tune bearing on the spool shaft, the MGL has that
Do you put any oil in the bearings or just dry
What if you have north on North Pole magnetic bearing ? Is that a thing?
So I am really considering buying the Metanium from Japan Lure shop based on your recommendation but could you specific the spool size vs the US version? I remember you saying it was smaller than the US but when I ask others they say it’s the same. Thanks
the JDM Metanium MGL has a shallow 70 size spool. The US version has the 150 size spool.

Can I put a handel like that on my curado k
Hi I am a total noob and thinking of trying bait casting. I am thinking either Piscifun Phantom or a Tsurinoya XF 50. Can you please tell me which one is better for a beginner?
I would pick the Phantom. Alot of reel for the money. Lighter, more adjustable brakes.
THE REEL TEST thanks bro total help! love your videos specially the in jacket ones. Soooo real.
What kind of acetone, any specific brand? Also, can't one use lighter fluid?
I think I just bought it at Walmart. Ive heard people using lighter fluid too. Ive only ever used Acetone.
I'm sure rubbing alcohol would even work. Any kind of solvent should do the trick.

What size and type of line to do you use for your tests?
on this test 10lb mono
What rod are you casting with?
Curado K, stock vs Orange Seal vs Hedgehog
Hedgehog Studio Kattobi Air ceramic Bearing have good performance!long cast, smooth
clean bearing with car brake cleaner using straw and then air dry with canned air. then add 1 drop of lighting oil. will make stock bearing spin great. i will make a video on it
yes but most people wont go through the trouble to taking off the shields to do all that.
you don't need to take off shields. the straw with pressure is enough to clean thoroughly
Most people don't do most things properly - is that your excuse?
Did you make the video @ReelingWithJim ?
Nice to meet you.
I am running a fishing tackle shop in Japan.
We also sell original ceramic bearings.

This is true. But some stock bearings are better than others :)
Maybe try ZPI bearings? and make the controls of the test a literal more fair for both bearings.
Try spool speed bearings, I really want to see that
My oiled and sealed ceramics from Spool Speed destroyed my flushed and dried Hedgehog Air bearings
whats the big deal with spool speed bearings?
they have a you tube channel, check them out for yourself. Their bearings will free spin for over a minute. Ok I just checked out a couple of vids and I saw nothing that would make me want to buy a set. If they want to send me a set to test they know how to get a hold of me.

they are designed for casting "lighter" lures farther
I have a curado k that I have done a deep clean on and it still feels like junk. Would you recommend aftermarket bearings or should I just buy shimano bearings? Thanks.
Ive heard that the Hedgehog Studio ZR bearings are great at a decent price.
THE REEL TEST awesome thanks
I have a Chronarch 150 XG reel. Do they have the high end bearings?
If you are referring to the S-ARBs then I know my Chronarch MGL does
Could you test a curado 200, with Hawg tech bearings from tackle ware house?
Ill eventually do that, but not with Hawgtechs
Less cleaner = less involvemental waste so with that said thanks for the video.
You should try the Spool Speed Bearings and see how much further it cast vs traditional
tell spool speed to send me a set and I will

Oil is added for a reason, reducing wear on the bearings... Loud bearings are bearings that aren't going to last. ;)
I get that. I tried to say that. Pointed it out because it and the design parameters of the Hedgehog air bearing may make for a skewed comparo
For the most part they will hold up, stainless or ceramic as long as you keep them cleaned. The main thing that would wear them out is salt or other debris. They are never gonna see the abuse bearings do in machinery.

3) BIONIC CERAMIC BEARINGS
Which of them is the fastest bearing and has more spinning time ??
The important thing is not the distance with these Air bearings.... but casting smaller lures stress-free and easily... For distance casting, try the ZR bearings with very light oil... (sorry for my english i use google translate :) )
That is why i casted the 1/4 oz weight not something heavier.
Did you get the Aldebaran MGL yet?
JLS just shipped it yesterday
Shimano is a Bearing Company and not only for fishing gear but other applications
I always use my HH Kattobi Air hybrids dry lube, and you have to use stainless steel bearings oiled, this is the advantage of hybrids comes from.
I may get a set of Air HDs next with the regular sized balls, and FYI the Jackall Riserbaits are going to be sold here
Yeah, I know, talked to Jackall guys at the expo. BTW, Jackall released a new swim head with a cool craw trailer. Looks really good.
Can I get bearings, carbon fiber handles, etc for the tsurinoya xf 50? If you could possibly post a link or what it is compatible with that'd be awesome. Love your channel. Just subd.
ill be doing a video about that soon
Thats why I opted to throw the 1/4 oz plug instead of one of the heavier ones
Trey Harpel they make reels for those applications......spinning reels. For casting distance you’ll see no difference.
I love JDM Abu, USDM is ok. Im doing a video on a classic Revo this weekend i hope. Putting the CZBs in them
THE REEL TEST how do you buy Japanese made Abu Garcia reels
There are no Abu Garcia reels made in Japan, but there are Revos made for the Japanese Domestic Market(JDM) that are made in Korea and are alot cooler than the Revos for sale in America. You can guy them from most JDM shops like Japanlureshop. JPangler, etc
How would you rank these reels Chronarch MLG Curado K Scorpion DC 17.
DC, MGL, K if I had to pick just 1 to fish
i have all. Scorpion DC for sure is the best one.
ReelingWithJim is the K worth more than the price point ?
Have dc and k fished my friends mgl
I second reel test
Dc mgl k
No sure if I understand your question. If you are asking Curado K worth the money, answer is if you like Shimano I would go with Casitas MGL for best all around shimano reel. you should look into Concept A if you like the Scorpion DC.
When you soak them take an electric razor or clippers(if you happen to have it) and hold it against the jar to vibrate the acetone you get a much better clean. I saw in another video they used a drone over head to show casting distance in the water. I feel this is more realistic test and was more entertaining to watch. I hope to see your videos done this way or try it.
Are you going to buy me a drone?
Well see how my lottery goes lol
People just dont get it, the issue of bearings is not they spin too slow, but they spin too fast, that's why we need breaks to kick in when casting. So premium bearings won't have too much effect on casting distance. But air bearings will affect the trajectory of finesse bait when you do pitching, since they have low momentum to start, and this is very important.
not necessarily. When I tested the Casitas and Curado 70, I was able to go lower on the brakes if I remember
Dry bearings will be faster but oiled bearings will be smoother.
A B you would know huh bubbles you been putting those ceramic bearings in your shopping carts
U need to put some oil in so doesn't get friction
Stock concept A bearings vs concept A with CZB ??
Im putting CZBs into an Abu Garcia and testing that this weekend hopefully
THE REEL TEST Cool man looking forward to it. Do you know if they work in a curado K? I only fish salt
the small ones might
If I understood right, you did not clean the ceramic bearings. When I bought my hedgehog bearings, I was advised to clean the shipping oil. It made a huge difference in my ability to cast farther and more controlled. I tested with 1/8 oz jig on aldebaran.
I think if you would have cleaned the ceramic, you would have seen a better difference.
HH states that you dont have to oil their bearings as they have prelubed them for you. So I left them alone
THE REEL TEST . Interesting, my instructions said to clean them. (I spun them free hand before and after and had a significant difference)maybe they already did for you knowing what you do.
Regardless, I appreciate and enjoy your channel! 🤓
You should do a video testing some SpoolSpeed bearings
tell them to send me a set
Hey you think I could borrow that Metanium??😂
Sure, but I require a $1000 non refundable deposit
THE REEL TEST what about a fresh Jackson 😂
THE REEL TEST 😂😂😂
FYI, it is "cost", not "costed", even in the past tense.
I would like to order just those and probably save some money for my curado k's.
yeah Shimano Japan puts those bearings in their lower end reels too. They arent cheap though if you bought them as replacements
It would be fun to see the how the Hedgehog and Metanium bearings perform in the Casitas. Even if they do cost half as much as the reel lol. Dod.
Wise words brother!
Cheap reel: smooth on first 12 casts
Expensive reel: 10000th cast as smooth as its 1st.
Great video! Shimano wins again! :)
There’s more to bearings than casting distance
Did anyone win the giveaway yet??!
yeah finally! lots of close guesses.. Im going to order the 110s and make the winner video after I get them
THE REEL TEST alright cool.
Even if it was a 10 foot difference, it won’t change anything about your fishing. Nope, not worth ever replacing stock for any aftermarket, unless they are badly worn.

When you say affordable you said 1-200$. Which you may be able to afford but what about those who can’t. I say try a 40-70$ lews/shakespire combos.
I lked your video🤘 you are holding your breath while casting ....not good homes
Thanks for confirming what I’ve been telling folks all along. Bearing upgrades on mid to high end reel are worthless.
well we needed visual proof
WOULD THE HEDGEHOG WOULD FIT MY PISFUN PHANTOM
(New subscriber here 👍🏻)
if you get the right bearing sizes
How can I find out what size I need
email Piscifun
It is stupid to upgrade bearings for high end baitcaster. Seriously.
Your beating a dead horse.
👍
curado K, stock, orange seal, hedge hog
Hmu and I can show you how to make them way better
2 words: "spool speed"! check out the videos of their spool bearings. They are awesome and they are priced right
did i win the contest? lol
Stop doing tests with fake products. Did you actually think you were getting high end bearings for under $10?
Big cojones not always better, can’t run as fast...
Tuned out or tricked...you did nothing to improve the actual performance of the reel. More like a cosmetic or bling job.
Tsurinoya xt 50!
Wilson Miranda I second this. Always like making cheap things better.
Can I get new bearings for this reel? Preferably ceramic. Also looking for carbon fiber handle
Mylifeisdope yes the bearings are the standard size in most reels.
When you say affordable you said 1-200$. Which you may be able to afford but what about those who can’t. I say try a 40-70$ lews/shakespire combos.
