Why are they comparing a car and a bike on a ''wet'' track? Obviously the car would win. Even if the track was only ''damp'' it would advantage the car so much more in the corners. Not very fair comparison to tell the truth...
the announcer said at the beginning that the track was dry but I thought it was moist also....the worst danger for a bike when there could have been traces of an oil spill ... all of my 22 some crashes were on wet corners with oil; but my one injury happened on a heavy 900cc superbike on an off-camber left corner apex too close to the shoulder..putting the bike sideways
Typical boring excuses from insecure bikers when their bike lost a race : - "let's call drivers as cagers" - "but but bike more fun!!" - "but but bike takes more skillz!! Look how manly i am riding my bike!!"
Shaun Bradley Well, that's a deficiency of bikes and that's why bikes are slower! Wet track is a valid racing condition, why the hell would you discredit it? If you want to accommodate the rules for the bike, why not just make it a drag race and be happy with it?
All im saying is every bike vs car is always in the wet. So it's unfair any dipshit can see that "well obviously not you" cadwell park is 15 mins from me and the fastest thing around it is a zx10r with a 1:26. Even a 1004hp subaru time attack car got 1:27 look it up mate. Nuremburgring a r1 did it in 7 mins but here u are comparing a 30k + car to a 5k bike lol
Mr dreamer who knows nothing !!!!! Go to sleep little boy who drive a corsa everyday. If u wanna go modded power the look at a turbo 1000cc you mooron 300hp on 2 wheels lol awwww is that not aloud ?? Only a standard bike vs modded car ? Lol idiot dreamer wannabe fuck off back to sleep
Shaun Bradley Again, *wet is a valid racing condition*. *There's nothing unfair about doing a test in the wet*. Stop whining and learn to accept a defeat.

***** Look, I know you're all hard for your sportbike. But sportscars are faster around almost any track that isn't just a couple of straitaways. Cars can corner, change direction and brake faster.
this video actually shows why I love circuit racing so much more than drag racing in a straight line it comes down to power and driver to an extent but throw in some turns and you see who the better car and driver is obviously that was a bike and not a car but you can see no matter how ridiculously fast that 1098 is the gtr is right back in the game in the turns

Things like Type of car/ Type of bike, Rider/Driver, track layout, and weather/track conditions all have an effect all of the time.
@MAFTulha May be, depend on how skilled you are in driving bike or car. For me i can't afford car that can provide performance as motorcycle. 10k bike usually perform as 100+k car
depends on corners too, many a tailgating cage falls behind me on thru certain corners. reason is the bike is a 1/3 of the width of a car (or less) so can take a straighter line thru some bends, especially chicanes.
what if the turns were sharper and the road was not as wide - like a real street? would that make it even more in favour of the car or would it help the bike?
Agreed, cars are generally easier to control and drive, a motorbike requires more balls and skill. also 4 contact points vs 2 contact patchs (much smaller contact patches) cars are generally better at cornering and braking, but bikes are not useless at either and can do it quite well still. in most cases a motorcycle will win in a dry track, bikes get pretty bad fast in the rain though. I drive both cars and ride bikes... off road, bike/quad bike is the king though.
yes 4 contact points vs 2 is really true on a track. but if you are buying something for the road the truth is, acceleration is really what youre going to have the most fun with. motorcycles will always be more fun to ride than cars are to drive and if anyone says different, they've never been on a motorcycle.
I know this is autoCAR, but the fun you have on a bike is much better than a car. The adrenaline pumps like crazy when you're speeding and then cornering.. not to mention the bike needs more attention cornering, while the car can just flick easily at a touch of the steering wheel..
Should have run it on a completely dry track. I though I heard him say that the Bikes time was 1:44 and the car was 3.5 seconds faster. A good club racer or national superstock 600 bikes will do Cadwell in 1:31 ( or even 1:30 ) in the right conditions.
to sum up my opinion, the interviewer says it all in the video. Car is better at breaking in through turns thanks to 4 wheels and quicker steering, the bike needs to balance itself out and loses pace there, where as every straight (even the small ones) put the bike back into the game cause it's simply faster. As a result a good rider in good conditions could bring out the same result on a bike. Check out the Galadro vs the 1098 video. The bike wins only just. Again the bike is better in some
I got a racing buddy with that car, he's pretty fast at our local track. He still runs about 15-20 seconds a lap slower than my old gsxr track bike. In the wet though, he could easily be three seconds faster unless I wanted to take chances.
What's better, a typewriter or a washing machine !!! A Car is better if you want a Car and a Bike is better if you want a Bike. Can't see why we keep comparing ?
I can't argue with that last statement. Both Cars and bikes are only as good as their Drivers/riders. However there are acctually quite a handful of Stock Production Cars which do the the Nurburgring quicker. Eg. Dodge Viper ACR, Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition, Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The Radical SR7 can do it in UNDER 7min. That smashes the time of the bike. And those are just off the top of my head.
@TheDieselhead1 fair point but just because you're in a car doesn't mean you're invulnerable. i ride a 125cc 13bhp bike and i enjoy every ride. there hasn't been a single time where i haven't got off with an ear to ear grin on my face. whereas cars dont excite me in the slightest.
@Punjabi192 I think you misread what I typed... the BMW S1000RR is a motorcycle.... it has traction control and ABS brakes that I think would be a real test for the GTR to go up against, the rider oprating the BMW motorcycle wont have to worry about holding back throttle in the corners or in straights due to wheelies and tire slide - so I"m not sure where you got M3 from ... I was talking of switching one bike for a better bike.. not going from bike to another SLOWER car :)
Change one thing, and you get a different result. There are roads where you would beat the shit out of this Nissan with a Suzuki SV650, and there are other roads where an 80hp Fiat Punto would shove the Ducati. However, as was said towards the end of the video: the car's biggest advantage is its ability to go from left to right more quickly... which, however, is virtually irrelevant off the race track.
Brett Wilkins Not really. There is a VS vid on youtube where it smokes the Atom. Anyway, the BMW is nice but now there is the all new kawasaki Ninja H2 and kawasaki Ninja H2R which has 300hp on a like what, a 180kg lightweight tube frame?
Logan Quaas I've seen plenty of straight line races where the bike lost. Twenty years ago I would have never expected a car to outrun a bike. Times have changed!
Remember that bike vs car depends on the track used. Around Nurburgring, cars could be faster, some other track, bike might be faster. Also, remember that Motogp bikes are not turbocharged like formula 1s
No supprice the car was quicker. It's a pretty small track with lots of turns. And the GTR is an exeptinally fast car for its power to weight ration. That last clip tho. Had to watch it again and again. The acceleration is brutal!
@paulturton21 you have to keep in mind that we are talking about two different things here and we are always comparing two different technologies. wet tracks let cars get away with more and tight corners (like the last two turns in donnington) favour the car again due to it's ability to break much faster and change direction faster too. look, in the end it's all about how you feel. bikes are faster yet they aren't as quick to turn and break and they need skill, cars let you get away with more.
Ducati 848 Challenge Cardwell Park top six riders laptimes were as follows 1 34 Robbie BROWN Ducati - 1:32.627 2 121 Mike EDWARDS Ducati 1:33.588 3 25 Dennis HOBBS Ducati - 1:33.313 4 58 Byron BECKETT Ducati 1:33.665 5 177 Marty NUTT Ducati - 1:33.627 6 43 James FOLKARD Ducati 1:34.332 These laptimes are very different from the 1.44. set by the Rider in this video. So it all depends on the rider!
Gxsr 1000 has done well over 250k. Bike engines are very reliable. Small component parts means high revving engines but less stress. The skyline cost a fortune to run as way more high tech and the component parts are under way more stress. The giveaway in thieves tests is they are always on wet tracks and carried out by promoters of fast cars, however there are plenty of other tests that show the contrary
A Nissan Micra has a bigger contact than the bike, that doesn't make as of a big difference as the power to weight ratio. When people want to upgrade their cars/bikes, the first 2 things they think about are increasing power and reducing weight. Like I said before, I'd love to see a bike do those times under similar conditions to the GT-R.
I just want to point out that these were Cardwell Park BSB superstock 1000's fastest laptimes in the rain and on a wet track. 1 303 Keith FARMER Kawasaki - 1:35.790 2 53 Joe BURNS Kawasaki - 1:35.508 3 22 Jason O'HALLORAN Honda 1:36.880-
I'm a huge fan of shows like Top Gear, Fifth Gear, and this show is no exception. Just why are all these shows in England? - Dubai would have about the best weather for car shows I reckon. Truly comparative times would come out of tracks that aren't endlessly wet. Just commenting because you can see the bike is not all the way down when the corners get wet - reason being, you don't have a second chance on a bike in the wet like you do a car...i'd be taking it easy too. PS GTR is awesome!
Its ridiculous comparing a 12k bike to a car that cost over 100k. At the end of the day, with the right rider, the bike is faster around the track hands down. But its not just for all the perfomence, bikes are just so fun to drive, accelerate so hard, are ''VERY'' cheap for the performence, have great gas mileage and give you a rush no car could ever give you. Its truly unique, everybody should try at least once in their lifetime.
part 2, I have a gt forester its a real practical car small turbo but you can feel the turbo drop at 5,500... though I usually just shift at 2,600 ish as I want to keep my car alive... and not have to service and fix it all the time. the GTR is fast for a car by any modern standards if you think it drops off a really high speed it is because of aerodynamics and the short gearing provides explosive acceleration in combination with a DCT (swaps clutchs thus instant gear changes)
On a track, a powerful car will mostly beat a bike, as the narrator said, they have four contact points. But as a daily routine, a bike will always win on the roads because of traffic. A road is not a raceway, if a driver wants to argue that they can corner faster, a motorcyclist can argue that in traffic they dont have to sit and twiddle thier thumbs. Good points and bad points to both, but as a general transport a bike will beat a car, as a race (On a curcuit) a car will beat a bike.
it's not only having the advantage of the wet road or the 4 contact points... the cars weight distribution combined with it's shape allows the driver to use much more force on the front brakes (where all the weight goes during the braking) so the car can brake a lot faster.. The bike's center of gravity is slightly higher than the car's and the fact that it's lighter mean that if you use to much of the front brake you will probably flip over with your face crashing on the road...

@srad66 The skylines were called ''skylines'' simply because they had inline engines. The R35 has a V engine so it is only called the GT-R.And its not a direct descendent of the skylines but of the GT-Rs.
In general,on a short, twisty track the bike has no chance. However, in circuits like Mugello with long straights where you can get all the juice from the bike it is much closer, sometimes in favor of the bike...
My only criticism of this video is that they put them both out together each time so they had to constantly be aware of one another. They should've just done separate time trials. It's much easier to concentrate on your speed and technique when you're on your own. I'm not saying it would've changed the outcome but it would've been totally equal circumstances because at one point the car driver had to back off so as not to run into the bike.
@matt37075 Ok, according to Nissan Japan's website we are both wrong. The Skyline name is now attached to the 370 coupe and crossover. Which here in the states gets the Infiniti name G37 and Murano. They claim the GTR as strictly GTR. Infiniti is only in the U.S.
correction... its actually a ducati 999 vs Galadro... which puts the ducati much less even than the 1098 which is already less than all the other 1000cc 4cyl bikes....
This is the age old debate. The bike is always faster in a straight line, but under braking and turning, the car will be faster. Everything being roughly equal of course meaning bike is race prepared, car is race prepared.
most of the comments clearly show that they haven't ridden/driven Cadwell. that place is a seriously tough track to go fast at. Its very twisty, very little run off and really technical on cambers like at the hairpin after hall bends. It takes a seriously experienced track rider to do the times that Rob is putting in. Even his times are well off the lap records. 'average' driver vs rider will be faster. wheeling over the mountain is unreal tho. cars cant do that!
The thrill factor will always be better on a bike no matter what speed. Of course, you'll need better riding skills vs a car to reach comparable speeds. The car will always be safer and would require less driving skill vs the bike. It doesn't require riding gear, for you or passengers, also road hazards are not as lethal. Snow and ice would make it a no contest.
my bit? cars- better breaking and quicker turning sbikes- much faster cross thingy bikes- fastest in turns, slow on straights at the end of the day all car vs bike comparisons are not about who's better, there is no winner. it all comes down to how you feel. for me the thrill of a bike is simply unmatchable, and going over 200 feels faster when you are sitting on a crotch rocket than when inside a car. depends on what you like. also, price difference for cars that beat bikes is ridiculous.
3 seconds is HUGE, Cars are way better than bikes. In the real world straight line isnt everything and even still, cars have a faster top speed. Cars are also better around the corners making them way better overall. Cars FTW!!!
@benjyboba Not really, fastest lap on the Ring was done by a modded 600, smaller CC bikes are lighter and can corner better. He passed like one car on his fast lap. Fastest full length lap for a bike so far is 7:46 by GSXR1000.
@theduderwiggysan Because they needed a slow bike. The Motard is built for hauling people around, which it's very good at doing by what I've heard. For a true race, you need a Sportbike, and a 1098s is a true sportbike.
@T1T4N100 "everyway imaginable." - Imagine this: You're tired of your bike because you're depressed because of smthing. You want some peace in your life, but you have to drive 15 miles to work everyday. It's raining heavily outside. What would you prefer to drive to work: bikes or cars in this 'imaginable' situation? I'll give you another example - It's a cold winter and you don't have a garage.
Because it's England and we have weather. Currently I am sat in Macclesfield where it's sunny, but Buxton, which is 10 miles away, is practically cut off today due to snow...
You guys really think this video is about which vehicle is better? They put bikes and cars against eachother because it gets them views, and they get lots of people in the comments discussing it. They could use two cars or two bikes, but then the results are so much more predictable, just look at the stats and you can determine a winner. But when you compare a car and a bike, it's a lot more exciting. The car gets destroyed by the bike in the straights, but the bike struggles with traction in the corners. You don't know who wins until they win, that's the fun part
Fact is for the price of the nissan I could probably buy a Ducati 1098 for both me and my buddy as well as all of the protective gear to keep me safe from reckless cagers! DUCs FLY TOGETHER!
@rhysizhere1 actually the back brake isn't used much because when you're braking with the front brake as hard as you can, there is very little weight at the back wheel due to all the weight shifting onto the front. So it's not really that the back brake locks up so easily, (though it does) it' that there is very little reason to use it because there isn't much traction there because of the lack of weight.
Probably not. They are faster in a straight line than most stock cars, at lower speed at least, but cars have higher potential in turns in sharp corner and brake better at lower speeds.
@qotsa630 of course it would, but if it is a track full of twists and bends, the GTR would win. This can go on and on and on and on.... The thing is, you can't compare a bike to a car. They both have their PROs and CONTRAs. but still, this was a enjoyable test...the car really stood up. It weighs SO much compared to the bike and has so little hp/kg compared to the bike....nice test
Think about how much rubber the bike has in contact with the road, roughly speaking two area's no bigger than the palm of your hand. The car has 4 huge contact points. it's simple physics, an evenly matched car will always be quicker in the corners and at braking. I'm a biker though so was rooting for the bike!
have you notice that every time the car vs the bike they always do it while still wet...... but if you watch the video like Ducati vs Ferrari, and ducati vs McLaren p1.... it is in the dry and the bikes win that easy
Trueeee many truessssss
Exactly
This is a pretty stupid conspiracy, they wouldn't have known what the track conditions were going to be when they organized this.
@@raisinade i agree i was 15 when i wrote this lol
Don't be delusional...you can google the fastest lap times around the world and every single race track has a 4-wheeler holding the record.
500 + hp 4wd car beats a 848 on a wet track. well done Mr. GTR .
@ the gtr engine is hand built so 470 isn't an exact figure it can beat 470-510hp
It's a little wet !
Not very easy for the motorbike vs a 4wdp car !
Would be fairer on a warm day on a dry track👍
the reason why the car was quicker through the corners was because it is a wet track and easy to come off the bike
"the car had a slight advantage in the damp",yeah the bloke with a gun in the knife fight had a "slight" advantage as well, have u ever ridden a bike in the damp?,obviously not.
waste of time, should of waited for a dry day. but the main diffrence in performance between car and bikes are brakes.
I'll pass them both
How come every time i see a bike of some sort versus a car its always on a wet track?
Because they always want the car to have the advantage
YoBoiSanti Nope because its england and they don't have all day to wait for a dry track.
Yeah but not all the videos on youtube with cars and bikes racing are made in england
true, but this one is.
Moneybagzsz . To be fair the car is on the same wet track. That's just the inherent disadvantage of a motorbike. Traction. Pound for pound a car will always be faster in the corners.

Franz K You got that right brother! Wet conditions really makes it dangerous on two wheels. Hope you're okay man...
cagers who stay committed to cars without trying out a bike will never know how much fun a bike is 😊
they will probably never even know what real power feels like :-)
Or just drive a caterham.
Typical boring excuses from insecure bikers when their bike lost a race :
- "let's call drivers as cagers"
- "but but bike more fun!!"
- "but but bike takes more skillz!! Look how manly i am riding my bike!!"
Comparing an AWD GTR with a bike on a wet track......surprising result......
Substantially more skill required for riding the bike in conditions like this than driving the car, not to mention guts.
Wet track...
They Can Both go fast yea, but the car will dry your pocket a lot quicker from the fuel consumption. I'll take the 3 seconds slower thanks.
Yh but the gtr is safer than the bike
nayman arif I bet if we both hit something @ 120 mph, I reckon we'd both DED.lol
Once again another car vs bike race in the wet. Maybe one day they will do a fair test !!!
Shaun Bradley What's not fair about racing in the wet?

Thats a good comprehensive answer, you have summarised this decades old debate in a single paragraph.
It's not a "due cati" and it's not a skyline either lol
your american right??
Nope
then hows it not a ducati ???
It is a ducati ;-)
@SwindleCon
My point is : I have all the fun I want on my bike, when I need comfort, I stay on the couch in my living room...
but the bike is a lot cheaper than the gtr so the bike won..... see nissan fanbois, I beat you at your own game ;)
crawler oz xD yes but it is a bike ... you can't bring 4 friends with you for example :3
Le Palmier de chez MrAntoineDaniel xD. You can, with the price of a GTR you can buy bikes for your friends at least 4 of them = 8 friends!
Godmurderer
but in a bike you can't eat potato chips with a good music in a comfortable leather seat :'(
Le Palmier de chez MrAntoineDaniel ok ill give you that! you win xD
Godmurderer
xD thank u
I found it really difficult not to fall asleep because of his commentary.
Even an Alpha 12 needs to go extremely well when drag a bike! so is there a chance for a 470hp GTR......
should of been on a dry track, it would of made a big difference, but still a very entertaining test
Always makes me laugh, bike vs car. Jesus just fucking grow up. Bikes are great I have two at the moment, cars are great I've got one of them. When I want to go fast I take the bike. Spot on
A dry track the bike would have been ahead.......good rider though, was impressed !!
When he means by very Italian he means very unreliable
The only fair "Car vs Bike" test I've seen so far where we have a bike and a car of almost the same class!!! It's a shame really what people believe when they see the MCN "430 Scuderia vs Desmosedici RR" joke...
Put Valentino Rossi on that bike and the GTR wouldnt stand a chance
same outcome
Tyler Hunt best rider in the world. would not be the same outcome.

I've always thought the same thing
Probably my favourite car vs bike video!

BAD-ASS GTR.
And kudos to the Bike & Rider.
I'm into bikes myself, but this video was very fair... Stunning ducati, very talented rider.
@MAFTulha May be, depend on how skilled you are in driving bike or car. For me i can't afford car that can provide performance as motorcycle. 10k bike usually perform as 100+k car

steve sutcliffe is a legend ! keep up the good work mate!
I've noticed that on car shows the cars win, and bike shows the bikes win. It totaly depends on conditions, track and what your in/on.
what if the turns were sharper and the road was not as wide - like a real street? would that make it even more in favour of the car or would it help the bike?
The motorcyclist had a lot of skill and showed it.The car driver liked the sound of his own voice and showed it
Agreed, cars are generally easier to control and drive, a motorbike requires more balls and skill.
also 4 contact points vs 2 contact patchs (much smaller contact patches)
cars are generally better at cornering and braking, but bikes are not useless at either and can do it quite well still. in most cases a motorcycle will win in a dry track, bikes get pretty bad fast in the rain though.
You could speculate on that, but cars do tend to age more gracefully. Most, if not all bikes, aren't designed with the sheer endurance that cars have.
this is pretty cool. but i agree with other comments, once you've ridden a bike...you know its changed your life forever.
Again the bike is better in some
I think the presenter is very fair and respectful to the bike
It's pretty simple.
1. Straight line - Bike wins (power to weight is just higher)
2. Corners - Car wins (better brakes, grip)
Try it on a dry track, with the latest bike. They have 200 hp, 180 hp at the wheel. The BMW S1000RR even outruns a Veyron
Veyron isn't a handling car, so I'm sure the bike would win, I'd bet though an Atom V8 would give the BMW a run for it's money
Brett Wilkins
That Veyron vs BMW bike race was in a straight line
DolleHengst In a straight line the bikes will always win, however with braking and cornering the cars can gain an advantage.
Logan Quaas I've seen plenty of straight line races where the bike lost. Twenty years ago I would have never expected a car to outrun a bike. Times have changed!
@ubiquitous27 There is wet sections, but those are on the straights.
Ducati 848 Challenge Cardwell Park top six riders laptimes were as follows
1 34 Robbie BROWN Ducati - 1:32.627
2 121 Mike EDWARDS Ducati 1:33.588
3 25 Dennis HOBBS Ducati - 1:33.313
4 58 Byron BECKETT Ducati 1:33.665
5 177 Marty NUTT Ducati - 1:33.627
6 43 James FOLKARD Ducati 1:34.332
These laptimes are very different from the 1.44. set by the Rider in this video. So it all depends on the rider!
And how dry the track is!
Tight track. Bike would crush the GTR on a real course
1 303 Keith FARMER Kawasaki - 1:35.790
2 53 Joe BURNS Kawasaki - 1:35.508
3 22 Jason O'HALLORAN Honda 1:36.880-
On wet weather tyres, on a race bike... not Supercorsas on a road bike...
Best of both worlds, Both great in their own right :)
part 2,
I have a gt forester its a real practical car
small turbo but you can feel the turbo drop at 5,500... though I usually just shift at 2,600 ish as I want to keep my car alive... and not have to service and fix it all the time.
the GTR is fast for a car by any modern standards
if you think it drops off a really high speed it is because of aerodynamics and the short gearing provides explosive acceleration in combination with a DCT (swaps clutchs thus instant gear changes)
"Check out the air under the back wheel!"
Well I would if you hadn't filmed this on a POTATO! lol
it's not only having the advantage of the wet road or the 4 contact points... the cars weight distribution combined with it's shape allows the driver to use much more force on the front brakes (where all the weight goes during the braking) so the car can brake a lot faster.. The bike's center of gravity is slightly higher than the car's and the fact that it's lighter mean that if you use to much of the front brake you will probably flip over with your face crashing on the road...
2012 MCE British Superbike Championship - Cardwell Park top six laptimes on a dry track. with mods
1 1 Tommy HILL GBR Yamaha - 1:27.891
2 2 Josh BROOKES AUS Suzuki -1:27.906
3 7 Michael LAVERTY GB Honda - 1:27.908
4 22 Alex LOWES GBR Honda - 1:27.804
5 46 Tommy BRIDEWELL BMW 1:28.393
6 27 James WESTMORELAND GBR Honda - Team WFR 18 26:50.276 17.425 4.834 4 87.72 1:28.731
7 5 Ian LOWRY GBR Honda - Pad
@MS3boostin a 2008 model has around 155-165 depending on dyno and break-in. It's most likely 184 at the crank, not the ground.
Caterham vs a hyper motard, not even the sports bike, vs a track orentated car.
Correct. The Skyline was the predecessor. Nissan dropped the Skyline name when they built the GTR :-)
correction... its actually a ducati 999 vs Galadro... which puts the ducati much less even than the 1098 which is already less than all the other 1000cc 4cyl bikes....
Snow and ice would make it a no contest.
my bit?
cars- better breaking and quicker turning
sbikes- much faster
cross thingy bikes- fastest in turns, slow on straights
at the end of the day all car vs bike comparisons are not about who's better, there is no winner. it all comes down to how you feel.
for me the thrill of a bike is simply unmatchable, and going over 200 feels faster when you are sitting on a crotch rocket than when inside a car. depends on what you like.
also, price difference for cars that beat bikes is ridiculous.
3 seconds is HUGE, Cars are way better than bikes. In the real world straight line isnt everything and even still, cars have a faster top speed. Cars are also better around the corners making them way better overall. Cars FTW!!!
@benjyboba
Not really, fastest lap on the Ring was done by a modded 600, smaller CC bikes are lighter and can corner better.
It's also Cadwell park... crazy elevation changes and off camber corners, about the worse track to do this test on for the bike.
@Assaiki 3 Seconds is big considering the track is relatively short. If it were a race with only 20 laps that's a full minute.
Dampness effects a bike far more than a car. And although 1 min 44 is a good time, that bike is capable of mid to low 1min 30s in perfect conditions!
