  • For Amanda, Wherein Lex and I spend Samhain/Halloween exploring Inverness, Loch Ness, Culloden Battlefield, Ben Nevis and a bunch of ancient ruins and graveyards in the Scottish Highlands!
    Oh, and I again prove I am a big dumb stupid idiot.
    Featuring the lovely Lex, whose videos are far shorter, far more instructive and far less boring: / @writingwrongs3786

    The jacobites lost culloden because the government troops DID out gun them. Not only that, the government troops had learnt a new manoeuvre where they trained to stab the man diagonally in front of him. As the highlanders reached the front their shields were vulnerable from the side.

    You're right I live in Inverness and everything is expensive!!

      @lettershome1253  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, yep! We live in stirling, so we were used to a much cheaper cost of living when we went up there.

      It's only because it's a 'tourist' destination. Its the same with every country you go to, the tourist sections are almost always more expensive. I hope you enjoyed your stay non-the-less.

      Oh absolutely! It was a blast! We're going to be heading back up there again in a few weeks with some visitors from the states. It's a gorgeous place to be certain!

    Hey there! I love your videos, but I have a question. How are you two getting around? Are you driving? I hear the public transit is pretty good there, but I had to ask since it looked like you were pretty far away from any public transit.

      Yeah, for the longer trips we drive, but there are trains available. Then again "long" is a relative term... Inverness was only 2.5 hours from stirling. We lucked out and got a really great car for super cheap from a friend, otherwise we would be using public transit. They have both trains and "CityLink" buses available. The trains tend to be cheaper and quicker in my experience.

    Your videos are great man! Know more about Scotland than me and I'm from here. Keep it up!

      Haha! Thanks! I'm glad you like them! I don't plan on stopping anytime soon, so keep an eye out. I've even been planning on writing 'letters' to some of the people who have been commenting and asking questions. Also, your country is beautiful; I feel privileged just to experience it for awhile.

      Great to hear! Major fan of the States as well. Planning on moving there one day so hearing how your coping with the differences in your experience coming here is just really interesting. Having lived in New York for 3 months your description of 'otherness' is bang on but again felt nothing but welcomed. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more of your stuff and letting my friends know.

      That's awesome! Yeah, Lex and I have already talked about trying to buy property here to let out, so that when we move back home we'll have an excuse to keep coming back. Have you been anywhere else in the US besides New York? And thank you so much for the support! You have no idea how much I appreciate it.

      Definitely should, especially in Stirling. My dad runs an Air BnB just along from your local Waitrose and its always booked. You'll have no shortage of people looking to rent it out. Yeah! Also been to Connecticut, Florida and North Carolina. My family are actually originally from Guyana. They left there and moved all across the world. Have family in North Carolina, Georgia and Texas. Also a lot up in Canada. Haha its my pleasure man, expected to see a lot more views on your videos so I'm sure you'll get there. Ps if you're here in the summer get over to Inchmahome Priory, half an hour outside of Strirling. Small island with some history but its one of my favourite places on a nice day.

      Nice! That's awesome man! If you ever get out west you'll have to check out New Mexico (where I'm from) especially up north near Taos and Santa Fe. I definitely will check out the priory. We're always looking for new places to explore. We'll just have to wait for the sun to come out!
