I really want to live in Scotland, even though I've never been there.:P And this is the first time I hear that roundabouts aren't common in the US, in the Netherlands they're everywhere. Very convenient.

I really dont see many differences in our economy, eg how we buy things, what u would do in the morning, where you would go for your tobacco etc.Apart from everything being far more expensve here dont you think? Its caled rio-off britain for good reason. When I was cuning how muc for the cst of livng in the US/Canada I was like "this is AMAZING"!
I'm studying here at the University of stirling. Yeah, it's very similar to the US in a lot of ways as far as daily life goes. It's mainly just the little differences that I notice.
The cost of living is a bit more expensive for some things, although I have noticed the essential, basic foods are much cheaper here. Bread, milk, cheese etc. The thing that is cheaper in the states are the 'high quality' meats and stuff like that.
LettersHome Stirling is a nice city for daily life, even going for a drink or something to eat after work/school. Hmm, I always thought the US, or some parts of it were much cheaper! Depends where you go of course I suppose! Like your videos m8! Keep up good work.

I had to switch the playback speed to 0.75%. I actually had to toy about with the possibility of 0.5% being necessary. That was only too slow by a narrow margin.
I had to slow it down, too, as he *does* talk very fast. Sounds a little weird, then, though.

As a recent college grad from America looking to relocate to Scotland, do you have any tips or advice on making the big move?
Just wanted to say I really enjoyed your video you really highlight some fun facts and pleasant thoughts. I'm also living in Scotland from Australia, I have to say there are lots of similarities and people here have similar humour and attitudes to Australians which makes me feel right at home. I generally find Americans annoying (sorry) but you my friend are far from it. I love your fast speech, I watch old Hollywood films to enjoy speedy dialogue and it was refreshing to hear a quick and funny American.

+heather calder Sure, I have plenty! First and foremost, no matter what type of Visa you are applying to get, I would recommend starting the process as soon as your particular application will let you do so. The UK Visa process is long and complicated, and the rules differ for what sort of visa you are planning on getting, but no matter which one you are going for they all take a long time, and they all end up being more of a hassle than you thought it would be (or at least, that was my case, and the case of several other people I know who have come here). But don't let that put you off. This is a beautiful country and was worth every second of hassle.
Second, what sort of suggestions are you looking for? Like where to live or how to settle or what places have good food? Are you coming to live permanently or just for school or work? Whereabouts in the highlands were you looking to live?

I am wanting to move their permanently. I do not enjoy the USA, my goal is to one day live on a farm and survive off land and agricultural business I do not know much about the highlands.
Well then my first piece of advice is to research the settlement visa process extensively, but the gist is this: the UK visa process works on points and tiers. You get more points for being more valuable to the country, and different tiers give you different opportunities (like the ability to work within the country or eventually settle). As far as I understand it, you need to be working within the UK for 5 years before they let you apply to settle permanently. Check out www.tier12345.co.uk/ for more info on the tiers, and check out www.gov.uk/browse/visas-immigration for more general info on how to settle in the UK.
Either way, I can tell you that farming is a huge industry here, most of the open land in Scotland is dedicated to farms and sheep. So that may work in your favor, but I am by no means an immigration lawyer, so don't hold me to any of this.
But I really hope some of what I said can help you, or at least point you in the right direction!
I haven't caught up on your other videos (this is the first one i've seen).. but my fiance lives in scotland and i'm in the U.S. I'm trying to decide if I should move to scotland or if he should move here. I'm from Indiana.. are you glad you are in Scotland? or do you find yourself missing home a lot. I'm most nervous about finding a job..
I absolutely love Scotland, especially since I'm from New Mexico and the desert I'm used to is drastically different to all the greenery and rain here. There are a few things I miss about home, which you can see in my thanksgiving video, mostly I miss my friends and family more than anything else, but skype and what'sap have helped a lot with that. I love it here so much that my girlfriend and I are seriously considering buying a place here, renting it out while we are in the states and then having a place to stay so we can come back whenever we want.
As far as the job front goes, it's been difficult for me to find a job, but that's because of my visa restrictions. In your case you'll be wanting to get a settlement/marriage visa, which is a whole different ballgame. I'm not a lawyer or anything, but I'm pretty sure that visa will allow you to work full time, so it should be easier finding work.
Whatever you decide to do though (you moving here, or him moving to the states) I would highly recommend talking to an immigration lawyer. Marriage visas are extremely complex whether your getting one for the UK or the US. The good news though, is that once you have them, you'll eventually get residency and you can move back and forth as much as you want.

I just play it back at 0.75% speed, and it seems normal then. For this particular video, I even contemplated the 0.5% playback speed, but that was too slow. I think if there was something in between those two, I would have taken it.

I'm surprised so many people were social and came up to speak to you.. I live in Scotland and it seems like I rarely speak to people I don't know out in the streets. I thought we were more antisocial than anything 😂
Trust me, it's way worse in the states. Especially in big cities. Like, if you even try to strike up a conversation with someone at a bus stop or something like that, it's not uncommon to be met with hostility or weird looks. It's like people think you must be crazy if you're willing to talk to a random person.
