It is the best thing I have done in my life. It is important to serve with a whole heart. It goes so fast, it might not seems so at times, but once it is finished, we cannot go back and change things. I have loved being a missionary. It is one thing that sticks with you all your life. One never forgets. What we forget is the hard times. What we remember mostly is how we felt, the joy of serving and the great experiences and testimonies. We laugh when remembering the not so nice ones and see how blessed we were to get through them with the help of the Lord... We have fought the good fight and it has made us stronger.
I used to check out this VHS from the church library almost every other Sunday growing up. I’m 38 years old and I still get the same goosebumps watching it now as I did then. Serving a mission was one of the best experiences of my life.

Thank you for sharing "Called to Serve" here!!! As a Convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in my late 20's & with a young family at that time, I didn't have an opportunity to serve a mission -- although I would have loved to do so if my circumstances had been different when I found the Church! Because I would have never had the Blessing of the Fulness of the Gospel without missionaries, I am Forever grateful for the Missionary Work of the Church & my Missionary Couple (with whom I kept in touch until Heavenly Father took each of them home unto Him -- she in June 2009, & he in October 2009)! Now that my children are grown, I hope that I have the opportunity to serve a mission some day after my husband retires from his job! Thank you!!!
Serving others, whether it is your family or anyone else, is definitely doing the Lord's work! My children are grown & are now parents themselves, but I have learned that service is service regardless of whom we serve! Have a good day!
My mother says this is one of the best video👍👏 She watched this when she was being taught, by her missionaries!❤😉 Who she loves, to this day and praises always for there wonderful, and Godly service.😊❤

The best decision I ever made was serving a mission! The Virginia Richmond Mission will forever hold a special place in my heart and I am eternally grateful that I was able to go and serve, those 2 years were the training ground for the rest of my life and I see its blessings almost 10 years later!
Thanks for sharing this video. This video helped me make the decision to serve a mission twenty years ago. I've shared it with my seminary class and they love it too!
This video used to inspire but with the understanding I have now of Jesus as my God and Savior, I am free from these ideas that bound me against knowing the will for my life as a Christian and servant to Jesus instead of working for an organization. Praise the Lord I have been freed from this bondage and can now live for Him alone.

To the poster of this video, it may not hurt to point out that the video was made in the early '90s, instead of the '80s. Minor detail, mind you.

At 17:52, I believe that must be Elder Peter M. Johnson, the newly called African American General Authority as a young missionary.
