Good video! The most important thing for me to have known would have been that the camera only detects motion in it's center field of view. So you are only getting motion detection on about 110 degree viewing angle. It will track out of field once the motion detection picks something up but if they never walk into the cameras main field of view no motion will be detected, so no trigger to record. I have a large parcel and hoped that this would help cover more area per camera but it does not. Eufy support states that adding eufy motion sensors to the outer angles will not work, either. Great camera for standard sized lots or properties that are only accessible from one side.
Hi, it's me again. Thanks for the prompt reply. Please, after a power outage, do the footages already in the cameras load automatically to the hb3? I'm researching to purchase and we do have outages in my country ...
When shopping for the HB3 expansion storage drive, what specs does the does the drive need to install in the HB3? Sorry, I'm not good enough to tell by looking at the video. Thanks in advance!
How’s the solar in cloudy UK? Currently have Ring cameras with solar panels and even in the dead of winter with no direct sunlight, it manages to keep the cameras always charged at 100%. Looking to replace them with Eufy and do away with the Ring monthly plan.
I see you have a synology. It would be cool if they could record to surveillance station or at least off load backups to the synology with an app or plugin.
I have a homebase 2 and have it backup to my qnap Nas where I have it saved on there for 1 year so don't have to worry about the limit of 16gb. I probably could have bought a cheap usb drive but that just becomes more hassle.
@@grumpySafa That's pretty sweet. Are you techinally backing up the HB2 to the NAS somehow (i don't see that option) or are you doing RTSP from the camera to your NAS, which I read on reddit you can do both, a HB2 and RTSP to a NAS? If are backing up the HB2 directly, how are you doing it? Unfortunately, eufy's newest cameras with dual lenses (like this one in the video) don't have an RTSP/NAS option at all.
@@ModernDayTech I setup this around 2019 when Eufy was still in it's infancy. Also on my Qnap I got a free Qsurveillance license to use their application. In the application you can scan for devices or manually type in the configuration info. I put in my homebase IP and after setting it up I started capturing the footage. It didn't pull in historic files, only newer captures.
Thanks a lot for the video! I have two ongoing worries with all these cameras and systems. What is the actual and usable range of the cameras to the hub and the reliability of solar charging performance? All systems like I tried the cameras never charge enough and all end up without power during overcast days and worse, never have enough range to connect to the hub unless they are very near. I have a ranch house where the cameras outside are all very far away from each other and the hub and this is all useless and never works. I am yet to find ONE wireless camera security system that actually works unless they are old fashion wired systems.
I have 3 eufy cameras and they are amazing! Absolutely love them and wouldn’t buy anything else, except maybe a fully wired setup, but that’s so much more work and expensive.
Thanks for the video. Can you do color night vision without having the light on? For example what if you already have some kind of light source already and you don't want the bright camera led light on
No, color night vision is not "true" color night vision. The light has to be on, but stay tuned. The technology is now here and we'll see true color night vision in new products coming out sometime in 2025.
They are rated for -4°F to 122°F / -20°C to 50°C. Understand the nature of solar, its even more important for good sun placement during winter months due to less production and shorter days.
@ModernDayTech thanks for ur reply. I was just curious if this is worth buying during winter months and also due to its expensive price. I was also looking into AOSU Solar Camera Security for a lower price. I was comparing between the 2 of them.
No, its only clip recording to the local internal memory or clip recordings to the HB3. I don't know of any brand that has "battery/solar" security camera that can do 24/7 recording. Eufy has few 24/7 cameras but they are all wired.
I have a eufy 2.6 W solar panel that says it's compatible with all solo cams. can you tell me if it will work with the s340 solo cam as it uses slightly less wattage.
I have a s40. It sucks. I live in central america always sun and the battery wont last 2 week. And than the worst part. Once its empty the solar doesnt charge the battery so u have to get on the ladder again take the cam off charge it put it bavk. Also the alarm zones cant have different settings. Like on the outside of the gate i want just the light to go on. But when movement on the inside is detected the alarm has to go off. The wifi is also not that strong. I figured out what drains the battery. Everytime a car passes at night the headlights give off a heat signal. And i cant turn the cam further away else i wont see the gate anymore
U need better router..I have a s340 over 55ft away and on the opposite side of the house..perfect wifi full bars..I'm using netgear gaming router Nighthawk X10 AD7200

It's very nice camera but it should be with 3 4 days recording in local storage at least.it only have is motion not 24 hours record. I have paid also buckup cloud and lt say my device is not supported
Does this REQUIRE the Home Base? Or is using it optional? The Home Base has been bricking a LOT of user's cameras recently, and it's become a risk. Many to most people are opting for non-Home Base cameras now.
How does the S340 compare with S40? Is S40 superior in image quality or something? In my country the S340 is cheaper than S40 but it seems more advanced with tilt/pan and dual lenses etc which is odd.
Keep in mind that this is a battery camera. You would kill the battery in no time if you keep the live feed on, but yes there is webpage but you have to go into the app first to authorize the live feed for 1, 8,12,or 24 hours. Kind of lame in that department so if you want something you can keep on all time, you should look into POE cameras.
What, i dont get it. So if it records to the camera only without the other part inside home. Then does that mean you cant see the recorded video on camera unless you remove the camera to see?
From the events tab. You can filter down to the device and date. You can also click little box (with a number in it) on the thumbail of device to automatically filter to only that device.
I just bought this as my first security camera and I really dislike it. I need a camera that will give a live view that comes on when there is movement. If anyone knows of one that does this please let me know.
If u get a hit and click on it it will send you to the recorded event otherwise tap the camera for live view instead of recorded view. I do this all the time. It’s not complicated
Physicall yes, If you're handy, you can jerry rig it to a roof top once you remove the solar panel and place it elsewhere. But there is no way to turn the footage 180° in the app that I have found. Also the extra heat from the roof will kill it in no time, so I wouldn't recommend it.
So my wife is home alone. I work nights. She's asleep and I want to get notifications on my phone if there is someone approaching. Does this do that? It appears I can log in and view but just wondering if there is a motion detection/notification option. Thanks.
Yes almost all smart cameras these days have notifications and event logs. Most are clip recordings and not recording 24/7. You want to compare how long clips will be stored and how you can access them. Some companies charge fees to access and store them in the cloud and others store footage right on the camera. There’s some other options too but just know almost every camera system has notifications and event log. You’ll want to research other factors since they pretty much all have the basics you just ask for.
Is there anybody can help me to find out my camera’s play back or previous videos and one thing more me and my husband are in different countries how can we share our device with both
There are too many factors for anyone to give you an exact answer. You need to test for your router and your specific environment. The distance from the Wi-Fi router can vary depending on the strength of your router's signal, obstacles like walls or furniture, and any interference from other devices.
I have the solo cam s340 and the T8530 doorbell cam and they both constantly miss events. The door records to the doorbell chime SD card and the outdoor cam records to the Homebase 3. I have checked all settings / firmware updates and still cant figure out why they miss events. Anyone with these issues?
Does this camera have LIVE COVERAGE ? Meaning, as S340 camera is WIFI connected - does it give me live coverage on my mobile device. While i am away from home/camera ?
Can you set it to one position and not have it follow motion? I need one pointing directly at my cars and I don’t want it to look elsewhere unless I command it.
Are you able to turn the nightvision IR lights on and off in a setting? I nned to be able to disable the IR lights at certain times and also do not want the light coming on.
Yes, there is a night vision setting, which includes black and white night vision with IR LEDs, color night vision with the spotlight, and an option to turn it off. However, it's a manual setting that cannot be automated based on specific times. (By the way, I'm not positive, but I also don't think the IR stays on constantly; it only comes on when it detects motion or when you access the live feed.) I hope this helps you
Love it. (except for the cost of both the HB3 and drive) Having the footage stored inside my house is more ideal for me over storing it on the device or in the cloud. Plus the addtional features are pretty cool.
There is integration with Google Home and Alexa but its only seeing the live feed. You have no control and the connection is not stable in Google. The old RTSP feature of Eufy has been removed since they added the HB3. I hope that helps you but if you have specfic use, feel free to ask and if I can help I will or maybe someone else can.
can you install Eufy S340 Solocam on a house with Vinyl siding. Do you install the anchors in the hole of the Vinyl siding provided with the camera? Thanks in advance for your reply
Only if you want to damage your siding. You can go right through the siding into the sheathing but I would not. They also have this siding mount - amzn.to/3TK5OA0 (affiliate link)
@@ModernDayTech I wished I had asked you before because I tried to use the anchors supplied after drilling holes in my White siding on two separate locations as the first did NOT work and neither did the second one, so I am getting what they call a siding patch(White). Do you know anyone who has used this and does it work? Please let me know before I outlay more hard earned money behind it. Thanks. Waiting for your quick reply like last time.
@@ModernDayTech The above suggestion link is great but they say that people could steal the security camera if it is NOT installed into the house. My question again is, do you need to use the supplied anchor to drill into the siding or can you screw it directly into the siding with a 2 1/8 inch screw directly into the siding an I am sure it will catch the wood siding that the Vinyl siding is covering. I do NOT wish you damage my siding anymore than I already have. Thanks for your time.
Theres a lot factors involved including the height and angle of the camera but roughly it's 30 feet, plus you can adjust the motion activity zone and detection sensitvity from 1 to 7. You'll have to test for your specfic setup.
Questions. If I use the base 3 station like you mention for great storage. Will it all the camera to continually record footage or still on clips based on motion detection? Q2. If recording to the base station. And I don’t pay for their cloud storage. How do I access my footage when away from home?
Hey Tony, according to the FAQs, it will only record on the HB3 once you designate it, not both. To view footage that might have been recorded on the camera previously, you'll have to disconnect the HB3 to see the camera's storage. You can still access the HB3 via the Eufy app remotely. Remember, cloud storage is different from cloud access. I hope that helps.
@@TechWithTony I'm not 100% sure what youre asking but it's not 24/7 "continously" recording. It only records to the base station when it sees motion. However their new wired floodlight cam has 24/7 recording option but their solar cameras do not. I'll feature the 24/7 floodlight cam in another video soon as there aresome minor restrictions to get the feature.
Yes, I love it, but understand that placement and a good understanding of the device are paramount. You need great WiFi and sunlight at the location. You can not mount it too high, and it's only for clip recordings. Do your homework and make sure you buy it from a place that has a great return policy just in case it's not for you. But as you can read the reviews, it's mostly positive, but it's definitely not perfect. Nothing is.
I have the Eufy 2 pro wireless. And it's basically a live feed. It doesn't record ANY night activities. All our cars have been broken into. This camera recorded NONE of it !!! I'm about to go to Ring.
Yes and No. It has vehicle and pet detection in beta when you have it synced with the homebase 3. Although its in beta, its works pretty good. But without the HB3, no it does have specifc detection, just normal detection of any movement including vehicles and pets or anything else.
I cannot get the QR code to scan in order to add this camera along with the rest of my Eufy cameras. Just bought the HomeBase so hopefully that will work. I tried everything: IOS up to date, deleted and reinstalled the Eufy app, checked iPhone settings. Tried on both my iPhone and brand new iPad…no luck. I have installed several, other Eufy cameras seamlessly.
I watched at least 10 reviews for this camera, everyone talks about the best security camera ever but when i read the comments all i see is unhappy dissapointed people :-)
It's definitely not perfect, but it all depends on your expectations and what you focus on. 81% of Amazon reviews are 4 and 5 stars, which is pretty good. Also, remember that most people who are satisfied don't leave a review. As for me, all I can say is that I love it. I'm not sponsored by Eufy, although they did provide this unit. I've also purchased many other Eufy products with my own money because I like their products
@Luz Santoyo, i can see your comment in my notifications but under the video it has been censored. TH-cam has become impossible to use for comments lately with all censorship
For $200 (I think the price is still high), I'd like to see either more internal memory/storage (16-32Gb) or the ability to install a larger capacity SD card (and while I currently have 4 other Eufy cams around my property, I have zero desire to invest in a Homebase).
How is it setup that depends a lot how it's going to function. I have 9 Eufy cameras and all are working as described from Eufy. You have to change the settings every couple days probably a few weeks and it does learn how it's progressing. These cameras Learn from you or they will stay on factory settings and maybe never work how you want.
This camera is a total piece of shit I just paid $200 for it at Best Buy. And took it home upon trying to activate it. It kept telling me cannot connect to network. I tried this nearly 35 times then I took it back to exchange it for another one. Thinking it was the problem and with the second one I got the same issue. Never got the chance to see how the damn thing even works. Because it keeps saying cannot connect to network, Before putting in wi fi password, it states that the unit can only handle a 2.4ghz router Which is weird because my router has 2 parts to it. A 2.4 GHz and a 5 GHz. So I don't see what the hell the problem is. TERRIBLE PRODUCT
The Eufy app won’t scan the QR code for this camera but does for other models. I ordered the HomeBase to see if that works. I think installing this camera is glitchy in their app. They need to correct it. I feel your frustration!

@@ModernDayTechthanks just ordered yesterday I’m glad I saw this video because Newegg advertised for 60 off original price
How high did you mount the device?
They recommend 7-10 ft. I think I'm around 11-12ft. and I still have good notifcations.
(By the way, I'm not positive, but I also don't think the IR stays on constantly; it only comes on when it detects motion or when you access the live feed.) I hope this helps you
What's your opinion on the HB3 ?
Love it. (except for the cost of both the HB3 and drive) Having the footage stored inside my house is more ideal for me over storing it on the device or in the cloud. Plus the addtional features are pretty cool.
Is it compatible with cloud service?
There is integration with Google Home and Alexa but its only seeing the live feed. You have no control and the connection is not stable in Google. The old RTSP feature of Eufy has been removed since they added the HB3. I hope that helps you but if you have specfic use, feel free to ask and if I can help I will or maybe someone else can.
clearly not ideal in the uk looks smart😂is it apple home kit compatible with icloud + storage?
Yeah, I've never been to the UK but Ive see a lot photos. It always seem cloudy.
can you install Eufy S340 Solocam on a house with Vinyl siding.
@@ModernDayTech Thanks for your quick response.
@@ModernDayTech I bought 2 of these thru your above link. It is going to be high enough so hopefully does NOT get stolen. Thanks
How long does it record videos?? Hoe long are the video??? Jill
whats the max motion range?
So to clarify. Will it record continuously or only if there’s nothing when concocted to the base station.
@TechWithTony They say their wired cams record 24/7 and these battery/solar cams record on detected motion/people/pets and so on.
What happens when 8gb memory will be ful? Do I need climb on tree for remove memory?
It writes over it.
One more question. Does memory saves in camera or in phone?
In case if cam will be stolen, do I will have all data?
is it reliable?
Yes, I love it, but understand that placement and a good understanding of the device are paramount. You need great WiFi and sunlight at the location. You can not mount it too high, and it's only for clip recordings. Do your homework and make sure you buy it from a place that has a great return policy just in case it's not for you. But as you can read the reviews, it's mostly positive, but it's definitely not perfect. Nothing is.
thank you appreciate your input.@@ModernDayTech
Can you put an SD card in it?
No, it has 8GB internal memory for your clip recordings. You can also sync this with the HB3 that can save your clips up to 16TB.
16gb
I have the Eufy 2 pro wireless. And it's basically a live feed. It doesn't record ANY night activities. All our cars have been broken into. This camera recorded NONE of it !!! I'm about to go to Ring.
Sounds like you set them up wrong
Does it have vehicle or pet detection?
Yes and No. It has vehicle and pet detection in beta when you have it synced with the homebase 3. Although its in beta, its works pretty good. But without the HB3, no it does have specifc detection, just normal detection of any movement including vehicles and pets or anything else.
It doesn't read vehicle plates
Did you buy this camera?

I cannot get the QR code to scan in order to add this camera along with the rest of my Eufy cameras. Just bought the HomeBase so hopefully that will work.
I tried everything: IOS up to date, deleted and reinstalled the Eufy app, checked iPhone settings. Tried on both my iPhone and brand new iPad…no luck.
I have installed several, other Eufy cameras seamlessly.
Contact eufy support.

$200 bucks??? Sorry but I'll pass.
Thats the full price but they've been around $100-139 during sales.
Cheapskate
@@ModernDayTechwhere have you seen it for that price?
Probably gets a new $1000 phone each release though...
Sometime on Amazon but mostly on TikTok - www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8KUBGqv/
Camera does not detect animals(pets) slow notification time with humans and cars. Returning...
What did u end up purchasing instead…thx
How is it setup that depends a lot how it's going to function. I have 9 Eufy cameras and all are working as described from Eufy.
You have to change the settings every couple days probably a few weeks and it does learn how it's progressing. These cameras Learn from you or they will stay on factory settings and maybe never work how you want.
Yes, My camera was learning..but notifications were way to slow for what I needed.@@lickalittle
Mine do
Agreed all my eufy are hit or miss on motions
Still waiting several minutes just to view local clips with Eufy's atrocious attempt at encryption?
Just like all other Eufy battery powered camera, it will die within a couple of years. So basically is a throw away as the battery is not removable.
4 years with 9 camera's and zero have been replaced

Cloud storage is NOT supported on this device
to bad cant record 24/7
Can I use this camera with my HB2???
No
By what means can the camera connect to hb3 at 200 meters?
The HB3 is the HomeBase 3. It can connect to your network by Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi.
