Isn't the Delaktig a remake of the FLOTTEBO designed by C Halscov previously?. It simply looks like they upgraded an already existing Item. I cannot see the 'design' that Tom Dixon has given to it.
But these couches are very different. Differences: 1. The delaktig has a loose slatted base. The flottebo has not. 2. The flottebo has a storage area under the seat (by lifting the seat). The delaktig has not. 3. The delaktig has a fixed aluminum backboard for the cushions. The flottebo has not. 4. The delaktig has separate/different armrests. The flottebo has not. 5. You can fix a table as an armrest or a lamp to the delaktig. Not to the flottebo. You can add a swing table to the delaktig and the flottebo. 6. The delaktig has a 100% aluminum frame and aluminum chair legs. The delaktig is more versatile. On the other hand, the flottebo has some build in storage capacity. I prefer the better quality and versatility of the delaktig, despite the higher price. This is, of course, a personal opinion and personal preference. Personally I consider the comfort experience while sleeping different. That is, the loose mattrass of the delaktig is firmly fit into the aluminum frame. Which makes the sides more supporting when used as a bed.
I'm sad that I didn't learn that this was Tom's project ahead of time. All that's gone into this, I would have loved to have bought it for my old studio apartment. Whelp, next time! 😉
so then they have released the bed version of the same delaktig system, not sure about the timeline of the releases. I work at an Ikea store and they never teach us about this system's functionalities until I'm interested in it for a purchase, personally. I guess different region has a slightly to marginally difference in marketing a product strategically.
Disappointed that IKEA would market as a sofa, diverting the designers idea to market it as a bed first in order to avoid safety testing and save money. Especially IKEA being aware the product would be used mainly by students and young adults.
After I read the title I just tought. "It's a futton"

FLOTTEBO was the sofa I previously considered. I bought the delaktig instead. The designs are totally different. You can check that yourself at IKEA.
@@wimahlers Took a look, they look practically the same and MAYBE that is why you considered BOTH.

"It's super strong"

Oh the tension. Makes my Delaktig pieces feel like cursed, haunted objects. Sorry, Tom... my Delaktig ‘bed’ 😉

800€ for a Ikea couch/bed (0.0’) way too much
It is absolutely worth it. This sofa/bed outclasses many couches that are twice as expensive. Don't take my word for it, just check and verify it.

I have long thought of this design so as to repurpose my single bed mattress. They took so long to come out of this design
