    I'm glad you got to do that. I didn't get a family day or boot leave. In fact, it was 9 months after I joined that I finally got to see my family. Congratulations to this new marine and her family 😊

      @@kellypriscilla718 You're awesome & thank you! I've been receiving the info from the base and just don't want to break any rules, especially violating SGT MAJOR'S GRASS RULE, LOL...We're leaving in the morning from Atlanta to make it for the orientation/tour. We plan to be at the entrance both Thursday/Friday by 5am to prayerfully avoid the traffic madness. He requested his favorite meal which I will prepare for Family Day. Are there microwaves available and since we can't touch the grass is there space to sit out and eat? Also, is the MOTO run long, that we should bring chairs?

    • @kellypriscilla718
      @kellypriscilla718  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know they say all that about the grass but when the parking lot reaches capacity there’s a designated grass area for families to park. And there’s spots around the base to grill so you just need charcoal or you can bring your own little portable grill. I know inside of the MCX looking in, to your left past the cashiers area where there’s like a little food corner (milkshake machine, coffee machine, and the little tornados rolls) there’s a small little microwave. And yes traffic upon entering the depot is crazy. Gates for families don’t open until 0530. As far as MOTO run you won’t need chairs. They’ll be on the parade deck as you saw in the video and then run a few times around the parade deck and in the street. It doesn’t take that long so you can just stand cheering everyone on. If you want to take chairs so that you can have for your time being on PI you can but it isn’t necessary. (-:

Marines call each other all kinds of names, here's a few... Recruit, Boot, Grunt, POG, Office Poggy, but the greatest honor is to be called a Marine. Once a Marine always a Marine. • @kellypriscilla718
      @kellypriscilla718  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi!! So I reached out to her and she said
      ‘Senior drill instructors offer the chance to send mail in Spanish
      If there’s a document they want you to send home simply request it in Spanish and they’ll get it for you, becuase twowards the end, they give you a paper about graduation, family day and bootleave and you can get a Spanish version or simple you can write to your parents like a month beofre or 3 weeks before’

    • @kellypriscilla718
      @kellypriscilla718  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      ‘Big advice would be, just know it’s all staged, don’t take anything personal, don’t standout, you will be nervous for the first 3 weeks but I promise it doesn’t easier, you just get stronger mentally and physically, just know the girl next to you is also going through it and that one day, you will make it’

      As soon as you get off the bus and stand on the yellow footprints, take a second to think about every Marine that has stood there before you; you're joining a family with a lot of history. Read the words above the doors as you go inside; they'll stick with you for life.

    How many pullups was she able to do before she left? What helped her improve?

    • @kellypriscilla718
      @kellypriscilla718  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Her reply to this was ‘Okay so I’m able to do 5, 7 is max score of 100 on the PFT. To improve there really isn’t much besides doing upper body workouts during 1 hour free time at boot camp. Advice would be, you should be fit before going becuase if I’m being honest with you, you don’t PT much at all. You are expected to pass the PT events. Personally i don’t think boot camp is about getting stronger just about already being able to physically pass PFT CFT random 2-3 miles runs you do a lot of hikes like a 5k, 8k, 10k, 12k, and a 15k aka the crucible. You can not fall out, I mean you can but no don’t be pathetic
      It took me 2 hikes to be able to hike and from there it was easy with like 50lb packs being the heaviest In summary BE FIT BEFORE GOING!!! I suggest having a 8minutes or less mile will get you exactly where you need to be for boot camp and 3 pull-ups being the minimum to do good on scores, and over 100 sit ups. And what I would tell myself is I will eventually make it back to my bed, the day basically ends @5pm after evening chow’
