I was there summer 2024 we didn't take the drug test until day 3 of P-Days I think
The day you take your drug test is determined by what day of the week your arrive. It’s within the first 72 hours of arrival! I got there the beginning of the week so i literally walked into the building made my call home went into the big main classroom and we were told to go and do our urinalysis.
Will I be the only male in class ?🥲
I had 3 males in my class! It all varies, you may or may not be the only one. Sorry I don’t have a better answer for you :(
@ Do you think it’s a good rate ? If so, What’s great about it ?… thanks for the reply to.
I love my job I really wouldn’t change it for the world, i love health care and patients. Being an HM isn’t for everyone, it requires a lot of customer service/ social interaction and skills, then of course health care on top of that, so if you don’t like any of those requirements that comes with the job than it’s not for you. As an HM you provide a service to someone so i always take care of my patients as if they were my family and also as if i was them because i would want the same service reciprocated to me! I love the patient to provider interactions, i love medicine and dentistry so i get the best of both world with my job specifically. I love all that i’ve learned so far and what i continue to learn on a daily basis. this job- and also being in the navy has opened so many doors for me so im very passionate about what it is that i do!

Were u able to use ur experience as a dental corps to the civilian world?
I haven’t worked in the civilian world as a dental assistant! I’m still active duty (:
@@kellypriscilla718 kelly do we have a day off every week? 😂like we still clock in on a boat but we just do what we want…
You still work your normal hours on the boat, if you’re pier side aka not underway then you have the weekends off unless you’re on duty. When you’re underway or if you’re on deployment you pretty much work 7 days a week. Your department head can give you holiday routine but it varies on every ship.
Can I bring my Bible? What about Vaseline?
Yes you can bring a bible, I’d recommend you bring a smaller once since space is limited. You can bring vaseline, they let us keep it. Some RDCS make you throw it away on night of arrival.
How you get stuff when you go to A school? (Clothes, laptop etc ) you can’t bring too much to bootcamp because if it doesn’t fit in the box it has to be given away right ? Your family ship you a luggage or you buy new stuff once in A school ?
The box you pack up in bootcamp with your stuff you take gets sent to a storage facility and then you get it a few nights before graduation but you can’t open it until graduation. Your family can bring you a suitcase with them to your graduation and take it to the airport the day you leave so that you can take it with you to A-School. They have to take it to the airport, they will not let you bring it back to RTC with you. You can also have your family mail you your clothes in a box once you get to A-School but that can get expensive. You can also buy stuff from the NEX once you get to A-School but again that can get expensive
@@kellypriscilla718 thank you
@conradobri you’re welcome!
I can’t wait to join the Navy!! Been studying and training really hard for boot camp!! 😍💖

What was the DEP test like? Was it Hard and what was mostly on it?
It’s on everything that’s in the book that they give you when you pick your rate at MEPS. From what I remember it was rank and recognition, the phonetic alphabet and some other things. I don’t remember much other than that. I would say it will be hard if you never look over the book. But if you fail it it’s not that serious.
Great video, excited and terrified to experience it for myself!
You can do it!! Congratulations on making the decision to enlist!
Did you leave the makeup you used for graduation with your phone or did you take it with you to your drawer?
My phone was put away in my box, my makeup is kept with me in my A&B drawer, you’re able to also buy some makeup at the recruit NEX. Your RDCs will tell you when it’s okay to buy it, some RDCs won’t let you buy it until a few days prior to your recruit photo/graduation.
can women bring pads
Yes!

🥺Hola Jenny!!!
Clean every day from 30 minutes to an hour? Yeah no. I was forward hold PO. I had to clean every 10 minutes I was in the compartment in order to keep that dusty ass room SAT. And it was winter, so everyone was constantly getting sick and vomiting in the head. So, we had the bleach the entire compartment every time we got the house on spot. Other than that, though this video was pretty spot on from what I experienced. One thing to note is you're going to feel like a complete waste of oxygen the first couple weeks. You don't know what you're doing and no one else knows what they're doing. But after the first couple weeks bootcamp was easy as hell. It may not feel like it, but it is. 9 times out of 10 if you don't know what to do just follow everyone else and you'll succeed.
Hey everyone’s experience is different! Also you had the position and responsibility of being the forward hold PO and i didn’t it so we had really different experiences. Your RDC’s also make the experience different for sureee!!!
Did they let you keep your makeup and wear some in bootcamp?
You couldn’t wear it during bootcamp, only when it was time for your photos to get taken and for graduation!
Hey I leave may 18 will they send you on the ship after a school??
It depends on what orders are available!
shipmate, I was Navy submarines 1999 to 2003....STS3(SS)....we need another video from you 🙂
Will definitely put out a video when i’m back home from being out to sea!!!
@@kellypriscilla718hey! I’m 30 and looking to go full service. Do you think it’s worth it? Boot camp is not a problem my only issue would be am I making the right choice. I have a decent job but want something better. Let me know. (Also nice videos!)
Thank you for the video. If you don't mind me asking, what were the two tests on? Also, I do ship out for boot camp June 24, 2024. Right after, I will be headed to MM A School.
The two tests are based on the lectures that you attend and from the book that’s given to you! It’s very broad, navy uniform & regulation, ships, aircraft, etc. Good luck to you! If you have any questions let me know. There might be a delay with responses due to my current duty station status.
Is it true that if I enter navy with +60 college credits/hours I get to skip rank?
The highest rank you can achieve as enlist prior to bootcamp is E-3 which is a seaman. If you’re close to getting your bachelors since you have over 60 credits I’d wait to join so you can commission as an officer! I hope this helps 😊
❤❤❤ hermoso USMC 🙌💪
Really appreciate this information i also got the rate as hmda and I’m really excited, if you don’t mind me asking what college did you get enrolled in and is it fully online and how long after A school did you get to get enrolled in a college because I’m definitely trying to take advantage of that?
Yay! I hope you enjoy being a dental assistant as much as i do! I enrolled into school once i got into my first command and i go to a school where im from- fully online. I paid for it through FAFSA.
Very nice video. Thank you for your service and good luck and god bless you on your journey. My son is currently in boot camp.
Thank you!!
@KellyPriscilla whats your email hun?
So funny when you say people from different countries 😂🤣
Haha how so?
I have a question. I am going as a HM. If there anyway I can try out for the SARC and stuff during my A school or something. Or apply for that or would I have to have a different contract. Because I would love to be one but idk how all that works yet. I leave on Aug 30th
Hello, I want to do this too, did you figure it out?
Gotta talk to the recruiter to see if those options are available. If no try outs, get all the schooling you can asap. Then apply
Do they do dental work during the processes? When u arrive at boot camp
During processing week you’ll get a dental exam, from that exam if the dentist say that you need treatment that needs to get done soon then you get it done in bootcamp if not it’ll be done later on when they get to their first duty station. I hope this helps(: If you have any other question let me know !
THANK YOU!!
Great video
que emoción! mi novia se gradúa el 23 de junio, cant wait to see her en el Family Day

Love the advice about being your own person and getting what you wanna get if you want it.
Of course! That’s the advice i give to everyone no matter what is going on in their lives.
So after bootcamp that’s 10 weeks.. it’s a school and then c school? How long are each of those??
A-School is about 14 weeks and C-School is 6 weeks if i am not mistaken !
Hi! I’m already a DA so when I join do you think to become a DA in the navy I still have to go thru all the training even if I’m already licensed ? How long was your a school to become a DA?

It all depends on your ASVAB scores ! And yes you still have to go through all of the schooling to be a dental assistant in the Navy. Our school is about 5-6 weeks if i can recall correctly.
So if I want to choose hospital corpsman as navy carrier do I need to have a certificate or experience?
@@NationsHand-fr3zf Not at all, they teach you everything you need to know as the basics in A-School, everything else comes with experience once you get to your first duty station (:
My daughter is in her week 2, she has shoulder length dreads. Will she b ok? Whn do I send form in for graduation for Great Lakes? I sent her 2 letters online through sandbox but I haven’t heard from her.
She should be! As long as she can put her hair in a bun she should be okay. You can send it to her now and she will just hold on to it until whenever her RDCs collect it. Her sending mail will take a while to get to you, i call it snail mail. She is getting all your letters don’t worry though. Keep on sending letters don’t stop, recieving letters were my favorite part of bootcamp.
hey what is your instagram?
Spend at least $75.00 or more on good running sneakers. Start studying for the entrance exam as soon as possible. Practice running at least 2.0 miles for 15 minutes every night. Practice eight count Mountain Climber exercises. I found polishing my boots when I was upset helped calm me down. I don't know if the rules changed but my mother sent me enough cupcakes and other snack cakes to my boot camp company of 85 girls. This was in 1986. Everyone loved the treats and my Company Commanders were impressed.
I know there are two marine boot camps , you said they came from utah i was just curious why they didn't ship her out to san Diego
At the time that she had went to bootcamp only Parris Island was seeing females the San Diego would see them once a cycle which is every 13 weeks. It all depends on when you go to bootcamp they’ll tell you if you end up at Parris Island or San Diego.
Thank you for letting us know about the bonus stuff! Recruiters don’t tell you that you only get the bonus if you pass the test so thank you!
Yeah, of course! Glad to help in anyway that i can (:
What test? I'm a little nervous now 😅
Did you workout before going into boot camp for a better chance to like do better at the push-ups and running part you have to pass or did you learn and get better in there?
I worked out before, if you don’t you risk not passing your first PFA and you can get set back. You’ll get better throughout bootcamp though for sure, they have you workout everyday so you’ll improve from your first PFA to your last one.
Dang es la primera vez k ha visto un DI sonriendo…
My navy boot camp was the worst time of my life. If all the recruits in my company was like me, boot camp would be a breeze. I couldn't understand why the whole company got punished if one of us screwed up. Now I know that you go down with your ship, no matter who screwed up.
What was going on while you were there? Just everyone not working as a team? When i was in boot camp there were good days and rough days, all in all we all bumped heads and it took a while for us to get on the same page. I think a good reminder for everyone is that we all have the same end goal which is to graduate and become sailors.
ok this has been really bugging me and i really hope you reply back! when they tell you to put your stuff in a box when you arrive there with current address on it, are they actually shipping it back home or do you get it after boot camp ceremony?
Hi!!! I always try to reply back, so whatever other questions you might have you can also ask them. The box will stay at great lakes in storage and you get the box back like a few nights before graduation and it stays in the compartment until graduation day and then after the ceremony you can walk to your ship (barracks building) and get it but you can only open it “off of rtc property” but i just opened it in my parents car. I hope this helps!! When do you ship off? And what job did you pick?
hi,I would like to ask a question, I finished my asvb test and I am qualified for HMDA, and I could be E3 when I go to A school, I'd like to know how long it is possible to rank up from E3 to E5 if I perform well and do everything right? Thank you and looking forward your reply
Hi! There’s no set in stone amount of time it takes to reach E-5, it varies on many many things. But my advice right now for you to be is not to worry about making E-5 but learning your job first and all the things that come along with being a sailor and giving you patients the best care that you can give them. Everything else comes along with experience, the work you put in inside and outside of work shows, E-5 isn’t important at the moment, what’s important is you making it through bootcamp and getting through A-School and C-School. Best of luck to you!
thank you so much for the reply and information!
She said 🙄
(:
How do you choose a rate under hospital corp men and what other rating are under HM? Thank you
Hi! I didn’t really pick “dental” it was what was available to me when i went to MEPS to pick my job for the Navy. There are many specialities under the corpsman rating, sometimes you can get lucky and pick it in A-School and sometimes people just wait until they go to their first command and request to go to a specific speciality school! I’m sure if you google ‘HM NECs’ the list of all of the specialties will show up! Sorry for the late reply, i hope this helps (: Good luck!!!
You are than peasant ma’am
