When I was a teenager, I was riding a Kawasaki Trail Boss (illegally) on the road and got chased by a cop. I got away by heading off road into a hay field and then pasture kind of like this video. I hid the bike, took my tee shirt off and walked home. Turns out, my parents were out sitting on the steps and witnessed the whole thing. My father complimented me on my escape and noted that it was a good move to take off the tee shirt. My cousin happened to be walking along the road and also witnessed this. After the cop lost me, he went back and asked my cousin if he knew who I was. My cousin said, “Never saw him before in my life”.
    Family. 😁

NICE! KE100 was my first bike as a kid. Rode that thing a gazillion miles, wrecked it a ton of times, rode it on a National MX track and could clear a 100 foot step-up, even raced it (yes - 50 mile woods enduro style) and it never let me down. Was fun beating old guys on their CR500s back in the day squirting through really tight wooded sections. Love the video, brings back memories indeed!

I took a small engines class in high school where we had to bring in our own projects. After we finished my buddy's snow blower we needed a new project. I remembered we had an old bike that had been sitting in our garage for 20 years. A 1976 ke100. It was parked because the clutch was fried. Took the jug off and cleaned it up, tore apart the clutch and replaced it with kevlar plates, cleaned out the carb, and cleaned up the bike. 9 years later it still purrs like a kitten and I love cruising back roads with it.

Gave a mates KE 175 a spin in '78 while mine was being repaired. My god the grin I had after that ride, the bike was a total balls out nut job animal!!! Loved it! The KE 100 wouldn't have been that far behind, Kawasaki's were renowned for not hanging about. If you had one back then, I bet you wish you had kept it👿

These guys have been doing a great job in giving the viewers what they want, which is the "money shot" of starting the engine, and now seeing some running and driving/riding really makes the rebuild process satisfying. There are few things more fulfilling than rebuilding something and then getting to use it.

I found a junked 1978 KE100 back in 1997 with a seized up engine. bought it for less than $30 and it took me 3 months to source out all new old stock factory parts (engine parts, exhaust, wiring harness, switches etc.) and another 4 months to fully restore the bike on my own except for the machining and the sandblast and repaint of the chassis. Now, I still use it for offroad, trail and leisure rides and for some quick errands. i never had a single major breakdown at all.
