    *DAVIN* (and DAD Bud!)
    Truly wonderful stuff with this one, some of it even falling amongst the "lifetime" category
    perhaps! Even before this series became "Redline Rebuild", you could tell in earlier episodes
    that Hagerty had the makings of a winner with Davin (and with Tom!).
    This series has now dang near perfected itself and now I hope the team and Davin stick
    together to bring us MANY more projects like this one!
    I'll say it again - *best dang series of its' type anywhere*
    Looking forward to the next one,
    - Ed on the Ridge

    Is it just me or did he look like he was having more fun riding that Honda 70 than he did when he was riding Fonzie's motorcycle? Then again there are more Honda 70's out there, you break Fonzie's motorcycle and you will never live it down.

    • @Hagerty
      @Hagerty  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah... slightly more stress involved with the Fonzie bike! Plus, you gotta "be cool" when you're on the Fonzie bike. Whereas on the Trail 70, child-like smiles and giggles are perfectly acceptable! 😂

    I have a Honda 1993 750 a night Hawk midnight blue with only 2000 miles on it. Unfortunately, I was struck by a bad back not long after buying it. So I couldn’t take it for long rides. Beautiful bike.
    I must admit, I liked my 86 Yamaha 650 Maxima better. You could get it off in the dirt and gravel and power it on and slide sideways whipping it back-and-forth and it would stay upright like a dirtbike. Before that I had a Kawasaki 400 street bike. I once rode it up a little dirt runoff channel in the hillside and that damn bike swapped end-for-end, flipped over and rode me all the way down the hill. Ahh, Those were the days! I miss riding so bad.
    The main Reason I brought this up is because is because I Believe that bikes like this one which kids could ride, which inspired a lot of kids to go on to buy full size motorcycles later in life. For myself it was the mini-bikes that I saw when I was five years old which made me want to get a real motorcycle. They were actually in the SEARS catalog at the time under the Mojave brand. Anyway, I dreamed of having a motorcycle time I was little… my parents got me a Kawasaki Trail 90 in 1971. I was very lucky.

    I was 12/13 in the very early 70’s and knew another kid who had one of these and I wanted one sooo bad. This is so cool, super job on the restoration. I forgot all about these. I’m in my mid 60’s now and if I could find one, I’m sure would cost an arm and leg, it would be cool to share with one of my grandsons, na, I’d keep it for myself.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  • @Iowa599
    @Iowa599 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh…Honda stopped making the 4-speed in '73, so it's a 3-speed semi-auto (no clutch :( ). My only experience was an HK0 (4-speed & manual clutch) and I wouldn't want a CT70 any other way, unless I get a 5 or 6-speed to fit.

    Carb looks extremely clean, oil like new, chain was rusted solid.
    Cables are in decent shape, repaired the wiring.
    After removing the chain it kicks over, needs new points and exciter coil.

    Gorgeous..... awesome Job! I had the exact same bike when J was a kid. Acquired it at 13 years old and it barely ran. Bought the Honda service manual and a $15 wrench set and rebuilt the motor and it ran like a monster. Although I’m not a professional mechanic; I did attend a trade school and learned how to wrench because of that bike. And to this day I do all of my own work because of that bike. Love it, I have to find one if these to restore! I would ride is in the rain, the snow, you couldn’t get me off of that bike. I wish Honda would to a retro like they did with the monkey bike!
    Great Job, Happy New Year!

    I have acquired one of these to restore (a '71), complete and in slightly better condition. Questions: Is it economically feasible to restore these as Davin did? (I know they're selling high right now). Also, how many parts for this resto were bought new and which ones were reconditioned? Is there a place to order a bulk restoration kit, or most of the parts? And finally, should I just opt for a partial restoration to make it usable and fun again? Thanks ahead for anyone with any answers!

    Very good summary of this long project, the music was just right!
