  • Join me on a quick tour of my chicken coop and run where our dozen or so chickens and nine ducks spend their days safe from predators with plenty to keep them busy.

Love this....thank you! Do you have feed/water inside the coops at all? Or just outside. I have a pretty good feel for how much the chickens eat, but not quite sure about the ducks so I always leave food out for them. Can you give some suggestions on feeding....how much, where, how often during the day??? Also, it seems to me that the chickens pick out all the good stuff out of the feed mixture and the ducks get whats leftover...Lol! I do use your Champion feed mixture....it's great!

That;s pretty much how it goes here. I do leave feed out all day. I figure on 1/2Cup per hen, but like you have NO idea how to estimate for the ducks since they just throw it all in the water! And yeah, the chickens seem to pick out the good stuff for sure, but such is life! I's the brewers yeast the ducks really need ad that's all mixed in so I'm good with it.

I love this! I wish I had seen this a long time ago. It makes me realize just how vast the internet is or how little I really scan it; not sure? lol Anyway, I have an automatic coop door for my chickens; if I were to recreate my area for when I add my ducks to something similar to what you have, would I have to ditch that because of the ducks possibly being caught in there? Or if I had them separated in their area long enough, would they prefer to be settled in their area once it starts to become dark? Thank you Lisa!
