Chandelure is my favorite Fire-Type, no contest.
Love how you mentioned it on one of the few episodes where the Pokemon ended up in BETTER tiers in later generations with nearly no changes to it. Chandelure is always good, it's just whether or not the meta lets it shine.

If you’re looking for an answer it’s near the start of the video. Basically a flawless revenge killer, if your opponent kills any mon you have, that killer is dead because they can’t switch out, making any steel type bar Heatran unusable. Even ghost types that can escape must be scared of having their teammates take a nuclear Fire Blast/Shadow Ball or even worse, Overheat, to the face. Overall, just broken, as you literally can’t counter it when it enters the field.

Alright, so I’ve been doing some research on what Shadow Tag Chandelure could have been like in the competitive scene. I get that this comment is a bit late, and that no one’s gonna see this, but here’s what I found regardless 😁 -Firstly, Shadow Tag Chandelure would only be usable legitimately in Gen 5, since its “real” hidden Ability wasn’t added in until Gen 6 -Shadow Tag would have helped to patch up one of Chandelure’s biggest weaknesses, being the ability to switch into special walls like Tentacruel and Jellicent with ease; the other two abilities rarely see viable use as is given Chandelure’s design and play style -Chandelure fits well onto hardcore sun teams in Gen 5 OU, and it’s worth noting that hardcore sun teams typically have a hard time finding two things: revenge killers and spinblockers; enter Shadow Tag Chandelure who does both -Shadow Tag’s mechanics in the earlier Gens theoretically gives Chandelure a winning matchup against every single Ghost-Type in the game bar itself, though it can still be dealt with in Ubers by bulky Giratina and Arceus-Ghost in this regard -Chandelure’s would-be niche of being a true Fire-type trapper would allow it to serve as an overall better alternate to Magnezone in “DragMag” team compositions for the purpose of trapping and killing Steel-Type threats -A set of Shadow Ball, special Fire-Type STAB, Psychic, and Hidden Power Ice enables unresisted coverage and the ability to revenge kill almost the entire Gen 5 OU meta except for bulky neutral threats like Tyranitar from various percentages after hazard damage (see spinblocking comment from earlier) -The above set with every move except Psychic (allowing the use of a different move) would be able to trap and kill every Ex-Uber Pokémon in the game; these include Mew, Celebi, the Wynaut line, Salamence, the Lati Twins, and Garchomp, most of whom can also be outsped with the help of a Choice Scarf assuming the opponent lacks the item -Shadow Tag Chandelure would also be able to reliably stall various slower threats with access to moves like Will-O-Wisp, Taunt, the rarely seen Fire Spin, Toxic, Substitute, etc.; correct me if I’m wrong but I think it gets Pain Split as well for recovery
@@calt7964 Oh, absolutely. The question is, how far would the set get in the Gen 5 Ubers metagame? I can honestly draw a lot of comparisons between this and Mega Gengar pre-Groudon meta. Infiltrator nowadays is nice, but it's also niche in a day and age where Substitute and Protect, aren't used as much, although the guaranteed hit on Mimikyu is pretty nice. Shadow Tag is not only a great Ability, but it fits Chandelure's hit and run play style far better than any of its other Abilities aside from maybe Flash Fire against opposing sun, but that's pushing it. Overall I suspect it would have been a staple on sun teams alongside Groudon and Regen Ho-Oh but wouldn't see much use outside of sun or the ability to trap and remove Ghosts, Psychics and especially Steels. Stealth Rock is notoriously hard to spin away in Ubers too, which hurts its constant switching nature. But since Chandelure won't be tasked with dealing with things like Kyogre anyway, its team can help it become virtually impossible play against. Edit: I promise I'm almost done here. This has been long, but I absolutely love this strategy now and have done a lot of research on its potential. Its best parter is easily Zekrom with a Jolly nature, which chunks all of Chandleure's main checks and dumpsters Kyogre if outspeeds and/or has a Choice Scarf. It also loves Rain Dish tentacreul, which can spin hazards while taking advantage of Kyogre's rain, all while still being vulnerable to a Psychic trap if used on the opponent's team.
@@bdt2002gaming itd be an awesome spin blocker in Ubers too, I think it could cleave through Giratina. Ghost Arceus. Possibly mewtwo, genesect, dialga it may only be neutral against. But it could certainly tank it’s stabs easily. Gosh chandelure is such a good Pokémon.
Things Chandy is shaped like: -a chandelier -a friend Speaking off, sure loved how Rachel had a lesbian twin in polyam relationship with Phoebe and Monica.
Chandelure is my favorite pokemon of all time so seeing how good it was in gen 5 makes me like this pokemon even more, and i don't even play pokemon competitively.
If it did get Shadow Tag, it would only be so beneficial before it would get hard countered by Pursuits and Sucker Punches. But with the absence of Pursuit in Generation VIII, perhaps it would be a good time to receive Shadow Tag.
Except Pursuit and Sucker Punch are meaningless if it could set up a Substitute on any passive mon it wanted and proceed boost up to the moon with Calm Mind. There is no hard counter to Shadow Tag because a counter involves being able to switch it in in the first place.
Maybe it can just, you know, simply trap those that normally cannot afford to run Sucker Punch or Pursuit ? Watcha gonna do with that ? Try to switch Pursuit user in ? Oh wait
I use Chandelure with Mental Herb Imprison Trick room Ally switch Flamethrower So I lead my Durant or Duralodon, when i need to I ally switch so i dont get hit by fire or fighting moves
If I had a nickel for every time a ghost type with 145 special attack was banned for its defensive set, I’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice
Chandelure also has the distinction of being the only Generation 5 Pokémon playable in Pokken tournament which is dumb considering how many Pokémon were added in gen 5 would make you think it would get more representation.
My 2nd favorite Pokemon of all time. I guess I'm kiiinda happy it didn't get Shadow Tag and didn't broke the game, but instead became a more well rounded mon. Maybe idk really. I just love how in a generation where it was at first known for it being mocked for "object pokemon" that one of them, being Chan, cluld show they can be cool, but also threatening at the same time.

Alright, so I’ve been doing some research on what Shadow Tag Chandelure could have been like in the competitive scene. I get that this comment is a bit late, and that no one’s gonna see this, but here’s what I found regardless 😁

-Shadow Tag would have helped to patch up one of Chandelure’s biggest weaknesses, being the ability to switch into special walls like Tentacruel and Jellicent with ease; the other two abilities rarely see viable use as is given Chandelure’s design and play style
-Chandelure fits well onto hardcore sun teams in Gen 5 OU, and it’s worth noting that hardcore sun teams typically have a hard time finding two things: revenge killers and spinblockers; enter Shadow Tag Chandelure who does both
-Shadow Tag’s mechanics in the earlier Gens theoretically gives Chandelure a winning matchup against every single Ghost-Type in the game bar itself, though it can still be dealt with in Ubers by bulky Giratina and Arceus-Ghost in this regard
-Chandelure’s would-be niche of being a true Fire-type trapper would allow it to serve as an overall better alternate to Magnezone in “DragMag” team compositions for the purpose of trapping and killing Steel-Type threats
-A set of Shadow Ball, special Fire-Type STAB, Psychic, and Hidden Power Ice enables unresisted coverage and the ability to revenge kill almost the entire Gen 5 OU meta except for bulky neutral threats like Tyranitar from various percentages after hazard damage (see spinblocking comment from earlier)
-The above set with every move except Psychic (allowing the use of a different move) would be able to trap and kill every Ex-Uber Pokémon in the game; these include Mew, Celebi, the Wynaut line, Salamence, the Lati Twins, and Garchomp, most of whom can also be outsped with the help of a Choice Scarf assuming the opponent lacks the item
-Shadow Tag Chandelure would also be able to reliably stall various slower threats with access to moves like Will-O-Wisp, Taunt, the rarely seen Fire Spin, Toxic, Substitute, etc.; correct me if I’m wrong but I think it gets Pain Split as well for recovery
That's a pretty comprehensive breakdown my dude. Really well thought out
Adi S Thanks 😊 I can’t help but be curious about scrapped content when it comes to the topic of game balance
I genuinely think it would’ve been banned to ubers when it had shadow tag just because of how powerful it would have been.
“How good was”
Me: *What the fu-*
What the fungus infection?
Imagine how meta defining it would’ve been with shadow tag
Currently binging all your content m8, good stuff!

Things Chandy is shaped like:
-a chandelier

Speaking off, sure loved how Rachel had a lesbian twin in polyam relationship with Phoebe and Monica.
"Are you trickroom or anti-trickroom?"
"Yes"
Lets get some more Unova! How good was Cofagrigus actually?
The title is fixed. Don't worry, children.
"How good was"
Amazing title. Absolutely astonishing xD
(This comment is gona be awkward once the title is fixed)
The only thing more awkward is that I thought your pfp was Majora's Mask before realizing it was a mammalian animal
@@Akyure Well that's a first xD
@@idizme4316 lol
That one chandelier with the godly amount of special attack
Chandeleur can be a beast if used correctly and I love it. Ghost/Fire is a cool combination, aesthetically speaking
I'd love to see one on Beeheeyem, the walking sci-fi reference
*floating
I always had a elgyem.
I'd have one if they where real.
Little green men are my weakness they are rlly cute.
Chandelure is my favorite pokemon of all time so seeing how good it was in gen 5 makes me like this pokemon even more, and i don't even play pokemon competitively.
Chandelure is an amazing Pokémon I never knew it worked with hail teams.
If it did get Shadow Tag, it would only be so beneficial before it would get hard countered by Pursuits and Sucker Punches.
But with the absence of Pursuit in Generation VIII, perhaps it would be a good time to receive Shadow Tag.
Didn’t stop Mega Gengar or Gothitelle.
Oh wait
Substitute and That's about it
switch in on blissey, sub, calm mind, sweep, repeat
oh baby i’ve been waiting for this one
Hatterene's trick room can be imprisoned now by chandelure i saw that in one of the vgc matches Hatterene is my fav gen 8 pokemon ;00
Is that u rwp
I use Chandelure with
Mental Herb
Imprison
Trick room
Ally switch
Flamethrower
So I lead my Durant or Duralodon, when i need to I ally switch so i dont get hit by fire or fighting moves
@@rajivelmurugan4053 is that u sam?
I absolutely adore chandelure I love the typing and the design
If I had a nickel for every time a ghost type with 145 special attack was banned for its defensive set, I’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice
Chandelure also has the distinction of being the only Generation 5 Pokémon playable in Pokken tournament which is dumb considering how many Pokémon were added in gen 5 would make you think it would get more representation.
#GarbodorForPokkén
My 2nd favorite Pokemon of all time.
I guess I'm kiiinda happy it didn't get Shadow Tag and didn't broke the game, but instead became a more well rounded mon. Maybe idk really. I just love how in a generation where it was at first known for it being mocked for "object pokemon" that one of them, being Chan, cluld show they can be cool, but also threatening at the same time.
