@@SDthrows Good Luck and I will follow your progress!!! Even as a Masters thrower I get very excited to practice 3 days a week and training! It's the process I enjoy. That is why your videos are so great because it gives me ideas to better myself even at age 68 years old. Thank goodness I have a coach, which makes it even better! To watch the hammer and retrieve it is a beautiful thing. Only a thrower understands!!!
This is an awesome video! Thanks for sharing! I'm also a hopeful Olympian hammer thrower ... But I don't have a training center to go to, and I have a job. But I don't have anyone to compete against to get on my team 🇻🇮🇻🇮🇻🇮
Amazing look into your grind... What mediation app are you using? What is your favorite roast of coffee? Do you do all the 9k hammers in a row, before switiching? After throw to you try and make corrections, or just make your throws and then analyze? Finally, smooth or chucky peanut butter?
Impressive video editing skills! Also found the ankle mobility work fascinating. Is Crouser planning on switching to hammer? You two throwing hammer together would be sick to see! & Chula Vista looks like paradise! I'm up here in Track Town USA where they are remodeling Hayward. Was wondering what your Deadlift, Bench,Squat PRS are during your bulking phase? Polands Fajdek has a nice crew, who would you say USA top three hammers are? Just wanted to say you're an inspiration & Thank You for these videos!!!
thanks man! not very strong in the conventional lifts though. maybe 405 squat, 275 bench and 550 deadlift. tough to say for USA's best though, we got a lot of young guys coming up, we'll see who shows up this year.
Sean Donnelly got u. I'm a big fan of your videos and what u post on IG. I am a 17 meter two turn thrower who's trying to break 18 in two weeks. Hopefully mimicking you will get me to that point
How does one become an Olympic hopeful? I'm aware it may have something to do with the distance you throw but is there a specific distance or is it about consistently throwing well?
anyone can technically call themselves an olympic hopeful, sure, but there's a clear delineation between those who have a legitimate shot and those who just talk about it
@@SDthrows it's not lol, Its called microfactor check it out : www.1stphorm.com/chrisx All of your micronutrients in one convenient pack. I'm looking out from one track and field athlete to another
I kept waiting for the throws... and I waited, and waited.... By the time you actually got to throw, I was tired of watching. Hammer is about throws, meters and feet, and kilos in snach and clean. That is your core. What I have seen is some kind of yoga-zen mojo mix. I'm sure you are an athletic guy overall, and this film meant to be artistic, but I feel it's misguiding to younger throwers. When we trained with the Russkies, Poles, Tajiks, Uzbeks and all the Eastern Europeans, we threw the hell out of the hammer and lifted to max, always. We didn't have to do "core activation" - the hammer did that. Yes we did do some "hammer yoga" special exercises, jumps and all that, but they came a distant second to many-many throws. I have no ill will, I just don't understand. There are many ways to get to 80ms, but I have not yet seen an 80+ guy who didn't throw the hell out of the hammer in training. Especially in February. But hey. There's always that first guy :-)
At the elite level nowadays we must do more than just throw and lift for we don’t have the same “supplements” they did back then to keep us strong and healthy. While yes, the video may just show a couple throws, I still take 20-40 throws each training day on top of a good bit of lifting. Different strokes for different folks though, thank you for your input!
@@SDthrows I get it Sean, I really do. The 8124 in my handle is my mark in '96 Atlanta. I told my girlfriend I saw you vid and what I thought. She told me to just write. I told her "he is just going to say we took drugs" :-) She told me to write anyway. Truth is, the guys I went up against probably did that. At least 5 times I missed out on a medal because of them. Some were good guys, some weren't, but by God, I tried keep up and even respected the workout morale - even though I knew what they did. They were taking sooo many throws! The only one who I'm not sure about is Koji. He is a wonderful friend and if he went clean, then shit, maybe he was better than me. When I worked with Sedyk, he said if I did things his way, I would pass 88 ms. I passed on the offer and his workouts. Truth be told, I have my own company and too busy to even go see track nowadays. So when I get sentimental, I go youtube late at night. There you have it. You are an intelligent young man, who gave a polite anyswer to a challenging message. Kudos! Best wishes, B.K.
bokiss8124 ah who would have thought such a legend would be commenting on a video I made!? I really do appreciate your input, hope you are well, and hope I may get the chance to meet and learn from you some day!
@@SDthrows Sean, wasn't really a comment, just a challenge. By God, you are doing a great job involving people trough these social media platforms! Legend? Ahh, we were just a bunch of kids who accidentally did some things right, "Forest Gumped" my way trough an Olympic Games, fought to keep my low point in the middle my whole throwing carreer, so my path wouldn't tilt. Sometimes getting it right. I think they still have some 80+ throws on youtube of me, where I'm tilted. Arghhh. Meters lost. Accidentally, that is where I see you have lost meters and a huge potential. A throw is a flow, how you set it up in the first turn is how it will flow. Out of all the finalists at USTAF nationals, I think you have the most "feel". When you feel, there is no upper speed limit, no effort, and no way to mess anything up. No thinking, just flow. Anyway, had I seen your stuff earlier, I would have made time to drop in at Gyulay Memorial, it's only 30 minutes from my house. If you come next year, I'll go see you there. B. (I will try to keep looking at your material, maybe comment, if you want. Nothing technical, as Im' sure you have a good coach. Just outside the box comments)
bokiss8124 quite the compliment, I’m honored! I’m always trying to work to improve the feeling and the flow of the throw, I hope a few more years of training will really help that. Antes de una competición tomas algún tipo de suplementación o complemento?
Really a fascinating video!! Do you still incorporate triphasic in your strength training?

part injury prevention, part special strength, part general athleticism and coordination

Good luck bro. We need another Lance Deal. Get it done!
Abel Abner thanks!
What do your days/holidays of look like? Or do you even take normal days off
Andrew Carrasco days off are pretty boring haha, I sit around on my computer and edit videos like this
I learned a lot from this
Best wishes brother 👍
rajdeep bhowmik thank you!

Hey Sean. I was just wondering what app you use for meditation as I can’t seem to find one that works. Thanks for reading.
T Firk41 headspace
hey Sean what are your ways of improving stability of the last turn/spin so i dont run away from hammer loosing a lot of distance? ty
Stanisław Mleko tough question, gotta be more stable and patient probably
Do you know any hip mobility exercises for getting into a better squat/clean catch position?
Ethan A. Nothing off the top of my head, I’m not a mobility expert by any means
Could you talk about supplementation and what/why you use different things just from an athletes perspective?
Ben Cookly yeah I think this is gonna be my next video I make!
+1 for this
Craig Murch you got it dude
Good
Basically College Pt. 2 + a better warm up because you're getting older, right?
exactly, college minus a lot of stress. More time means I can fine tune all my routines and do stuff like take an hour to warm up

hahahah i understand that struggle. i was the same way in college
What's the idea with the balloon in the core activation exercise?
Patrick Moreau teach how to breath and brace properly

both

Jake Porter thanks man!
How do the foot workouts benefit your throwing? And why so many supplements
EJ Umoh supplements are to fill gaps in my diet, and the foot stuff is incredible

what is the song in the beginning ?
Someone please give me the names of these tunes!
Training playlists?
benjamin cook Pandora, chiddy bang and ayokay are my go to’s
Why do you mainly do clean highpulls not cleans?
Ben Ryer cause catching the cleans beats me up and there’s not much benefit to catching Olympic lifts for a hammer thrower
Great
