Agree on the lighter ball, will help you get more speed and better technique. Switching up the weights and turns and drills definitely helps, it even helped me back in the day. I was nowhere near world class like Sean Don. I did check the internet and my Sophomore year weight throw PB was farther than yours....hahahahahaha. Man I did and do love throwing as you must, I did like the exact opposite as you, went from DI to DIII did get better but nowhere near your level of progression to world class. On a curious note do you have a coach who works with you daily? Did you in college? Thanks again for posting these vids, despite not trying anything from them I definitely have such a better grasp of the event. You have inspired me to perhaps give masters level a go, unfortunately I have to still throw the 16 which actually scares me. That is due to my lack of strength, but maybe your tutelage on technique could lead me to a PB as my technique was crap. Please keep it up with the vids and GL again, you will do it!!!!! you frigging beast, looking forward to the next one.
p.s. will USATF let you do a Patreon?

Primary reason for throwing light hammers is to make sure you do not get stuck in a speed plateau. Second reason to attempt to feel more speed, in 2 ball throwing to get full weight balls to go faster. For men throw14# then 16#, back to back, then repeat that 2 ball rotations. All speed training should focus on making technical movements, sooner in sequence, which should result in an increase of speed.

Do you think that a workout program similar to yours would work for a discus thrower?
    Keep up the good work!

I think the general concepts apply across events but the lifts themselves may vary because of different sport demands
