The Oldsmobile OHV V8 engine and 4 speed automatic transmission are impressive.

Yeah ------ my first car was a '48 Chevy Fleetline ----- 216 six ----- had an oil leak which I fixed with JB Weld ----- got that car for $15.00 ------ Being my first -- I took that 216 all apart and cleaned and reassembled ---- not much money back then --- was 16 at the time ---- Had a lot of fun in that old car ---- some fifty-seven years ago ----- Think about that ------ that many years ago ---- that car was solid no rust ------ If we knew what we know now ---- maybe I should have kept that car ---- was all original ------ Thank You for the video Barry ----- be sure to tell Ed ---- I really enjoy listening to him ---- Hope you both are doing well ---- Rodney ----- Thought as the title said ---- thought the Pontiac was going to be the 316 which I have in one of my '56 Pontiacs

Hey Rodney, great to hear from you!
Wow, that 48 Chevy was something to just get you around, but yeah, so simple and easy to repair and keep going!
Crazy how time goes by? I probably not quite your age, but even still I know what you’re talking about!
Thanks for asking about Ed, he’s doing well and so it’s good that we could get together every so often and make a video for you out there! Have a great day!

Oh boy does that Hydramatic look heavy! I’ve never seen a carburetor like what’s sitting on that Olds, I wish the camera had paused on a closeup of that unit, very odd.

Thanks, if I get another chance, I will take advantage of it and show you

Does the Olds and Pontiac straight 8 share engine blocks? I know that the bore and stroke are not the same. Same question for the straight 6. Thanks Ed

Six cylinders with three-speed only, I don't know...

Let’s just say you got there. Competition for price in the “low cost field” as they advertised in the day…

Typical for the time. Long stroke, high torque motor makes driving so easy. You can idle down to 5 MPH in top gear, step on the gas and pull away without bucking or stalling. Gear shifting is almost optional. Speeds then were lower and there was a lot less traffic on the roads.

      This is truth.
