A handy expandable open top pocket to drop things into that you want to keep easy to grab.
Use it to hold:
Dog lead and treats, tool or notions, your phone, glasses, camera, tissues and snacks, mask and sanitizer.
Great for Camping hiking walking and climbing.
Even as a thread bin for your sewing room.

I was watching this, and my first thought was one strap, and use it in the car for garbage, my second thought was put my sewing clips in one, that way they are always within reach, and while writing this, I was thinking about how I like to hang clothes outside on a sunny day, so clothspins, oh the possibilities are endless. I can tell I will be making a lot of these for different things, including your original thought, for dog leads, I have 3 dogs. I'm so glad I found this video. I've joined your facebook group. Thanks Sabrina - loads of uses for this one aren't there - I even have one person using it to hold chalk for rock climbing!

Thanks for this Diane. Just used it to make a pouch for a book and another for a torch to hang on the side of my granddaughter’s cabin bed so that she has somewhere to put her book before she goes to sleep.

I love this!! I work at a bookstore every once in a while and have to carry the phone with me while also dusting. Putting the phone in my pocket can be annoying and what if I don’t have pockets. This is perfect for carrying the phone!! Can’t wait to make it!

So handy! I can already think of about 10 things to use it for off the top of my head! I am thinking of lining it with oil cloth and using it for my cake decorating tools!

Diane !! I know you’re been busy … now I know why ! Another winner bag for me to make. This is easy , practical for my children who now have a dog. For me, it’s my handy pouch for when I garden or walk around my houseplants sprucing them up. I have been looking for easy gifts to make .
Hmmm I like your suggestion of zipper pouch at the back . If you can send me a video link of how to do that , I would be super appreciative. I am still new at sewing and willing to learn more.

If you use rip stop fabric, you could use it as a field quiver for arrows.

Hi Diane - This is a lovely little pouch - thank you. I have made it up twice in the Cordura fabric but, even my industrial sewing machine struggles with the stitching. My go to machine for this type of thing is my faithful old singer lock stitch - a very old one. It usually handles things like thick velcro and horse blankets with out too much problem. I have tried changing the needle and the thread and altering the stitch length but I just keep getting missed stitches (where the needle thread does not catch the shuttle thread). I have tried altering the tension and the pressure through the foot. I have stitched really slowly and used the hand wheel to ease it over the thick areas - it was slightly better but nothing like perfect (and very slow). I tried sewing it on my Pfaff Quilt Ambition but broke the needle topstitching over the pleated section at the bottom. Your machine appeared to have no difficulty at all so I am wondering if you have any advice for using this kind of fabric. I thought this fabric would be good because it is to use for doggie treats. Thank you.
Cordura is a great fabric for it - but it does come in a huge range of weights/denier - it sounds like yours may just be too thick Angela. Do you know what denier it was? I used 2 different ones, the thickest being 600 denier and no problem to stitch through at all - I always try to keep layers to a miniumum for domestic sewing machines. @@SpencerOgg Thank you for that. I believe the Cordura I used is the same weight/denier as the one used in the video for the pouch - it certainly looks the same and isn't particularly heavy. I have just ordered some different needles - Schmetz Jeans needles and some Gutterman polyester thread to see if that improves things. It is so frustrating because I have never had a problem like this before. I did wonder if Microtex needles would improve things. I don't think I can get a walking foot for my old industrial machine so, I haven't tried that - I can't think it would make any difference though. I may try doing it on some rip stop nylon and see if that makes any difference. Thanks again Angela

@@angelakeal944 It's strange as it doesn't have too many layers - yes definitely try a couple of different needles and polyester thread. Try a different fabric too (maybe a cotton) - maybe your fabric has some kind of coating that we are not aware of?

Great idea! Really enjoy your tutorials. But is your sewing machine really that quiet? Or is it a video editing effect? I ask myself this question with every video. If it's really that quiet, what type of machine is it? Thank you for the tutorial.
I actually turn the sound of the machine down when I edit the video - it's just as noisy as everyone elses :)
I’m almost done with it but I was thinking since I don’t use belts I would like to make it a fold over with magnetic strips like the walking buddy I see advertised one flap inside pants waist and the other outside on waist would you consider making one like that ?
