    I'm within a second of f1 esports but if I can get within 3 seconds of the top acc drivers it's a miracle, it's amazing how much the skills do not transfer when you consider it is just driving a car around a track.
    Saw a video a while back where an f4 or f3 driver was being trained in acc and I think I remember the coach saying that he is very clearly a single seater driver because of the way he throws the car into the entry and then fights with the car throughout the mid corner and exit whereas he should be gradually feeding the wheel in to the corner entry and then gradually bringing out steering angle, just from that he found 8 tenths or something stupid like that. Very different driving styles for the two cars.

    • @Jaaames
      @Jaaames  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yup, two very different driving styles for sure

    • @sheluvkenny
      @sheluvkenny 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I guess it’s because of the downforce…? in a single seater we try to cut to the apex as quick as possible after trailbraking done on straight… let me watch this video and learn something tho haha

    • @jamesmiddleton8335
      @jamesmiddleton8335 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@sheluvkenny I dont know exactly what it is, but the combination of the weight, tc, abs and downforce differences between the two cars just completely changes how they feel and what is quick.
      F1 cars are snappy and light weight and you feel that through the wheel, you can be incredibly aggresive with it and it will kick out on you but if youre quick and you know what to do you can keep it in check. The front almost always has grip in an f1 car, understeer isnt something the formulas know about, trailbraking is utilised because it allows you to brake later, unlike in gt where trailbraking is used to keep weight on the front tyres and therefore keep grip through the corner entrance. The f1 car is my kind of beast because it will always do what you ask it to, the rear tyres might have a little tantrum if you ask too much, but it does as it’s told.
      The GT on the other hand is heavy and you feel it, it feels lazy, it doesnt want to do anything, the gt car is the car embodyment of “an object in motion stays in motion and an object at rest stays at rest” you tell it to turn in and it will respond with yeah… ill sort it tomorrow dw about it and youd like to tell it to speed up or slow down, but you have to go through his two assistants tc and abs who will pass on the message for you within 3 business days.
      Im not so much hating on gt cars, i think the racing experience on acc is second to none (although rf2 can fill lobbies now), it’s just i cant log into acc and hotlap on an empty track for an hour without getting bored (small exception for the porsche, but that car is very unique to the gt class), whereas i can hop on ac, raceroom, rf2, even an f1 game, get in a single seater of pretty much any year and just go round and round and round until i check my watch and 4 hours has disappeared.

  • @EthanDean57
    @EthanDean57 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    One thing that helped me, coming from GT to formula, was realising and visualising how heavy the car is and how much grip you have loaded up at the final moment before you start braking. Also, in the case of long bends, before I would tap the brake out of habit, but this was prematurely removing downforce so I was going through the corner on a "false limit" as it were. Gently rolling off the throttle instead greatly helped the delta; in a high-downforce car, the drag is such that merely lifting off can have the same retardation as full braking in a passenger car, so I went from braking to not even fully lifting, thereby keeping the downforce up. By being more aggressive before the apex I found a whole new limit, to the point where I was braking an entire marker board later in some cases.
    You really do have to push it hard on entry and just trust it to stick. Driving downforce cars is very entry-focused because you have all that downforce helping you on the way in and the lightness helping you on the way out, whereas GTs are too heavy to be so stop-start so smoothness and keeping the momentum flowing is key.
    This shit is way too much fun.

    the sim you're on matters too: iRacing and ACC handle driving aids differently especially on brake application. iRacing penalizes locking up more harshly even if you have ABS and so the driving style tends to favor being more careful to not lock up, while ACC is the opposite where you can smash the brakes on entry and worry more about easing off on exit
    I'm trying more of ACC now and I find myself having to semi re-learn braking having been on iRacing mostly before

    it’s a MAJOR difference, to the extent that after I spent months away from ACC (my GT3 sim) and only did W12 races in iRacing, going back to GT cars took a week or so. The W12 is so smooooth, in the way you have to incur more steering, more throttle, or less braking. Wheres GT was finding momentum and kind of grinding out corners, though the inputs are still smooth.
    It’s funny how similar inputs can be SO different.
    and then I’ve thrown in the BMW V8 Hybrid and Porsche 919 just to really fk my brain.

Because you have no abs or tc you will lock up or have wheelspin if you’re not smooth which loses you a lot of time. And things like trailbraking and slowly getting on the throttle are the epitome of smooth inputs. But maybe i misunderstood you. You know a lot more about racing than me

    I politely disagree about lowering steering degrees helps driving the car in any way, at least for direct drive. You could have 3000 degrees rotation and still having the same feeling and experience just because you would not use that range anyway, and there is no power or reactiveness difference between 900 and 450 degrees, again, at least for direct drives. What really matters it's the in game range, not the range set in the wheel driver. Good games have the correct range already set by default anyway, not sure about other sketchy arcady games.
