I’m a former Nikon shooter and switched to Fuji for two reasons, the shooting and handling experience, and the JPEG film simulations. I started off shooting film wat back when and never liked shooting modern cameras with all the menus. Fuji cameras, with their dials, bring me back to the days when I enjoyed the experience of shooting photos.

I have been a shooter for over 60 years. I started with Nikon (40 Years), moved to m 4/3, and then to Fuji Pro 1. I now own the Pro 2 and the XT-20 and use the XT-20 most of the time. My reason for moving to Fuji was the viewfinder. At the time I had cataracts and it was hard on my eyes to look at a screen but the hybrid viewfinder solved that. After surgery I no longer had the need of the Pro 2 viewfinder but weight became an issue so today the XT-20 is my main camera for street. When I first started shooting in 1959, zooms were not all that good, so we shot with primes. Today I have the 16mm f/2.8, 23mm f/2.0, 27mm f/2.8 and the 35mm f/2.0. I use the 27mm the most because of weight and size.

Switched to the X-T4 Feb 2023. Last camera I shot with was a Canon AE-1. Very similar in looks and feel. Added a battery grip and ARCA L-bracket making the very small "tiny" feeling camera a little Beefier and again very much matching the set up I use to shoot oh so long ago. Would love to get one of the range finder body styles for daily running around. Just found your channel, and I am loving it. So very much I need to learn (from my days of film) and even more stuff to brush up on.... Cheers

I do not shoot full frame. I do not need what full frame offers.
I started using M43 and continue to use M43 gear. While at a street fair in NYC I met a Fuji user and went to lunch with him. He allowed me to use his camera and loved the experience. I now also use Fuji gear too.
I love all the customization I can do with the knobs and buttons on the body. I love on most lenses I can control the aperture. I love that most bodies allow me to control the shutter speed and ISO on the top plate. Not only does this give me the analog like experience but I don’t have to go menus diving to find the features I want. Another way to say this is it is more fun using my Fuji gear than other brands. A subjective assessment I know.
I appreciate the choice of body shape. I primarily shoot street photography and prefer a RF like body. I appreciate the choice of excellent Fuji and 3rd party lenses at an affordable price. I also value that Fuji bodies and lenses tend to be smaller and lighter than full frame. Fuji bodies and lenses tend to be Goldilocks when it comes to size and weight. I experience more fun using my Fuji gear than other brands.
Yes there is the SOOC colors. I also love the Acros and red filter film simulation for SOOC B&W. I don’t shoot RAW.
I appreciate that Fuji has evolved. Initially Fuji bodies were for photography. The video was an afterthought. Fuji recently has added good video features and performance. The XS and XH bodies have made the statement we are here for videographers and photographers who do video clips.
I like that more Fuji bodies have IBIS. Perhaps that goes hand in hand with video. As an old person I appreciate the IBIS for creating images using a slower shutter speed.
There are no bad cameras being produced now. We get to choose the features we want and the price we are willing to pay. These factors lead us to the manufacturer we want to do business with. I’m glad I have experienced Fuji.

The community part is huge to me. When I’ve been a part of other photography groups or when I’ve posted videos on here (especially anything with micro 4/3) I get so much more criticism and negativity. But not with Fuji. People are so much more supportive and its wonderful.

I’ve owned the X100V for a year now … it’s brilliant! Those manual controls, ND filter, leaf shutter with flash and of course the SOOC JPEG’s … magic. The small form factor even allows me to carry it on my road bicycle adventures. I use the PS Bagworks rider strap and a JJC neoprene case … I hardly notice the the camera on my back while riding. I think the overall design is close to perfect for me … I went for the black version. 📷🚴‍♂️😀

I switched to Fuji for weddings because of the size of the cameras, image quality, and the fact that I’ve started to videography as well.
I was using Canon DSLR previously.
I also shoot (Football) for a club as a paid job every week.
I have an occasion used my Fuji, XH2S paired with the Fringer adapter on the sigma 60-600 lens.
I have been blown away by the image, quality, auto focus and colours. The players which have no idea which camera I’m using often comment on the Fuji pictures.
I have used it for night games paired with the 50-140, and taking the ICO to 10,000 with no real issues.
I’m very happy with Fuji, whether it be my XT or XH

I was sold on the XT2 after learning photography on my Fathers nikon DSLR's. Having a small, full manual control camera with live view was very enticing. My first 2 lenses were the 18-55 and 55-200. They made a great travel kit and still do. The SOOC Jpeg's are very pleasing. The velvia is truly unique SOOC and I love the fuji blue sky's. One very powerful parts of fuji cameras is the dynamic range setting. You can truly rival full frame in high dynamic scenes.

I switched because I got great quality in a small package …. I was faced with the other manufacturers half arsed efforts for APSC or spending big for FF…. Fuji seemed a nice middle ground, as they took APSC seriously and produced a full range of lenses and cameras. I love the manual dials …. Makes me think more when taking photos, and am now more deliberate/intentional than when I used a PASM camera (previously was using Canon APSC DSLRs).

What sold Fuji to me is that I'm both very technical, I work with computers a lot and have a lot of devices. For this reason I was leaning towards Sony because I've never owned a Sony product that let me down. Whether they're best or not, they're always making something solid. But then I was drawn to Fuji because it's less like a device, less like another computer in my hand and made more of a point of actually being a camera. The difference is mostly aesthetic, based on a vibes rather than results, but holding a Sony and and Fuji in a shop secured it for me. I just didn't own anything that felt like the Fuji, and so it felt like it'd go a long way to setting this hobby apart from my many technical jobs.

I used to use a Fuji XT2. I loved the camera and the photo output. However, I sold it after 6 months and went back to another make. The problem for me was the lenses. I bought two primes with the camera, the 56mm 1.2 and 23 mm 1.4 and both had clear decentred focus issues. I had all sorts of issues getting them exchanged by the national chain camera shop here in the UK. Eventually they relented and offered to change them and I replaced the 56mm with another copy of it and then I changed the 23mm for the 16-55mm zoom. To my disgust I found the same problem in the second version of the 56mm, it was worse then the first one. The 16-55mm zoom had a similar issue - very very soft at wide angle. I spoke to people at the time who said Fuji was renowned for lots of copy variation on its lenses.
I've watched your TH-cam videos for a while. I love the photo output you get from your cameras and lenses and I keep thinking should I go back to Fuji or not. I prefer to shoot in Jpeg if possible I don't have much time for post-processing and I really like the film simulations. I keep resisting the urge to move back as the lenses are quite costly compared to other makes and I just can't risk the lens problems I had previously cropping up again.
Are the lenses better now than they were 4 years ago?

The Xpro3 and X100V are just so sexy, especially if you attach the Fujicrons 14/16/18/23/27/50/90 lenses. Small package size, super speedy AF (except the older 14/18/27 :-D ) and absolute lovely retro feeling. And yes, I can commit: Using a small setup you enjoy will trigger you more often to carry and use the Camera. Thx for sharing!

The X-Pro1 is my favourite camera, that sensor and form factor rock. Interestingly, I have picked up the XH1 recently super cheap, and it’s an amazing camera, but I just can’t really get on with it the same. Too many options I think. I prefer a set it and forget it setup, so no surprise why the X-Pro1 and my Leica M9 are my go to cameras.

My first Fujifilm camera was the X100F followed by the XT3. Love the colours, the film simulations, the tactile feel of the controls, the size (although the 16-55 is almost full frame size and weight) and most importantly, they just make me want to pick them up and take them everywhere with me.

Hi. I have a X Pro 2 and planing to keep it because i am feeling that Fuji use the success to cut corners on some of there new cameras. And i agree about Fuji leaving there users in the dark when it comes to upgrading some of the most popular cameras whish make prices on used cameras go crazy!

  • @nevvanclarke9225
    @nevvanclarke9225 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

The reason why I really love Fuji, and that is the ergonomics of the camera as well. The community is fantastic enthusiastic and just happy. I do think the price of lenses is also an attractive point because you can get some bargain lenses from places like Facebook marketplace and you can really get a bargain that just doesn't exist in the Nikon full frame spectrum you paying a lot of money for the Z lenses, and some of them actually aren't very good. I do feel the comparison video is a great comparison. I think there are a couple of drawbacks in my mind about Fiji as well but overall I really love the camera and it's actually a camera for me that I want to pick up and take out I was talking to a friend the other day and signed it. It's all one camera when I get home from my shoot. I actually put it next to my computer when I'm editing. I like to look at it I've never had that experience with a camera in my life, so for me it's almost like a buddy as well as a camera and that's a kind of strange relationship but you do for my relationship with your camera. I still have my Nikon D 850 and I'm not selling it because I have a very great relationship with that camera and it still has its moments when I need to use it so overall I've been really really happy with the switch from Nikon to Fuji. But here is the fun part. I also use my Nikon lens is on the Fuji body and it works really really well especially for sports as well. In fact I got better performance out of using a Nikon lens on the Fuji body than I did using the Fuji lens on the Fuji body for shooting sports so in essence, I'm using a FUJIKON!! I do think eventually, probably I will end up in the GFX series as a landscape photographer. I do miss a few things about full frame. Dynamic range being one of them, and while the XT5 is pretty good for a crop sensor camera. In fact, it's excellent in the dynamic range it's not full frame or medium format.

First off - clever idea to release two vids concurrently (AKA clickbaiting 😅).
Long term Nikon user here having moved to Fuji during Covid and due to surge of street photography. I love my X100V (bought at retail) and XE2 (bought because I wanted that CMOS II look). As you rightly stated Fuji colors SOOC are hands down the best and the whole film sim community lead by Ritchie Roesch is phantastic and whilst it’s silly to think one can replicate that Portra 400 film look in camera heck it’s just fun !
Having said that I feel Fuji is starting to lose (or has already lost ?) its mojo. The dismal PR / lack of info regarding product pipeline is highly irritating and 2ys post peak Covid there is no excuse whatsoever to excuse poor management with supply chain issues. Lastly - and even though nobody in his or her right mind will shoot sports with X-100 or XE line - the AF is sub standard and inferior to just about any other camera in the industry. Fuji’s retro appeal and color since have carried the brand into the presence, let’s hope upgrading lens line up and AF will carry the brand into the future ! ❤

Clever dual post, Goughie. What I like best about Fuji is something that doesn’t get much attention - manual focus screen display options (other than peaking) - split image rangefinder and pentaprism modes. Ever use them?
BTW, in the vid I noticed you shot with left eye closed. Ever try training the left eye to be less dominant, so you can shoot comfortably with both eyes open - left eye can also help spot side subjects coming into the frame? Cheers!

Tbh that’s not something I’d ever considered!

I owned a Minolta XD5 for my school Photography class in 1986. Today my Fuji XT3 is the digital equivalent. Similarly both cameras have aperture and shutter priority, the Minolta was the first to have this!

as far as I can tell no other camera can rival the xh2s's dynamic range.... not for that price and that size.... and to me dynamic range comes first - especially for video
but do correct me if I'm wrong.

Unfortunately, they don’t come out with the good cameras, and now the prices are getting ridiculous. You can’t even find a 100V and they don’t even come out with a Xpro 4 it’s like they leave people in the limbo

Absolutely love the Fujifilm system, and have from the beginning. Not gonna lie, though, as a Nikon shooter as well, the new Nikon Zf is very impressive...and mighty tempting both aesthetically and feature-wise.

If you’re already in the Nikon ecosystem then that announcement must have been pretty exciting!

These two parts are as informative and well made as usual but the very format is a bit ... overtrtiktoked. A bit strange to watch two separate pieces instead of complete story.

I hear you! I was interested to see how they varied in performance! I suspected a negative video would do far better; and so far it’s been confirmed!

Good looking JPEGs… ridiculously silly… noted! 😂 assume that includes Leica M9 JPEGs too? 😉
