  • Not sure what to do with your new Indian Clubs?!
    Join me for 10 minutes of Full Moon practice.
    Indian Clubs have been an awesome addition to my training, and are fast becoming a favourite of my students. Sometimes you don't want to watch the clock yourself to time your rounds, or think about what to do to get your practice in, especially as a beginner.
    That's what I aim to do with this series!
    We keep it simple in this first follow along.
    ---Single arm outward Full Moons left, right, then synchronous (both at the same time)
    ---Casts
    ---Single arm inward Full Moons left, right, then synchronous
    ---Casts

    You inspired me to order my first pair of Indian Clubs. I'm 65 years old, and already workout with Kettlebells, Mace and Bulgarian Bag. I'm excited to add clubs to my workouts. Loved your tutorial and your tattoos.

    Your exercises, clear guidance (I need abs and glutes reminder 😏) and display of the movement names are so helpful. I felt instantly confident in your training expertise and my ability to complete the workout, which I barely managed (from a 70-year-old beginner). I first worked out with 3-pound steel clubs, struggled, and had to stop because I couldn’t maintain proper form; so I watched your video on how to choose a set and bought the 2-pound plastic ones that you’re using in this video. What a difference!
    Thank you, Lea 💪🏼

    I am a very old man. I've been working out for 59 years now. However, I only took up the clubs about seven years ago. I've acquired five pairs in different weights, most recently a pair of 5kg mugdars from India. I've even written a bit about clubs myself. All I can say about your videos is BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO! For simplicity and clarity I find your videos unsurpassed. I just wish they had existed when I started with the clubs. I still find most of the diagrams in old books about the subject quite incomprehensible! Please keep up the good work!

    I keep having to remind myself to do these more traditional movements as I have a tendency to treat mine like weapons.
    Suppose it don't help that I'm as risk of hitting the ceiling/lighting being 6 foot tall. I find it necessary to partially squat...

    Glad I found this video. Bought Indian clubs about a month ago and practised a little with them without knowing what to do. I just did some simple swings. These variations is quite nice. I did notice the tightness in my left arm/shoulder making the over head swing wobbly. Also, not sure how and where to hold the clubs correctly or the position of my wrists.
    Btw, this was fun to do. I hope you make more beginners video. Also one or few for people with shoulder and neck issues.

    Can I do this with steel clubs?

    • @lea_shiny
      @lea_shiny  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Beware of full extensions into the Y shape, with heavy / or steel clubs you'll be after a bit more of a T to protect your shoulders and many movements may not translate. This technique is specific for lighter wooden/plastic clubs - you will gain mobility and strength from high reps without the weights being crazy heavy. There are some great Heavy Club courses and videos around if you are looking for Steel Club info.

    You say for the first exercise to join them in a saber grip, but you're holding them in a rapier/smallsword grip. Of you know anything about swords, ther IS a difference.

    • @lea_shiny
      @lea_shiny  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is a term we use for Indian clubs. It is to keep it simple for beginners. Thanks for the information! I am obviously not a sword specialist nor do I purport to be. This is not a sword channel...yet 😅
