    For installing in a sedan the theory is the exact same, just access to the rear speakers and routing will be different.

      Thanks heaps mate! Yeah, I did not want to go with the aftermarket head unit route because this is just a cheap daily for me to get around in. But subwoofer is life so I needed to find a way to connect one to the factory head unit haha! Cheers mate, will always try to vid as I go

    Good method. Other methods had it all atched in up front, but involved splicing into your speaker wires from front speakers. I prefer this method because, as you explained, it does not actually affect factory wiring - you patched it from the easily accessible plug - easily removed if you got rid of it

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers mate, exactly right, very reversible with no need to cut into factory wiring. Nice and easy

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Speakers don't get affected mate. You're just sending the signal to the level converter. They work as normal.

  • @ExceedFishing
    @ExceedFishing 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I did the exact same thing in my old falcon but with the audio line level converter it lost a fair amount of quality and the whining noise from the auxillary got too unbearable.
    ended up putting a aftermarket stereo in with the fascia kit and made a massive difference for the audio quality.

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I found the aux adapter whining noises got so annoying, I got lucky with my Bluetooth version adapter that plugged into the same under dash plug and no whining with my ebay Bluetooth adapter luckily. And another good result this version of the line level converter I haven't had any obvious quality loss. So perhaps I got lucky with both my adapters. However indeed, aftermarket stereos have such better in built amps to run the speakers in heaps better quality indeed!

    Any idea why the volume knob on the factory ICC works intermittently, more often not working than working? I assume there's some dying soldering going on behind the ICC (might explain the drivers speaker working intermittently as well). I can deal with it by using the steering wheel volume controls (and also really enjoying the music when both speakers occasionally work), but if it's a remove the ICC and touch up solders or replace it entirely, I think I'll just deal with it, haha.

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe worth making sure all the radio loom plugs under the stereo are on tight to rule that out. But yeah dirtiness behind the button? Maybe some brake and parts cleaner to rule that out.
      But yeah likely electrical wear from button to board.

    My aux don't come up when I hold down am do you know what the problem could be?

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Howdy mate. From memory, as soon as I connected initially my rca wired aux connection under the dash and also when I swapped to the Bluetooth adapter under the dash.. For both, cycling the functions with the steering wheel from Fm1 to fm2, to CD to the aux automatically came up.
      In your case.. Maybe try unplugging the aux adapter and re connecting and see if there's any change? Perhaps the adapter is bad?

  • @hawkboy4
    @hawkboy4 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey mate im hoping you can help me. I've followed every step like you did except the line level converter because I have a aftermarket headunit. So I've just used the rca from the headunit to the amp. But the power light on the amp doesn't light up.

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate, frustrating hey. Double check fuse on your amp. Double check your earth is good, double check battery connection and power and earth connections to the amp. But first check your remote signal wire is well connected from fuse box and well connected to amp. Good luck mate 👊 let us know how you go

    Can I connect the wires to the front and back speakers with my sub

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You must need a line level converter to convert the speaker signal to the rca that the amp needs. You can connect rhed converter to either the front or rear speakers, I'd recommend the rear speakers.

  • @michaeltyson4750
    @michaeltyson4750 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does the line level converter not need power and earth ?

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mate, thankfully not. Consider the speaker wires are powering the converter.. Like a piggy back. And then it's doing its job converting to a left and right for the RCA.

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate, I haven't dealt with factory subs for Falcons. But I imagine disconnecting the factory sub and relocating to aftermarket sub speaker, it should work. Factory amp might only be able to give so much

    • @FordMercGuy
      @FordMercGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No dramas brother. It's just a factory positive point. So I just routed the positive cable lead from the amp through firewall and to that positive point because it looked cleaner than going straight to battery. Perhaps safer going straight from battery but 50,000ks later and no issues still.
