- This video shows how to add a subwoofer to your vehicles stock factory stereo (radio). Also, we will go through running and connecting the power and ground wires for the amplifier as well as how to connect and set the line out converter, including a special trick to figure out the proper speaker wire polarity. The vehicle used in the video is a 2018 Dodge Journey, but the procedure will cover any vehicle as the line out converter is universal!

Great video, however, I installed my LOC right behind the radio, and I wanted to know if that same method works for cars with screen panels. More modern cars. I’m not familiar enough with them to understand
Personally, I would definitely do it the way I showed in the video. Typically, pulling two door panels or trim panels will be easier than pulling the screen panel and whatever else is required to remove it (dash, trim, etc)
Although, both would achieve the same goal. I guess it would be a matter of personal preference.
Thank you for that, i appreciate the advice :)
I always wondered how they did that! 🎉🎉🎉 GOOD VIDEO!!!
Thank you!!!
Can I use any rca output converter ? For my ram 2015 factory radio
Yes
So the left channel cords go into the sub? Or amp
@troynepinak529 the wires connect to the speaker wires in the door. The rca connectors go to the amp. You also need to connect power, ground and remote.
@Blowncapacitor84 yeah thanks for that just wasn't sure about the one thing. Awesome vid btw , peace
@@troynepinak529 no problem anytime thank you
One thing I would have mentioned in the video is how to adjust the gain(level) setting on the converter...If the remote level control knob is hooked up and being used...The knob should be turned all the way up while the gain is being adjusted on the converter with either a test tone or familiar song playing with the radio volune around 75% volume...But it would take some guessing and fine tuning by ear to get the converters gain and the amps gain adjusted correctly...An oscilloscope would be the proper route but can still be done by a good ear.
I'm looking into getting an o-scope! But yeah sorry.
I didn’t see if you put that in the video
Nicely done my friend 😎🦅
Thank you!!! Got one uploading now with Miss Elizabeth in it!
This is the best way to do this i think! GREAT VIDEO MAN!
Thank you, bud!!!
Whoa!! I havent seen a Buick RoadMaster in soooooo long. Glad to see someone still has one💯
It's my baby! Lol thank you!
@@Blowncapacitor84 You're welcome
Where you see a riadmaster at???, and I see them all the time where you from
Which one is it out of the inverter for the bright side than the left side and negative and positive
Gray is left and white is right
Would this still apply to a car that has Bose system? It’s a mazdaspeed 6 2007
Yup! All it does is it takes the signal going to the speakers and lowers it to line level. I actually know a guy with a great bose system in a Mazda using a LOC
Can i use a LOC to install an Amp on my 2020 Mazda 6 or do i need another adapter?
Yup! No special adapter needed
Would I be able to wire my 2011 Kia Soul the same way?
Yup! It'll work perfectly!
What about veloster N
Yes
@@Blowncapacitor84 I tried rip pass seat out tied it behind the factory amp but radio won't shut off or no sound
@@AlanBarratt802Vt all you have to do is tap into the speakers it shouldn't affect how the radio turns on and off
@@Blowncapacitor84 I can send ya pics I tried twice I even followed yt vid from N prform I'm confused
Hooked up lc2 pro same way works perfect
Maannn you actually used that Lil small wire for your hot wire???? Wth
@greddmyles3677 lol look at the actual input wire from the harness. That wire that is powering the amp is capable of carrying WAY more than enough current for that amp.
@greddmyles3677 the only thing bad about it is there is not as much insulation so it could short easier but it's fused so it's good.
Can u do that if u have a factory sub and amp?
Yup! Just tap into the rear speakers and you can run a completely separate amp and sub while keeping the factory set up.
Thank you@@Blowncapacitor84
I did this to my son car and sub/amp stays on for about a minute after he turns the car off. I have the remote wired hooked up also. Is this something to be concerned about? Thanks for the video
Nope! I was actually gonna mention that but forgot. When it stops receiving the audio signal, it will wait about 60 seconds before shutting off (so if you mute it for a minute, it won't shut the amp off.) Thank you for watching bud!
@@Blowncapacitor84 thank you. Your videos are well put together and have helped a lot. Keep up the great work
@BrianBaker-lk2xi Thank you so much! That means alot!
So this will allow me to also hook up 2 amps, correct?
Awesome video!!!
@@PrincessMechanic Thank you!!
Mic time😅
So I have experience hooking up car stereo and amp but not to a stock deck …… just to be clear u ran the blue remote wire from the loc to the amp correct ? Speaker wire from loc to speakers in car . Ground the amp and power to the amp. As far as remote wire going to the amp it’s coming from the loc?
Yup. The loc has a blue wire that will hook to the amp. Sounds like you should be good.
Ok so let me start from beginning correct me anytime …
From loc…
Blue remote wire goes to the amp
From loc 2 pairs of speakers wire pos: negative spliced into rear speakers
RCA from loc goes to the amp.
From amp the ground is grounded
Power goes to battery
RCA connect tonloc
Remote wire from amp connect to loc
Then I can bridge a line out from amp to the my sub since it only has one speaker?
I have everything powered up eq n amos but no signal to sound the chuchero and bass😢 not sure why ... Im literally 99% done 😭
Do you have the remote wire connected?
@@Blowncapacitor84where do I connect it too on the fuse box?
The amp or the loc?
if i am connecting the LOC to my rear speakers where will i connect my yellow and blue wire too?
The yellow wire needs 12 volt power from the vehicle or battery. The blue is the remote wire and will connect to the blue wire on your amp. The LOC basically needs power to send to the amp and turn it on. It will turn off about a minute after the radio is off.
@Blowncapacitor84 I already ran a remote wire to my Amp separate from the LOC do I still need to power it?
@bassamaann If you ran a remote from the radio, then I don't think it needs power.
@@Blowncapacitor84can I still hook up the 12V yellow wire to the AMP and put it into the “ *12v * section the same wire that runs from the battery to the amp can I hook up there since its the same power?
@jerrylevine959 yup! It only gets voltage, so it will be fine.
Dude, totally need a cost sheet in the video description. But thanks!
Gonna go pull the trigger myself.
Great idea! Thank you!
