For the first time I watch R.K. Decades ago I had 1 record of them. The band was the opposite of the punk of the time. Great Midge Ure. Great vocal on Ultravox.
If I understand correctly, this is the different mix they specifically recorded for TOTP appearance, like what many bands around the time did when they appeared on the show.
You are correct. Bands had to go into a BBC studio and record themselves playing their latest single, then they would mime to it oon TOTP, very strange. I wish they would not that now, most of what is in the charts would never have been able to get on TOTP.
Not exactly a great song, but historically important. There was a lot of talent in that band that came forth in the next 5 or 6 years. Midge of course, but nice to see Glen Matlock on TOTP. Great to see this as I don’t remember it - but then again I was only 9 years ago lol. Thank you.
@trixiek942you are so right, Midge was on Steve Jones' radio show telling a story, how Malcolm McClaren and the Clash's manager were up in Scotland, and randomly stopped Midge coming out of a music store & asked him to be in a band that Malcolm was putting together (the sex pistols) McClaren also had some stolen music equipment in the trunk of his car, trying to sell it. Midge said no to being a sex pistol but bought the the equipment & said it was good quality. Amps & mics, Steve Jones said he had just stolen the equipment from Bowie's last Ziggy concert at Hammersmith 😂 Bowie's high quality mics.

How weird! I was randomly thinking about this band last night because my elder brother was playing Ultravox songs. They're pretty good, eh?
They were brilliant live...Steve New always showed up late and made up for it by making his Guitar scream!
