Love the idea of giving the ball to some amateurs' to play with. That's such a good test of equipment, balls or clubs, designed to bring relief to a high handicap golfer.

    • @robertdeangelo9634

I don't have a scam website to advertise but I agree. I hate the equipment tests when it's just tour pro's who are like "yeah that feels a bit better." means nothing to the general public. Even seeing Rick hitting a few doesn't mean a whole lot since, like he said, he might just be swinging well that day. If I see some high handicappers hitting this ball straight I'd highly consider giving them a go

Amateurs have difficulty squaring the face. No matter what you give them if they can’t square It and come way over the top. Not fixing the slice here.

It would have been a good idea to play 5 Pro V1’s as well so you could see the difference in distance and ball flight. Then you would have had a direct comparison to the ball you normally play

    • @-Thunder
      @-Thunder 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Yeah, kinda obvious alternating balls Maxfli vs. Pro V one after another would have painted a better picture. Rick tends to curve his balls though, and those Maxfli shots were really straight.

    • @shaun34

@@-Thunder yes compared to his normal ball flight you could tell that Maxfli was very straight. That chuckle after each shot also showed how much Rick could tell his shot was so much straighter. Hey Rick! What I would have loved to have seen you do with these balls is try to intentionally hit a draw or a fade. Straight aiming golf balls are generally marketed towards golfers who slice or hook the ball, so trying to hit a power-fade and seeing if it flies straight would be the best test!

I've used these balls before, early in my golf playing days (2 years ago and last year) and I like them. Once I learned how to properly align myself, they helped me take several strokes off per round. I went twice in one week, using regular balls, and these, and had 7 less strokes with the straightfli. That being said, I'm improving each round, and I'll use them more after I am hitting consistently, and see what I truly think of them. But, for cheap balls to play with your buddies, they're great.

These do work. I drive the ball long, but not straight. I've been playing with those illegal balls because I can hit almost every fairway with them. These ones aren't as good, but they are legal. I've reduced my slices and hooks with these by a lot. If I hit an awful shot, instead of slicing into the next fairway over, I'll just be in the rough next to my fairway. With normal balls, I'll hit maybe 4 fairways. With these I hit probably half. But my misses are so much closer to the fairway than they were.

Last year I found one of these and played it for three rounds. Did some research and found they were developed to fly straighter. I'm a 10hcp and bought some and have never looked back. They really do work. These help that occasional annoying fade of mine off the tee and keep the penalty strokes down.

Rick, I’ve been playing these balls all season since watching this video and can unequivocally say these balls fly straight! I’m hitting more fairways than ever and have lowered my handicap to its lowest ever, 8. I also shot my lowest round ever, 70. THESE BALLS ARE NO JOKE! When I played a ProV1 I was able to work them when needed left and right and had a draw bias on my drive. With the MaxFli Straightfli I cannot work them left or right, only hit them straight which is fine for me.

Rick, great shots with this ball. I was a sales associate at Dick's Sporting Goods (not working their now) in their golf shop. We sold alot of these and others in the Maxfli brand. I've played these straightfli and the softfli balls. I'm a mid-handicapper on my best days😁. I figured trying them out so as to know whether to recommend them for similar players. They do play nice. A definite difference in feel between the two balls. I did recommend them and many repeat customers commented on playing well with the Maxfli.
In the US currently they're running at $35 for two dozen. They also make some 3 piece Tour balls.

Definitely do a follow-up video with some mid to high HC'ers to see how it works for them. I used Maxfli golf balls for years when I was just starting out. I have a sweet spot in my heart for them.

Would love to see you try the Wilson Triad. They aren't claiming as much crazy straight flight as this, but they are saying improved stability and some amount of straighter flight in a quality mid priced ball.

I can attest to the performance of these Straightfli golf balls. I tend to slice a bit and have used the Taylormade TP5x, Titleist ProV1, Taylormade Tour Response, and Callaway Chrome Soft golf balls. I honestly did see a marked improvement on ball spin with the Maxfli golf balls BUT, I have lost a lot of feel on the greens. Now that the price has jumped up, I am looking for a new ball to use again before going back to the TP5X or the ProV1.

Hi Rick, thanks for this demo, very interesting. Why not try to play fades and draws with it? I guess that to be straighter there is less lateral spin, but then also less back spin, no? Thanks, cheers

In 1995 there was a conforming golf ball with a 'counter-active' dimple pattern. It claimed to reverse the balls spin. The ball was the Slazenger 420i. They were a cheap 2 piece ball with strange patterned variable depth dimples. When I tested it on the golf course with a few other Pros we concluded that it worked. It didn't fly as far as many balls, and it obviously didn't have the feel of the Titleist Professional of the day. But, I used it to pass my PGA Players Ability Test on Dec. 16, 1996 at Camelback GC in Scottsdale Arizona.

I have not played for some years but suffer quite a bad slice. I even have an offset driver which I have to open the face to sometimes get the ball to go straighter!

I used these last week. I was impressed. They worked 90 percent of the time. The times it didn't work was me trying way too hard and slicing it just as bad as normal. Worth a try for those wanting to stay in the game with a little less frustration.

I think that giving the straightfli ball to a group of amateurs to test is a great idea. Last fall I tested the Maxfli straightfli against the Maxfli softfli, for feel and touch around the green. I did notice that they (straightfli balls) are have a harder feel than the softfli balls. This spring i will test for direction (straight flight). BTW, In the U.S. these balls are available for ~$20/dozen (2 dozen for $35) at Dick's Sporting goods or Golf Galaxy, a bit cheaper than amazon @~$30/dozen. thanks for testing them.

You always use the prov1 id love to see you do a proper ball fitting across all the golf balls. A few months ago you said you were struggling to putt I found that not only did the putter cause misses and human error but the golf ball can actually help with putting straighter finding that right golf ball may save you strokes.

  • @randybelk4326
    @randybelk4326 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I picked up a box of these last week and they definitely fly straighter. With that said, I was still able to shape a shot when I needed to. We were playing on a course I had never played and on one particular shot I got myself in trouble under a tree on the right side of the fairway on a par 5. I was 150 yards out, but my only shot at the green was to play it out to the left and fade in back. Hit a 7 iron with the club face slightly open. The ball started left and came back perfectly to the right. I missed the green, but was just off to the left, pin high.
