U2 can only ever dream about being this good. Thin Lizzy are By far the greatest band to come out of Ireland. RIP Phil you will never be forgotten.
No need to compare two excellents bands :)
Btw Bono's voice has waaaay more possibilites than Phil Lynott's, when it comes to guitar and rhythmic though...
@@monstermagnet3150 Phil way more inventive musically.
Oui,c est vrai.
Avec les POGUES aussi !

I saw the undertones with the outcasts in a french festival in november 2018.
Among drummers, Downey is a legend.
Agree, in one of my bands we have had 4 really good drummers and all of them have struggled with some of the Thin Lizzys tracks we do...Emearlad being one them!
Right on man 🥁♥️👍🏻
Absolutely, this comes through again and again, but especially on this song... It is almost centered around him more than Phil's bass lines... Also, Snowy White , thank you , just another great Axe slinger here, underrated player underrated album, I have them all. I like this effort for sure... Also, I love that Scott has the "Cigarette'" stuck in his strings like ROBO always had in his Les Paul... However, first time seeing Scott playing the strat with the Whammy bar ! Great contrast, I think a perfect song to bring back to the "feel / Image" of boys are back in town but much tougher, more Dublin or wherever.... You knew it might be a rough Night!! TL (Thin Lizzy) Total legends... forever.. Thanks for the upload!🍻🎸
Totally
@@kelvinwade5649that's because Downey has that swing that not a lot of rock drummers have. For Lizzy you might need a jazz guy.
RIP Phil Lynott (August 20, 1949 - January 4, 1986), aged 36
You will be remembered as a legend.
One of the greatest frontman in the Rock 'n Roll history, without doubt! Phil Lynott was fantastic!
Tbh one of those singers and bands that's a bit better than or about as good as you'd expect, considering. Good singing timbres Lynott.
Phil was and is a rock legend👍
He is, he is the man who made me want to perfom and be a frontman in a band! One of my idols.
"In Chinatown , you better look around "
He's immortalised in these videos, ageless. He was only 36 when he died. He'd be about 72 years old now. Amazing story tellingly skills. A wonderful musician, lyricist and singer. Still a little in love with him.
I remember seeing Phil on stage in Belfast with Gary Moore just months before he (Phil) died, He had so much charisma he had the audience eating out of his hand. We're all still in love with him!
yea there was a documentary about thin lizzy yesterday and old band mates on bbc four ex girlfriend and his ex wife and the two grown-up daughters talking what there could remember think about 73 age he would have been now
Sadly my generation didn't get to see Thin Lizzy in their golden days, I dream of visiting Ireland and seeing everything Philip ever saw. I know you are special and I feel your music with my heart.
My dad has thin lizzy live at the bbc on double green vinyl he saw them at least 6 times
He lived right next to where my parents grew up, did you ever hear the saying he had about being asked about where he came from? @@_thaiszanoviak
Snowy white class guitar 🎸 in this
This gem of a video is unavailable in the US and I had to make myself German to see it lol
Wow, that's crazy! Odd as. Keep Rockin' Mate!
R.I.P Phil , A great musician & A wonderful band.🎸♥️✌🏻
Rip Phil absolute legend. Great band
One of the greatest live bands of all time, whatever the line up
Phil is essential! :)
The greatest!just saying!
Not without Phil. RIP
Yes, that is it, the band was, like the who, a lot of hard work and heaps of talent and charisma
The more I listen to them the better they get, one of the greatest indeed.
もうね、ドラムがたまりません♪♪♪♪♪♪
Every now and then you need a dose of Thin Lizzy, just to remind you of how great this band were. Absolutely relentless rock that doesn't stop to draw breath like in this track and 'Killer on the loose' are essential listening.
100%
Killer on the loose wasn't the least bit clever or cool. Lizzy displayed intense insensitivity releasing that song when they did in 1980, when the Yorkshire ripper murders were ongoing. They obviously didn't think about the victims families and what they were going through.
CANT AGREE MORE ON THAT ONE FUKIN AWSOME 💪💥💯😎🤘
You mean all the time.
@@stephenroche5107 Yeah, ok I'll give you that one😁
Best Rock , Hard rock Irish band.
Possibly the best intro to a rock song ever. The first 15 seconds.....pure class!
Also the best ending to a rock song.
Agreed! I remember being like 8 years old and there used to be an ad on TV for one of those Greatest Rock Hits CD collections, and they played that descending twin guitar part and I just loved the sound of it and thought it was the coolest thing ever. Here I am around 30 years later still listening to it.

Just another timeless classic from the Fabulous Thin Lizzy. Saw them 3 times in the early 80s as a young teenager 🎸
Brian Downey is a underrated monster on drums!
So many songs he alone is the hard working labour champion ♥
but also with such timing and perfection.
Falling off the edge of the world to me is a benchmarks of insane
progressive groovy bass along with matching drumwork...damn,
it make me all exhausted after it throwing me between the walls (8 ○
Only song i can put beside it is Opium Trail \m/
Brian Downey in bad reputation is an amazing performance.
Amazing drums. Love it
You must play the drums? The guy is!!!! Different class
@@stewbeattie4316 Hi, thx for the assumption, but no i dont play anything im afraid, my teen giutar dreams went down the drain due to several reasons and my drumset i swapped for a moped was banned from home, then my mates appartment and finally another mates parents house....

Brian - an amazing drummer and a Gentleman 🥁😍
The greatest rock band to ever come out of Ireland - simply marvelous!
U2
ahh Taste?
One of the greatest the world has seen.
Maybe Stiff Little Fingers
Out of anywhere.
With the very good drummer Brian Downey.
Daamn! This is what a rockstar really looks like.
This guitar riff is truly amazing. Whole chinatown is amazing and got a lot of classics and memorable moments for me. All 3 guitars are on the high level, Downey’s drums and Phill’s vocals are greatest of all time
The Heist did support for Talk to strangers in slats caple st back in the day I met Mr Downey as as 17 year old Thin Lizzy brought me to life thanks
I’m only 22 but funnily enough my dad got me into Thin Lizzy when I was about 15, the boys are back in town and Chinatown will always remind me of how I was bought up with such amazing music. Timeless classic
I’m 14 currently but the same thing happened to me but when I was about 5 my dad had me listening to cowboy song and Chinatown and dancing in the moonlight etc but I agree they are a timeless classic
brian downey rock's most underrated drummer
Not by people like you and me who know better ❤
Yes.
Agree
His patterns are superb, so few drummers add anything significant to the songs but he does. Deserves a writing credit.
Great drumming for sure 💎🥁🥁
Great great band and Brian Downey is an absolutely awesome drummer. He is the heartbeat of this fabulous band.
this is probably the most underrated song i was thinking it would have more views

My 6 brothers and said it the very first time that we got to see Thin Lizzy & Rory Gallagher play live in the very early days and followed both for the remaining years, that we will never get to see more brilliant rocking bands then Thin Lizzy & Rory Gallagher and we have been proven completely correct, wat a most stunning great play Snowy was/is, Thin Lizzy was the perfect fit for his playing. Because of the advice that Phil gave, I never wet back to China Town, a dangerous place, fighting women down there.
Всю жизнь сижу на музыке как наркотик от Тощей Лизы , мне уже почти 60 лет , живу в Беларуси , Могилёв . Много лет хотел их увидеть живыми , жаль уходят великие ..
Oh and the drumming is massive here :):)
Wasn't it always?
Kills me all day..
So intense from start to finish, its like a rollercoaster rock'n'roll ride! Great drumming, as always by Brian Downey! 👍🤘
You know what? Those drums are brilliant, Downey at his peak, was always very underrated drummer
By far the best Irish band of all time. Saw them live multiple times & they tore the place up with their non-stop heavy rock winners, back to back brilliance. Phil Lynott was utterly unique in his powerful charisma, voice and lyrics. I think Prince may well have studied his look and based his own sultry eyes and hair on Philo's. This was heavy rock at its best, with blazing twin guitars, deadly drumming and a frontman/bassist like no other.
Well spoken
Wow!!! Brian Downey really rocks! Probably one of the best rock groups ever. Phil's bass lines are just amazing-
B.D. kills me. Everytime..
This band will never ever be replaced simple
Thats a fact John.. Phil would be 70 today...Think what he still do today and torrow..
'Emerald' and 'Chinatown', for my money the two best Thin Lizzy tracks ever and the two best Rock Tracks EVER!!
Lucky to see thin lizzy several times in the late 70s and early 80s
Two guitars + bass/vocal + drums ... perfect! - Bronco.
Chinatown is one of my favourite Lizzy albums. Very bluesy.
I love this album so much. Especially trucks ; having a good time, sweetheart, Chinatown ...
Hit me with that drum, Brian. Hit me as HARD AS YOU CAN.
I enjoy all of their bluesy stuff honestly. They really can do some music like this, though thin lizzy didn’t stick for just one genre and I really do appreciate that
Anyone who thumbed this down should be smacked in the mouth and have their internet taken away. One of their best songs, absolutely magnificent. That guitar solo at the end will melt your face off. Rock on!
Too true mate.take care out there.
Easily the third best Thin Lizzy track, cuts like a razors edge.
All excellent musicians and that's a compliment to Phil for sourcing the best!
Phil and Brian created Thin Lizzy to be the greatest guitar band on the planet....this track is the pinnacle of that goal
highlight of the 70's and early 80's
What a great Song. You can identify Scott's Solo immediately under a Million Solos .
excellent drumming!
Heard this in the car this morning, played it about 16 times on TH-cam today and it's only 7 o'clock 💥💥
Greatest no doubt from Ireland , my fave band 🎶
Powerhouse drumming! 👍👍
Сильнейшие рокеры суперская группа жаль в семидесятых было мало их записей рок 🎸 навсегда здорово 👍
Phil's amazes me every time i hear him! Miss you,Phil
Brian Downey is the star here!
I agree. A truly brilliant band and Downey was a titanic drummer!
Astronomic Rock Band !
most awesome rock groove of all time
Je suis désolé quoi que
Clairement l'un des meilleurs !
Saw this in the early 80s... it's still brilliant and Lizzy is still the greatest rock band ever!
Beside the extra powerful voice, the performance, the vibes and everything... I've been playing guitar for about a year now and also started taking lessons from a while and the only thing i can think whrn i hear something like this is:
How the fuck can a human being be THIS good at playing an instrument?
Must be countless hours consuming their fingers on cords and an insane dose of natural talent i guess...
You can almost hear the thousands of hours playing driven by passion through their riff/solos...
Inspirational to the max!
🧙🏻♂️🪄🎸
Probably their best song for me....but they had so many R.I.P.🎸🎤🥁🎹🎼🎸
Thin lizzy legend of the work rock band .
i remember Gary Moore was saying that he never wanted to play in A Rock band ever again.
This Song Is very powerful. Phil Is a real rocker 🤘
The music are amacing, very tight. But the lyrics...
seriously underrated album, perhaps because of the glitzier and more polished production unusual for the band but that's part of why I like it - really has a "flashy decadent neon lit 1980s crime movie" feel to it
Brilliant great thanks he understands what he's singing about
that drum intro gets me everytime.
Metoo...
Me too .. I love it and hate it at the same time, respect it above all
Yeah, he could really play. The drummer in my band from a few years ago idolised him
Scott Gorham forever underrated forever a god guitarist 🤘🏻🔥
@@Unknown.Creation seen him in a pub near The Ironworks in Inverness Pretty sure it was before their gig and he was just relaxing with a few drinks and good company. For anyone interested it was a good show a long time after Phil had died and now they have fooken closed the Ironworks!
simply the best front man
Just rediscovered thin lizzy, forgot how good they are, they still rock.
Snowy White lead guitar legend replaced Gary Moore another guitar legend. Today's music has not guts anymore! Rock n Roll lives.
Snowy caught a falling Lizzy but he was/is a great player.
The Best Band Ever!!!
Probebly right..
Interesting name for someone from Poland. Ancestry from Russia/Belarus? :) And yes, Thin Lizzy were one of the best if not the best rock band of all time, imo.
Jeśli nie to jednym z najlepszych. Inspiracją dla wielu znakomitych zespołów. Fenomenalni artyści z Philem na czele.

hell of an intro!! the lil solo and then drums....awesome
This is my faovurite Lizzy lineup, I love the balance between Scott Gorham and Snowy White, amazing feel and licks from both of them,
brian robertson and scott gorham... that where the men... and all times with gary... but at the end... TL was amazing all times... miss TL and phil... )-:

Agreed! One of the greatest of all time!
So many idiots out there thats why

Such great riffs. Why wasn't this on my suggestion list.
'Chinatown' is Lizzy's most underrated album. Every song a gem except for 'Didn't I?'.
I always loved this album, such a great atmosphere, lovely Les Paul sounds, just hearing this takes me right back to the moment my dad first played it for me, so memories are strongly entrenched along with the stunning music. It's a bit overwhelming actually ..
Thin Lizzy had alot of hit singles compared to most rock bands of the era & my mum used to love them but hated every other hard rock band I listened to - says alot about Phil Lynott's song writing talent & charisma
Rock for moms then?
A great bunch of lads!
