This is my updated opinion about all Fontaine arc characters released from 4.0 to 4.4 update :D

The biggest slap in the face is her atk scaling like she really do not want to be linked to geo element and def scaling lmao
The highest damage potential Navia comp as of this patch ditches the second geo for Xianyun. Navia actually has a plunge buff in her kit and plunging is a far better way to generate crystals than attacking, plus deals way more damage. Navia spamming plunge actually generates more crystals than most of her double geo setups.
Navia's interesting in that she uses a geo mechanic in a way that basically makes her not care about other geos. She only cares about geo application, so a workaround that lets her pump up her own geo application is just as good as a second character. She's the best geo for sure, but like the other decent-good geos in the game, Zhongli and Yun Jin she got there by not trying mono geo jank and as such not really needing other geos.
@@kleinsen cuz if she scales with defense she will be Itto 2.0, which means shell need Gorou to reach her max potential, which leads to locking her in a mono Geo team just like Itto , which will make it even harder to create crystalise
I think the solution for Geo is just to adjust Gorous kit, so that it takes only 2 characters for him to reach his maximum buff, so that mono geo teams could run Furina + Healer with double geos

@@mikonyx7712 He's not, but he was certainly a "make and forget" character by MHY. With an interesting but overall wonky kit. It could be better but that'll depend on MHY.
To be honest the biggest winner's are Navia and Chevreuse for reviving older reactions and Furina and Xianyun for making older characters viable again.

Lyney and furina also revived mono teams.
Furina and Xianyun for giving players new way to play the game (especially for those that never use healer and only use Zhongli)
navia relying on crystallise is just a gimmick lol it does absolutely nothing and you never really build a team focusing on maximising crystallise
well technically navia doesn't revive much of the crystallization mechanic, but she made crystallize much more viable. Crystallization itself is trash with the em buff on crystallize being straight out useless. Chevreuse opened up the new teams idea centered around overload. Furina is the gigachad here, massively improving many underrated characters and aoe healers, putting high regards towards aoe healers like mika and jean

My theory is that the real purpose behind hydro traveler design was exploration and puzzles, because the only interesting part of their kit is that you can aim the pneuma beam, and with the free lynette you have both arkes. But then again, that doesnt excuse the fact that their gameplay feels so bad
They intentionally makes traveller kit weak because they want people to pull for stronger character and not stick to traveller.its a money game so they won't give you strong char for free.
They've made a mistake in the past by making dendro MC a good unit so they decided to breakeven with Hydro MC by giving him/her a mediocre kit. Also Hydro is the best element, they don't want to create a busted free character, that will affect their banner sales.

@@Rockypop100.Even then, most if not all of the puzzles that require arkhe already have the orbs somewhere nearby, which bow characters can use and snipe, so they already kinda got outdone in that niche
freminet deserves so much more, one of the most fun characters
also, relating to the notes on navia and chevreuse, freminet trys to enable shatter (it does not really work)
Imagine if shatter work like on tcg where is making the same dmg of forward melt
claymore cryo characters suffer from the lackluster reaction.. I wish they reworked that altogether instead of just reducing phys res
His kit is fine right. His numbers are just so horrible that you can't use his kit properly
Freminet does not enable shatter. He just gets a DMG and (at C4) ATK buff from triggering shatter every now and then, which is inevitable if you're running him with a hydro unit.

Are they? Sumeru has Faruzan and yao yao which are amazing. Layla is decent and Yeah i guess that makes 3 viable 4 stars. Fontaine only has Chevruse and maybe gaming

@@nyes4596 I mean it's not like Fontaine 4 stars are any better. Freminet is mid. Lynette is just there like why would you use her over any another anemo unit unless you're a new player. Charlotte is a decent healer but that's it and due to her being cryo you can't really use her in most teams. Gaming is a good dps. So realistically so far Only gaming and maybe Charlotte have been good. Same as Sumeru where only Yao Yao and Layla have been good

I cannot believe how Furina gave a big impact in my account! I leveled up my level 1 Jean to Level 90 and now I use Furina with Jean all the time! I didn’t see the day where I will build and use Jean.

I've only played the male characters on my account and, while I've been alright so far, it's clear we've been long overdue not only for more male characters but a wider range of male supports. I hope an Electro male support character is on the horizon some day...

I agree about Freminet but also feel bad at the same time. He did his best with his gameplay perhaps it's because his role is like 4* Eula, I wish Hoyo will make another physical supporter who can buff physical damage like Xianyun who can buff plunge damage 😊
My favorite fontaine character is Freminet. He's very fun to play and can be super strong. But yeah, physical can be a bit underwhelming, I do love to see the big white numbers though!

knowing the harbingers that are playable, she's probably gonna be a strong mid DPS no offense to Childe and Wanderer. plus side is she's rumored to be a overload DPS so that might be interesting

Arlecchino, clorinde and chevreuse synergy with each other. Making them on par with Nahida bloom/hyperbloom team

I love Xianyun. She's fun to use in exploration. She make my Diluc finally getting some use. I could easily cleared half of floor 12 with my Furina, Bennet, Xianyun & Diluc team. Although still couldn't get 36* because my other team is not good enough yet, or just skill issue I guess.

C6 Lynette as an on field driver for Fischl and Yelan was a lot of fun when Fontaine first came out, was part of my first perfect abyss clear team in in Fontaine. Very fun to play, but can't argue that she isn't that great, or rather gets outshined
I think most people are severely underestimating Xianyun and should belong in defining, but otherwise I completely agree with this list. It's so crazy in contrast to Sumeru where most of the characters would be at the bottom end of this list, it's so refreshing to see how many strong characters there are in Fontaine. I feel like even Freminet is more user friendly than some of the version 3 characters
I think she is really good and buffs characters a lot, but I think it needs something more, like furina has insane dmg, hp changing enabling the artifact set, very big buffs, and buffed healers as a whole, but cloud retainer is still a very very good character

@@tranviettung9792There is no "game breaking" tier, he literally said defining. Xianyun enables an entirely new powerful play style for a bunch of characters for whom it was previously inaccessible. If that isn't defining or game changing, I don't know what is.
@@tranviettung9792Even without plunging she's never leaving most Furina teams, she's a straight up upgrade over other team healers, consolidating VV shred, no circle impact and TTDS buffing. Not to mention her exploration mobility rivals Yelan and Wanderer. Mark my words, Xianyun will easily surpass Kazuha as the most desirable return character, it's crazy how people still underestimate her kit.

So far, I have pulled C1 Furina and C0 Nuevilette + Weapon for 5 stars. Pulling for their cons on their reruns.
I need Neuvi at C1 as well, was running him with Dehya, Bennet and Furina

I basically have Furina on all my teams.
Fontaine is my first region- started Genshin last patch of Sumeru and I love these characters.
Furina has been amazing- even using Bennett as a healer. Added Navia to the mix and NatGeo is just a powerhouse for me. Xianyun makes Navia even better and she's very easy to build as a support.
I've got Primos saved up for Neuevillette C1 and thanks to Nadhida Hyperbloom I feel like I can hang with any Abyss that isn't Wenut (F-that guy). Hype for Clornide and Arlequino is pretty massive, so really enjoying Fontaine.
I was more surprised with how generous navia's kit is in terms of scaling numbers.... Especially after what they did to dehya.
You talk about who bad the go construcs are but I hear that chidori will change that

I just wanna say that 4 stars which they add during Fontaine are extremely good and much better from what we got while Sumeru. I quite like to use Lynette, Charlotte is an amazing healer and it's just fun to run around with her taking pictures of enemies dying. Chevreuse made the overload teams shine and Gaming is just a solid 4 star dps. So am quite content with the state of the 4 stars in Fontaine. I hope they will continue to be good
Wriothsley has really fun synergy with xianyun too! I use wrio, furina, shenhe, and Xianyun. Na2 Ca Jump cancel plunge repeat and finish with burst after about 4-5 plunges
Chevreuse just allows you to use Pyro and electro characters even when you haven't built them fully. The RES shred and atk buff she provides improves your team dmg and are super easy to proc. I think she's great to use early in your adventure when you don't have the artifacts to make your characters shine. Perhaps not the best for end game as overload isn't huge but if you don't have any anemo units with good vv she's great plus she heals so she consolidate a lot of roles into one
navia saved herself from geo, not the element. if you use any geo team without navia, it pales in comparison to other teams
Zhongli and Navia being the only high A tier geo characters after nearly 4 years is such a crime
Zhongli is hardly A tier if you're good enough at dodging, honestly.

@@Antigen__ that's exactly what makes him good. He's good and great in so many teams. You do realise that Versatility is one of the most important things right? It's not like he's S tier not even close. But he's easily A tier due to how comfortable and the value he provides to so many characters. Plus his res shred stacks with VV so it's better to run him + VV and it's not like Anemo can swirl every element.
My pulling choices in Fontaine basically flipped due to in-game experience. I was hyped for Neuvillette until I tried him out & passed because of his dull as dishwater combat mechanic. Wrio was initially a pass until I tried him out & had to have that playstyle in my roster. Furina was initially giving strong 'valley girl' vibes so I planned to skip as nobody needs that level of vapid in their lives but the 4.2 arc changed that. Lyney was always a pass, Navia was a maybe that became a 'hell yeah!' after the trial & I picked up all the 4* units of course. Next target of interest is Clorinde, for no reason in particualr...
Thats a really good list. I think I agree whole heartedly with that list. Furina was a absolute game changer for me. Not only is she low investment (though you get massive benefits from investing too), but she essentially can work with nearly any team comp. And for me personally hydro was an element I didn't really utilize much outside of Yelan and Kokomi, so Furina provided that missing piece of Hydro I needed. Fontaine has easily been my favorite core update (Enkanomiya was legendary) to date! I hope Chiyori is a great 4 star as her design is *chefs kiss*.
Fr, in my second account which I started on fontaine's release. She single handedly helped me reach ar 50 in 3 weeks. I just used the adventure set on Furina and Charlotte and they went ham. My team was Furina, Charlotte, Xingqiu and Kaeya.

Eh. He's crazy strong, but all of the solo abyss runs everyone did were during the 4.1 abyss with an insanely good blessing for him. He'll still do great now, obviously, but the difference between hydro swirl and no hydro swirl (especially with Kazuha) is literally like doubling your damage and he almost feels weak without it in many cases.

I accidently got Neuvilette. Early pity. Was saving for Wriothesley but was interested in a 4 star.
I'm going to make an Overload Klee to pair with Chevruse, it makes sense because Explosions.
Navia - Open up geo reaction
Furina - Open up healer and hp change character ( like wrio, neuv, or even hu tao), but well mostly healer
Chev - Open up overload reaction. While still not that good, tbh it kinda become viable as long as you get her at c6.
Xianyun - Open up plunge gameplay, mostly claymore user will suit this
I mean, neuvilette is good character and all, but he is just him, dont open up more gameplay or anything, unlike what i just mentioned above. YOu just set up some buff (kazu, bernett) and some off field if you want (fiscl, xiangling) and just give him the field time. If you dont have c1, probably some shield and resistance like zhongli, but tbh, as long as you got c1, the others are only bonus. Have fun at first, but as time goes, quite boring (personal opinion)
The others like trio siblings and wrio, honestly, i don't really care about them. I mean, not their character, but their gameplay. Charlotte only used for furina if you dont have suitable healer.

Neuvillette:
100% damage - 100% otter
Wriothsley:
50% damage - 50% C1
Furina:
50% dmg buff - 49% damage - 1% healing
Navia:
50% crits - 50% doesn't crit
Xianyun:
0% damage - 100% Xiao Maker
Furina:
60% damage to opponent - 39% damage to team - 1% healing
So real for navia i have more than 70 crit rate and she NEVER CRITS

Raiden, chevreuse, bennett as a backup unit and lyney is my sniper team. Rarely does anything survive long enough to reach him. Closed quarters fight? Np, u burst then switch to raiden after benny and chevy.

4:50 Hydro traveller is a viable alternative to Kokomi in Nilou bloom teams.
That's the only usage I see for him.
Makes me wonder what Natlan could bring to the table, all we know pyro resonance is all about atk
I am still waiting for a character that can revive a dead reaction called Burning (hopefully something happens in Natlan!)
My C0 Navia hits over a million damage with her R2. She hasn't left my team since I pulled her.

The only Fontainian character I use like for Abyss is Furina. Then Xianyun and Gaming, who aren't even from Fontaine in this version. All other Fontainian 5 stars were a skip for me.
I'm not sure whether I should try pull for neuvi or furina on their rerun. Furina is a versatile support but I'm worried neuvi might get the eula treatment. At least we all know when archons will get their reruns. Maybe I'll try both and see where my luck lands lol
Pull Furina i wasnt convinced about her but my Furina Kokomi team unironically does more damage than my Ayato with Haran Gepaku. She is an insane buffer and damage dealer. Hell she can even make dps Noelle a thing

At least we can predict when archons will have their rerun in order from patch x.0 to x.x like currently (zhongli 4.0, venti 4.1, ei 4.3, nahida 4.4..) It's not like I have a lot of pulls lol and I'm unlucky so getting either of them is good enough
It depends on your account, if your teams are built and you're satisfied with your damage dealers, then boosting them with Furina is the way to go. If you want big damage numbers, a new playstyle and completely sustainable dps at C0, then look no further and pull for Neuvillette. I personnally have Neuvi at c0r1, no furina, but I don't really feel anything lacking in my account since my healers and buffers are ready to back me up!

Between a reverse melt team with c1 wrio, c5 xiangling, c0 bennet and c0 xianyun and a plunge team with c0 diluc, c0 xianyun, c0 furina and c0 xingqiu, which team is better to use?? I’m relatively new to the game and don’t know which team to focus on building more, any help is much appreciated🙏🏾
For Xianglin you better off just going with National team so Xianglin, Bennet, Kazuha/Sucrose, and flexible hydro aplicator (preferably Xingqiu, Neuvilette, and Childe).
For plunge team you can go Xianyun, Furina, Yelan/Xingqiu, and Diluc/Hu Tao. Though Hu Tao is so much stronger than Diluc and is easier to use.
Fontainians powercreep'd a lot of elements = pyro, hydro, cryo, geo.
Kind of crazy how much fontaine shook teambuilding in such a short amount of time. Every optimal team for almost every character has 1 or 2 from Fontaine now
I am a proud Physical DPS user and I gladly welcomed the addition of Freminet! I like Emo Diver lad!
Finally someone who actually has a brain!
I'm so sick of the "they need really good supports" argument that is so unfairly used in the game. It's so weird that people will act like it's a given that you have characters like c6 Xingqiu and Yelan to support Hu Tao, but then will act like having Bennett and Furina for Gaming is some insane ask. And yeah, I left out the big bird. The big bird is a really nice support for him, but is absolutely not needed, just as his c6 isn't. Though my Gaming is now C6 with the big bird's buff, I was still getting upwards of 60k per E without them, respectable damage by all metrics. I keep hearing Gaming's amazing synergy with supports being toted as a bad thing when in reality it's what makes him so amazing. There are few characters that synergize perfectly with the best buffers of the game. C6 Bennett check, Furina check, Kazuha/Xianyun check. The reason Gaming is so good is because of how perfectly he synergizes with existing units and people need to stop considering this a downside for new units.
This is the best batch of characters. Navia is my surprise underdog winner. Furina is best girl. Xianyun and Gaming mobility is fun. I pulling for Chiori just on her visuals. And hoping the rest of the characters are cool and do new things.

I think neuvillette if you struggle a lot with dealing damage to enemies/have no good dps, otherwise go for furina since she works on more teams
I thought I'm the only one who thinks about it lol. Yeah Wriothesly is fun because I really like Heizou's play style too. Heizou is my early dps. Now Wriothesly is my main. Gonna pull for C1 for sure.
I feel like charlotte would be better if she wasnt cryo because her instant healing is quite literally the best healing for furina and cryo isnt the best support option for alot of teams
Idk i like fremi, he’s not the “must build” everyone wants but his gameplay is so fun lol esp if u like claymores, really refreshing its like when I got diluc for the first time

For Lynette's C6, it's honestly pretty underwhelming. I have her C6 with talents at 9 9 8 just because I like her deadpan vibe.
C6 infuses her AA with Anemo, but her AA modifier is just very low.
On top of that she has pretty bad hit lag between auto attacks making the attacks just really slow, and maybe thats why theres no AA focused sword user.
Ayato is using his clone, Yoimiya with bow, Scara/Heizou Catalyst, Keqing is CA and Alhaitham's dmg is mostly his shards.
Her E travel distance is also quite short and bit slow compared to Sayu / Yelan / Xianyun. Quite unfortunate really, being the freebie.
Ahem. Ayato's damage is mostly coming from his normal attacks. They just scale off his E talent. What Ayato mostly benefits from is his large AoE.
@@Antigen__ As i said, his auto attack is from his clone, not from his sword itself, theres no hitlag from the clone.
Well, the damage is coming from himself but not regular sword hits is what im saying. Not an infusion, just a skill disguised as auto attack.
@@caitw6528 When you say "the clone" I imagine the clone it makes at the start of the skill that explodes. The NA hits are coming from Ayato himself, and they do have hitlag, just very little and less on average than his physical NAs.
As expected, the archon and Fontaine celebrity Furina is the most meta-defining character so far since 4.0. I would rank Xianyun 2nd place and Neuvillete 3rd just for one of the best teams in the game solo Neuvillete abyss run!

Those things have interactable hitboxes for players therefore they'll break.
Its fair if they can break from enemy attacks, but its bs if they break if enemy just walk in their hitbox range.

Watch out if you use Bennett with C6 Lynette. Bennett’s own C6 will override it with Pyro. The only C6 infusion that’s strong is Furina’s.

Hydro travelers kit is head scratching, they need to make his ult a point and click that doesn’t travel and allow you to walk while channeling his skill, then he would at least be usable

it's not even reaction. there are no 2 elements affected. it's just effect when frozen enemies gets crushed by heavy weapon attack.
Crystallize is NOT worse. It's the "damage is king" mentality of players. Crystallize offers defense, but players of curse prefer to see big pp damage.
To be fair, crystalize shields aren't that great. To improve them you need to build em, which won't benefit anything else in the kit of any geo character, meaning you have to make a geo character a solely defense oriented, and why not use any other shielder that can bring some other things to the table like Layla, Diona or Thoma?
Hoyoverse just simply hates it's claymore characters. They make all the most meta and synergetic characters for all other weapon types but when it comes to claymore they just slap it on there without a care in the world.
Well Xinayun should not be on this list unless you meant all the characters that got released during Fontaine. Nevertheless Furina, Neuvillete and Navia are huge W's. Furina is amongst the best supports in the game, Neuvillete is stupidly strong having great synergy with so many teams and Navia is the best Geo DPS that made Geo rival other elements and reactions like hyperbloom. I'd love to say the same about Wriothesley but the fact of the matter is that he REALLY needs his 1st constelation in order to be comfortable for all players. Unless you got a built Thoma with Benny and a Dendro unit for burning reverse melt reactions it's pretty hard to play him at C0. His damage is there yes but it makes it harder for his self sustain with how rapid fast he loses HP to prock his healing ability. He is the most fun character to play in my opinion but they really gave him the Dehya treatment with the constelations.

The biggest adventage of kazuha is cc which will allow you to deal dmg to multiple opponents in one hit (if you have 4 opponents you will deal dmg×4)and he doesn't need a healer so you can save the other slot for another good support like Bennet . And yelan has an amazing dmg amazing hydro application with a little bit of support so thats why its better to use her if your team needs a lot of hydro

Not that I ever look at abyss usage rates as a measure of how good a character is, but a lot of good characters get used a lot. Also, it obviously depends what you're trying to do, cause Furina isn't indisputably better than Yelan or Xingqiu in every case.

@@wekang1650 Furina hardly heals, and she does zero damage in her dedicated healing mode. Xingqiu has better defensive utility. Yelan is more consistent, not just in hydro app but also in damage per rotation. Oh, and you need a lot of healing to take full advantage of Furina's buff, on top of the fact that she actively kills your team and puts them in danger if you don't have a healer or defensive unit. It's a lot of trade-offs, and she's still really good, but there will always be times when you'd rather use Yelan or Xingqiu because you're not just trying to nuke something into orbit and minmax every instance of damage. It's also a lot less annoying to play those two over Furina.

Freminet is not so bad...decently built he is niche, not too niche. And he is good at exploring.

And also Chevreuse is too niche to be called super solid. Even if she's against bosses or heavy enemies, she's OK (good), but nothing insane. And Kazuha is almost always better.

@@Lucy-xg9rm Well, in her niche (against heavy enemies, preferably bosses), on a Raiden team - yes. But I'm not sure if he's worse than her in other overload teams. Maybe. Anyway, even if she's better, the difference is tiny, and building Chevreuse doesn't worth it, in my opinion, unless you're a speed runner or something.
Leaks about chiori say she will play around geo constructs. She summons a puppet that deals damage and can summon a couple of additional ones depending on geo constructs nearby.
Based on leaks, she's probably like Geo Keqing with Yae totem mechanics

Gaming needing C6 shouldn't be too much of a problem considering he's a 4 star. Xiangling for example is one of if not strongest DPS in the game but is a literal trash without C4 and Bennett.
Xianyun benefiting from Furina also shouldn't even be discussed as a potential issue considering both of them enables each other. Furina still has the problem that is she needs healer not only to survive but to reach maximum buff and Xianyun is one of the best healer in the game right now on top of the plunging mechanic and damage buffs.
HMC has a shield in his elemental skill when c4 or c6 but its trash.

Navia is what got me back into the game. I had quit genshin hell i didnt even know anything about new area or what ever but when i saw my cute sunglasses hat girl i was hooked. I came back as Furina banner was ending and i tried to get her because shes a archon instead got dehya so stopped playing for a little bit again came back to roll for navia and the gacha god shined upon me i got navia on first multi and i got her weapon 3 multis in after getting the story banner 5 star lance that has er and then bam multi 3 her weapon
it was a sign. She replaced my diluc and i havent looked back at all she so damn fun to use as the main dps on team
