as a teen porn/sex addict trying to quit, its very nice seeing people raise awareness for this type of thing. ive struggled with this since i was 7 years old, and once i opened up about it i was told that it was just teenage hormones. i’ve lost endless hours of my life watching porn. i lied and stole from my loved ones just to feed my addiction. i felt guilty at first but once someone told me that i was just being a normal teenager i stopped feeling bad and let it get even worse. its a terrible terrible thing that has ruined some of my most important relationships with both family and friends. it ruined me. BUT i have a new years resolution to completely cut any sort of inappropriate content out of my life and im currently 1 week clean already and im SO PROUD OF MYSELF and to anyone else struggling with porn/sex addiction i believe in you and i know you can stop. i love whoevers reading this and i hope you have an amazing day/night!!

The road has it ups and downs. Dont be mad when you slip, dont be mad when you relapse. It's a lifestyle. Dont be hard on yourself, take your time and find your purpose. Think of all the time you waste when you watch porn. All the energy you can put in yourself instead of masturbating. The more time watch porn, the more time your brain will need to heal. Find your purpose, limit social media time (its so easy to find triggers there) You are not afraid when you see bear on your screen, so why would you be aroused by naked women on the internet? Go out and live your life. You deserve love, happines and all that's good in life. I believe in you ♥️

This is so sad because “porn addiction” is not a real thing. It isn’t a real term used by professionals because it isn’t classified as such by the greater scientific community. It is on the same level as habitual addiction and habitual addiction can happen from anything that gives you dopamine that includes healthy things like working out or relieving sexual tension in yourself. That doesn’t mean someone can’t be addicted to porn but it isn’t on the level of actual chemical addiction. That means you HAVE TO be diagnosed AND it actually has to be taking you away from doing things normally. Then and only then is porn bad and the fact that they fail to mention this is extremely disturbing as there is large christian churches throwing huge sums of money into “spreading awareness” while making everyone think they are addicted cause they simply just watch porn and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Shame on this channel.

I’m a porn addict. I’m also addicted to masturbation and my 2024 resolution is to quit those bad habits altogether. I realized in order for somethings to happen in my life, the first step is to quit these two things and I kept escaping this truth, kept avoiding contents about porn addiction. I’m 23 next April and I don’t wanna be 30, 40, 50 etc and still be a masturbator and a porn addict. NO. So I’ve started now. I’ve made attempts to quit and the longest I went was 3 months because I was in boarding school. But I failed as soon as I was on vacation. In university, I try, but I fail after a month or sometimes, a couple weeks. But I’m growing and I need to leave those habits behind. I have started watching more contents about the truth behind porn addiction. I’m ready to face the truth and reality now. I have a calendar, I’m already 6 days into my recovery and I’m proud of myself. I tick the calendar with each successful day. I’ve started off with a 30 day challenge. Gradually, I’ll make it to a year. Quitting porn and masturbation I believe will make a huge difference in my life and I can’t wait.

I tend to hate admitting this but porn has definitely had a very negative impact on my social life. The guilt that I feel from knowing that I'm such a disgusting person tends to cloak my mind, and it gives me anxiety when trying to socialize. I feel like I can't connect to others, and I've grown to be extremely sensitive over anything. I can't talk very well and people often get a bad impression of me when I know I just have a hard time being "normal." I've had this problem since I was also super young, which is a shame. I thought nothing of it until I found about what porn addiction was when I was 14, I realized it was too late but due to using it as a coping mechanism for my struggles in life, I let it control me. I've made numerous attempts to stop but the impulse has become almost unbearable. Whenever I try to stop, the urges become extremely intense. I'm trying again now and I promised myself this would be my final attempt and I'm going to see it through. It's a shame and yet understandable that this is so looked down upon because it IS gross. It's an addiction like any other but most people are rather quick to call you "weak" and "pathetic" and to simply say "just stop touching yourself." Of course they wouldn't get it because they don't know how addiction must work, but it's the powerful urge to get that dopamine rush again and again. Here's to trying to improve once and for all guys. Keep looking forward.

Whenever you fail again my brother say this mantra to yourself until you dont fail.

I think you might be too judgmental of yourself. we know everything in excess isn't good. Like drugs, I don't think all kinds of porn are that bad for you (and like once in a while is ok). it's not disgusting, it's just human nature

    • @jen8299
      @jen8299 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@kejow.I don't think it's a good thing to say it's human nature. He just said that it's been negatively affecting his life. He's trying to quit for good because he can't stop anymore and it's affecting his mental health. Telling him to reduce gradually would be better.

    • @kejow.
      @kejow. ปีที่แล้ว +4

Aight first I misread and thought you were 14, so I said it was normal human nature/behavior because hormones at that age. and the way he talks about his experiences makes he sound like he's young.
From what he said, it seems what's affecting him negatively the most is the judgment he has upon himself because of his perception of what he thinks people think about him. And it concerned me how he phrased that he "promised myself this would be my final attempt". Like if he fails then what??? He's full of shame and guilt, with a bad image of himself and feels disgusting. That's such a bad combo. Bro you're not a bad person, you're none of the bad things you're thinking you are! You said yourself that porn has become a coping mechanism, because of what you feel after you use that coping mechanism. Like can you see that this vicious cycle needs to end? expressing your sexuality, when you're not hurting anyone, is not disgusting at all. you're valid! try not to be so harsh on yourself :( there's lots of ways to cope that are healthy. and if you're trying to stop, you actually need this being planned out. Like, that urge comes when? out of nowhere? does something triggers you? figuring that out will help. it's dumb but like if you're watching anime that has ecchi in it, that might trigger you, so you need to drop that anime. if you're in a discord server that has nsfw posts you gotta leave it lol

I really think it shaped how I view women and quitting it has been one of the hardest things I've done. I'm surprised to see how many people still deny that porn addiction is even a thing. started when I witnessed a r*pe when I was 9. Now I'm almost 9 months clean. This is the first time I've admitted it or even written it or said it out loud in so many years. This video made me admit to so many people in the comments about my addiction. Thank you so much for the links. To anyone that can't stop, whenever it comes into your mind, immediately find something to distract yourself with, like a hobby, or find someone to talk to, whether its about the addiction or just a general chat. I haven't told anyone yet, but I'm slowly telling my best friend and telling people you love feels good. Half of me hopes she sees this. Your childhood, teenagehood, or adulthood is not ruined or over by having this addiction. Everything can be fixed, everyone still has time left, and soon you won't even think about it, it'll be a distant memory. Lots of love to some of the only people who understand this pain, Luce.

I also believe that porn addiction leads to depression, especially if you're a virgin. I'm quite a sexually active person and sensitive to sexual tendencies, so when I was a virgin, it along with watching porn more often back then, I believe it had quite an impact on my depression. I was desperate for sex for a long time, and I used to get irritated and jealous whenever I saw a young couple together or two people showing a sexual chemistry with each other. It all used to make me feel I was ugly and useless. Now thank god I no longer have these problems. My girlfriend has been very understanding of me.
Also I was told by a family member that my cousin thought she was going to die from strangulation when she was having sex with her boyfriend at the time because her boyfriend watched a bit of porn. It's scary what it can do to some people.

In my case, I was exposed to yaoi as a young teenager and it's insane how I thought that this and erotica primarily written for women was normal. I was pretty sad, but then I got the idea to grab a razor and cut it across the belly to see what was inside. At this moment I felt bad and nervous about what I was doing, but I was full of curiosity. I removed all the organs from my Dalmatian and kept them in a glass jar to see and analyze in the future. My parents found out quite late about what I did and obviously weren't happy at all. I still can't believe I did this... it should be noted that I am not a psychopath, because I had feelings of sadness when doing this whole act, but I did it because I was aware that my dog would not feel pain

I’m over 3 months clean. Here are some tips:
    1) Delete any triggers (e.g. Instagram bot accounts.
    2) Tell someone! Someone has you back. Your amazing. They can also help block things to help further.
    3) Less screen time. Play outside, chat with friends, or draw. Take your mind away.
    4) If you think or see anything that is bad, inappropriate or that scares you, you can do two things. Tell someone or shut the lid of the device or close the tab and forget about it. P*rn has ruined me because it has simply put stress on me. It’s normal to be curious but think what you look like if you look back at yourself. Think about it for a second. Whenever you get triggered, simply close the device and do something else. If you’re addicted, try telling someone, if that doesn’t work or you can’t, tell your self or remember that it’s all a bunch of pixels, faked and put to please you. It doesn’t. It releases chemicals. Do something that actually pleases you, like playing outside. You’re amazing, have a great day, the world believes in you.

It messes with your brain in fundamental ways.

If u ever quit for a while and relapse NEVER give up to the chain effect of doing it all the time again and just KEEP TRYING and believe me u will make it whether it takes a month or a year you will succeed just keep trying and never give up.

Porn addiction destroys you from the inside out.
I was introduced to porn in elementary school. E l e m e n t a r y school. I'm not going to get into the details but I developed so many negative symptoms from it.
I became anxious, I objectified the women around me even as a girl at that young of an age. Suddenly I believed the older men in my life wanted ME FOR MY BODY! I was eight. I developed depression because I was so ashamed but couldn't stop.
I have struggled with porn ever since I was introduced to it. The longest I've gone without it is eight months, and that was three years ago.
I had to change my view on porn over time because being ashamed about it hasn't benefited me. Instead of counting the days I go without it, I don't think too deeply about it. I don't think of porn as this thing that destroys you (even though it does) so my whole life doesn't revolve around quitting it.
So because I'm not too focused on my addiction in general, its been much easier to go long periods without it.

I feel like what isn’t talked about as much either is the different KINDS of porn. I absolutely hate visual porn like videos or pictures, sometimes even audio, so I end up reading a lot of erotica (smut, as most might call it) but it still became an addiction, interfering with daily life, etc. I unfortunately fell into erotica at a young age, but it was never actually serious until the last year or two. The reason being was depressive episodes, where I would either sleep or lay on the couch on my phone for most of the day. I really hope there’s a way to get rid of that desensitization to it so I can actually enjoy sex acts again…

I’m thankful that you try to bring light to this side of the story. I’ve attended a seminar about violence against women once where a “specialist” spoke about children and how she is always so amazed that when asked to clay a penis, children always know how to produce a big, hard one. When I asked her about the possible influence of pornography on their development, she almost seemed insulted and claimed that there is absolutely NO influence from pornography on the mind and that it’s only “fantasy.” In another university lecture I attended, a professor made the same bold statement in front of 170 students. Talking about research that claim there is absolutely no connection between pornography and stress, loneliness, sexual violence and changing self-images. I then wrote a large essay on his forum that discredited that and asked him to at least nuance his claims. To which he agreed and said he would change his lectures for the year afterwards.
These events have made me realise that the more negative side of this industry (for both consumers and actors/actresses) is spoken about a lot less than you’d imagined. So to fill that gap, I’ve started giving lectures and presentations about my own struggle with pornography, how that was fed by trauma and the effects it has had on me. I also include how human trafficking plays a big role in the industry. The lectures have been a massive succes and I’m very proud to give such a personally positive twist to this whole story. So there can be good at the end of the road :)

As a man who has been addicted to internet for 20 years. Yes this is a huge thing. I wish it wasn’t. I have tried many things to stop. And honestly the best advice I can give, is to become a more healthy person. Sleep more, drink more, exercise more. Develop relationships, and bask in your support groups. Addictions need to be replaced and ask you self the question, what do you want?
Most porn addiction isn’t a I do this for fun gig. It’s more of a I do this for release, or I do this to feel good, and doing it for those reasons feeds in to the psychological stuff in this video. As the video says we rewire our brains to be this way, and our mentality brings us back. But if we do manage to become healthy (improving general mentality) we can stop and the brain will re wire itself. It wants to be healthy.
I haven’t beaten this addiction yet. I haven’t lost hope. And I hope you don’t either.
And yes you can hate the addiction. Just remember some of the people addicted don’t really want to be there either.

I think it also needs to be said if you look at porn that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re addicted.
Addiction is when your habit of something interferes your daily life. Choosing not to spend time with people so you can look at porn, looking at porn when it is inappropriate to do so, etc.
I felt so much shame as a teenager because I looked at porn, when in reality it was just something I did on occasion versus an addiction.
Knowing the difference is very important. You don’t need to shame yourself. If anything that’s just going to make you relapse again.

I love this channel and they do really great work, but I think this video is mostly terrible. I don’t think any serious mental health professional considers porn to be an addiction like drugs. You can become habituated to it, which probably isn’t ideal, but it just doesn’t create physical dependance. Maybe there is some new research, but every scientist I’ve ever heard has treated this idea with a huge amount of skepticism. There is a lot of shame around this in the US, but I would just ask yourself to what degree your habits are negatively affecting your life - this or anything else. If you’re using gaming to avoid dealing with problems, that’s not great. I have pretty serious anxiety too, and I think in most cases it’s highly treatable with CBT or similar and meds can be effective (they helped me). The vast majority of us are wired to need human connection, so we should always be doing what we can do to get better at connecting with people. But we are all also a work-in-progress so do what you have to do to cope.

We don't all have the energy or financial, temporal or social resources for dating. Some few of us go through our lives unloved and unwanted from day one to our last breaths. Please, don't sh!t on us. You're better than that.

Their is no healthy way to live with loneliness. Give God a chance. A real chance. You will see results in time. At the beggining you will think that God does not answer you but what you are perceiving as not answering is in fact the consequences of your sins. Their is a price for them. And suffering is the result. But that period will pass.
Second thing is to make yourself look as good as possible (get in shape, cool haircut, etc) .
For me the best way to counter the issues above is to disable my internet connection whenever I'm at my pc and be careful what games I'm playing. I hope my thoughts will help you. Many people succeed so there is hope.

@@joounobanken sex isn't by itself gross of course, but the oversexualisation of everything in our society absolutely is, and so is the way it is done, with a lot of disturbing and disgusting stuff. I'm talking about all the pоrn stuff. And yeah I would say it is gross that kids as little as 12 are already watching that stuff.

Porn addiction is expensive, but so is therapy - even more. Feels somewhat helpless to know many cant even think of therapy without some form of govt aid/funding. These free videos do save many lives.

I struggled with porn addiction for the better part of two decades. It disappated about 10 years ago (now I literally forget to look at porn, lol), but who knows how it affected my brain long-term. It definitely affected my relationships. It's like any other addiction: at its core it is a coping mechanism out of control.
I guess my one piece of advice for anyone struggling is: work to release the shame. Shame is what distorts your emotions, your decision-making, and your executive function.
IMO if you slip, the first thing you should do is reassure yourself, get others to reassure you, that you're not a bad person because of it, it's not a moral failing, and you are no less worthy of love. You must be accountable and accept the consequences, of course, but it's the shame that will send you back to those old habits.
PS, it never once occurred to me to talk to a doctor about my porn habit. I saw therapists and went to meetings, but never a doctor. The idea is kind of mind-blowing.

But it is a moral failing and we should feel shame for doing it. If shame is the natural feeling we should listen to it rather than repress it.
That said, don't dwell in that place. Get back up, dust yourself off metaphorically, repent, and keep going. THEN, don't listen to the shame anymore because we have no place for it anymore as the act is in the past.

@@davidm4566 no, no, and no. Addictions are out-of-control coping mechanisms. Nothing more. They hijack our brains and make us act irrationally. In these extreme cases your "natural feeling" keeps you trapped. Shame keeps you trapped. In the depths of an addictive spiral, shame does NOT motivate you to stop. It only impedes your cognitive ability. This might be counterintuitive for a lot of people in western culture, but in the healthcare and psychology fields, this is beyond debate. Your moralizing is not welcome here.

It is SO hard to quit porn. I've been addicted for over 12 years now, and i'm STILL addicted to watching at least 3 to 4 hours of porn a day and PMO-ing to them each time. Sometimes I would space them out in-between other stuff, but i've been watching far too much. And I have ADHD so my focus (Whether it be on quitting pornography or something else) often falters. Not to mention I have Bi-Polar disorder. How does someone with ADHD and Bi-Polar disorder, who recognizes that he's addicted to porn and wants to stop, actually QUIT watching porn?

Think you need some new hobbies to fill your time. Sounds like porn might be filling free time in between your main joy right now. But filling your time with stuff like reading, and exercising and a good hobby and friends and you will find your life filled with other stuff that isn’t porn.
I have ADHD as well. But sounds like your mind needs other stuff to focus on. You need passions and goals on your life. You need to work on you.

I’m no expert, but maybe lots of physical activity? That helps with my ADHD and discipline. Also, some hobbies and maybe more socializing can help. Can’t beat if you’re occupied.

I've been watching porn probably more than 12 years but started addicted to it maybe 8 years ago. In the last 2 years its been it worst time, now escaping 1 day was already great achievement. Watching the comments from the people who succeeds to stop, make me feel really weak. Now i don't know what to do, anxiety, insomnia, PTSD and depression also introvert personality made it even worse.

I like this video because it doesn’t degrade those who fall into it, but just lays out the truth of what’s gonna happen to you. Addiction is bad in all forms, but those tiktok gurus sure like to shame everyone that isn’t as strong as they are and claim that nofap is the secret to everything. Not to mention, they’re usually doing it for clout instead of real concern for their audience.
