This channel is so ridiculously awesome isn't not even funny. It should have 100,000+ subscribers minimum. Thanks, guys for another awesome video. Peace from Tennessee.
In the California Delta the Hilton Family puts on a great fire works show for Independence Day. Boats start to show up a week in advance, 4000 to 7000 boats anchored and rafted. Absolute chaos, we opt to anchor one slough over with a mere 10 to 15 boats. Wow that’s a great view and lots of fun.
We gave a 94 Ocean Alexander 486 Classico name is Honalee. Will be heading down to the Keys in December from Bradenton/Palmetto. Question... thought I read that you have to anchor in 40’ on sand or pickup a bouy in the Keys? Just found your site and videos, am enjoying all that you share, learning a lot!
Beautiful boat and great name! So glad you found us and thanks for the kind words. We have never heard of those kinds of general anchoring restrictions in the Keys - perhaps that is specific to a certain area like a national park. We are always careful to anchor in sand so to avoid damaging sea grass. Please feel free to reach out anytime - email is best at ahoy@myoloh.com. We hope to see you out there!
Here we go again, another great episode. I’m a sailor at heart and former professional but I enjoy peeking into the life on the other side. It’s easy to watch. You two, and first mate Jasper of course, are more professional boat people than many of the professionals out there.
Thanks Cathryn - you are too kind. And it's OK to spend a little time on "the dark side." We have a lot of fun as you can tell, but we take the boating piece of things very seriously. Especially Jasper 😎
It's such a treat to boat in water like that. And it makes it easier for our Safety Supervisor to see what evil lurks below the surface😁. Cheers Jerry!
OH I Miss that beautiful blue water!! I could move there in a heartbeat. We visit for a month in April before my husband's busy fishing season begins here in Maine. Thanks for Sharing!!
Thanks Scimi! As the boats in our life got bigger, the day trips that made up all of our previous boating life seemed to get fewer and further between. No complaints, of course, but it's nice to revisit that once and a while. Cheers!
The Ocean Alexander is such a beauty. 😍 But I would prefer classical shaft drives. Yeah it's always a problem to lay in a package with bigger yachts. Even if it's dead calm, the swell of other boats can cause damage. I could not sleep then. Jasper is awesome 🤣🐶
It is a beautiful boat for sure. Captain John also later realized that he had disengaged his stabilizers which would have mitigated the rocking a bit once we were rafted but we wouldn't have wanted to rely on that to keep us from knocking in any event. Lesson learned and we hardly suffered as the day went on 😎 And Jasper thanks you!
I can certainly see why it's best (and legal) to leave the drinks to the dock. You need to be on your game, as there's just too much going on when underway on the water. Heck, they taste better when you are stopped with no worries anyway. Cheers!
We raft our 58’ cruisers to a Princess 65 fly on a cove in Lake Michigan often. The princess has a seakeeper so she doesn’t roll. We have pretty wide gunwales so the superstructure doesn’t get close even if we roll a little.
That's great. We had thought to engage the zero speed stabilizers on the OA but weren't keen on relying on the technology given how close the superstructures were. Wouldn't have been worth it if it failed to prevent an avoidable situation.
Appears Jasper was a little jealous of all the water action!! Did he finally jump in? Looks like a great time had by all. Ocean Alexander is a truly beautiful vessel...exceptional lines. Thanks for a great video...love seeing you guys back "on the air!"
Thanks George! Fortunately Jasper will not jump into water - only walk. It did limit his water time on this outing but we lowered the "teak beach" on the OA for a bit so he could get wet. It is a beautiful boat, one of the few in its class we would consider if we were to ever to go to something newer. Cheers!
Nice to see responsible adults not partaking while operating a boat. Too many people think that because it's a boat and not a car it's ok to get hammered.
Hey guys Thanks for the video Looked like fun Pretty impressive to see a 70’ yacht rocking back and forth so close to an other yacht … but not as impressive as Tim’s Rocna dance 😜 Question if I may…. I’m always surprised to see you guys or other yachts navigating on the ocean with the clear plastics protectors on..I’d figure on a nice day in Florida at 6 knots you’d take them off while on the fly bridge to feel the breeze… but rarely the case Why’s that? Thanks Bonne journée André
Thanks André. Great question about our clears. We would love to take them down on days like that and we know from having had them down before for repairs that the boat looks great without them up. Truth is it's a major PIA to do. The seams are also a bit delicate at this point (we're looking forward to replacing them when we get around to it) and we know that removing and reinstalling them would cause some tears so it's better to just leave them be for now. Fortunately our center clear does roll up easily and we usually do that on nice days on the water. More importantly - we're so glad you enjoyed Tim's dance 😄 Cheers!
Thanks so much Robert! It's hard to beat that warm, clear water. Despite the temps it certainly looks like the Caledonian Canal is a beautiful place to live. Cheers!
Thought from a non-boater. How about stern to stern using each boats anchor as a forward spring line? Have maybe 10 feet separation and use a RIB as a floating bridge way pulled between the boats? Sterns could be loosely made together with dock lines to keep them from swinging apart. I guess that means one boat would be stern to the wind…
Great thought Fred and you do occasionally see large yachts in this configuration. Unfortunately there are just too many variables with wind and current and setting it up so people (and pups) could pass safely between boats, which is the primary purpose of the raft-up, at least for us.
@@OLOH …and I was thinking of your friends boat inability to secure their anchor as I typed that idea. Kinda risky with 50-100 thousand pounds of boat. Thank you for your response.
Midway through the vlog, I was just about to unsubscribe when you said you weren't going to have cocktails. But thankfully you did at the end. Don't scare me like that again.
Raft ups are hard to do even on the lake where I boat. Love the Keys with the clear water. Key West is an awesome dive destination. When I saw that clear water I was hoping one of you was a diver and took advantage of the clear water. Great video!
That Ocean ALexander was built in Merrit Island Florida !! What boat number was it ?? is it an Octiplex system ?? Hope you are still having fun with it. I enjoyed building it !!
6 kts ?? That is our cruising speed 😄😃😀😁 8 -9 kts is our maximum. 🤣😁 That anchorage looks amazing, it is when you realize boating beats working and being out in the rat race.
Hey Bruce - it's from Amazon, of course. Search for nautical dog collars and you'll find quite a selection. He particularly seems to like this one. Cheers!
Same in the states but people obviously do it all the time. For us, there is just way too much responsibility to even consider it. And it's certainly a worthy sacrifice for a great day like that. More videos on the way!
Hey Tim, AJ, big fan, you got me hooked. So question, how do you go about plotting your course especially when you can't see land. i have only seen one mention of a course 260. I also watched the episode when you recalculated the compass, going around in circles. After coming out of the circles, how did you know which way to face or which direction to go ? P.S. I live just up the Hudson in Albany NY.
Hey Charles - thanks for the kind words and nice to hear from a fellow upstate New Yorker. We typically plot our courses on an iPad and that information is shared with our multifunction displays (chartplotters). Between our on-board electronics and compasses, we always know which direction we're facing and where we should be heading 😎 Hope that answers your question!
Well, we went to the original and additional footage and while we wish we had something more exciting to report, it appears to simply be a swimming pelican 😎

We really appreciate that!

Man, that water looked shallow, it was so clear. Glad to see OLOH back and Safety supervisor Jasper on the job.
Thanks for the video.

Great video! That water looked amazing! Seriously the best channel!!!
Thanks Robby! We're so glad you enjoyed it.
Looks like a lot of fun. Cheers!
And cheers to you!
Man, this is the LIFE!!! This is why you get a yacht. I guess you all had fun and made memories.
Exactly right. And we don't take it for granted for a second.
Nothing wrong with a wee day excursion, I do them a lot here. Nice one guys, love love love Jasper and Oloh ofcourse ❤

OLOH and TheThree B's what fun. Loved the water!😍😍
So much fun! Thanks Donna.
Good to see yo guys back. Great video of the clear blue waters of the Keys, makes you wanna be there. Cheers
Thanks Michael. Yeah, that water is just unbelievable. Cheers to you!

I am really hoping that live-aboard life is in our future!!
Amazing video as always, so crazy to see both huge boats rocking in the calm like that. Sorry it didn’t work out but still seemed like a great day!
Indeed it was! Thanks so much for watching.
You guys are living the dream. Keep the videos coming
Nice to see responsible adults not partaking while operating a boat. Too many people think that because it's a boat and not a car it's ok to get hammered.
Thanks Jordan. We do have a good time but we take it all very seriously, as is appropriate given the level of responsibility involved.

love your adventures. we are liveaboards on the Caledonian Canal in Scotland so the water temperature is somewhat colder here :(

Had a grouper burger once when we were at Hallandale. Best fish sandwich I ever tasted.

I can’t believe the animal neglect at 14.30! Jasper walked by and did not get scritches or a pet. Surely important things like docking can wait 😂
Silly us 😄
Midway through the vlog, I was just about to unsubscribe when you said you weren't going to have cocktails. But thankfully you did at the end. Don't scare me like that again.

Like the Soggy Dollar hat !
JVD in the BVI is one of our favorites!
Gotta say,she is a beautiful yacht.
I wish the water where I’m at was that clear. You can’t see bottom in 3 foot of water where I’m at.
Where did you get Jasper’s collar? Love it!
Hey Bruce - it's from Amazon, of course. Search for nautical dog collars and you'll find quite a selection. He particularly seems to like this one. Cheers!
@@OLOH Found it! Thanks! Hope Willie looks as good in it as Jasper. Keep the videos coming!
Love Jasper ❤
It's a tough life, but, somebody has to do it, right?
We suppose. I guess we'll just have to keep at it 😄
In Canada you can not drink and drive just like in a car. Glad to see you both on the water again. Mist your videos.

Looks like the bigger boats was rockin, were the stabilizers being used or not when rafting?

Hi guys.. random question. Was your boat the Summer Wind when you found it?
Hey Steve - she was indeed the Summer Wind. We have since heard from the owner's son who found our channel. Did you know her? Any good stories?
So how long are u guys down there for? Are headed back to ny anytime soon?
Doesn't look like we'll have OLOH back north before next spring.
At 15:39 there is something in the water at about 1:00, 100 to 200 yards out. Any idea what that is?
Well, we went to the original and additional footage and while we wish we had something more exciting to report, it appears to simply be a swimming pelican 😎
@@OLOH Thanks, I was hoping it was something exciting like a Kraken or something!
Fun
You both rock!🏳️🌈

Ooh
You guys all need a seakeeper.
