The world needs more songs like this. Songs that tell us that love doesn't have to be this overwhelming, larger-than-life thing because honestly, most of the time it isn't. Love is being comfortable, it's feeling at home and knowing that there's someone who's got your back, but it's also arguing and rolling your eyes and fighting over the bathroom in the morning. Love can be really really mundane sometimes, and that's ok. That's what people need to learn.

I appreciate how we not only have a great musical hook, but much of the lyrics highlights aspects of healthy relationships that are not often found in songs. While that moment of new love and feeling out of control and idolizing someone as our "one and only" feels good, choices will last longer than feelings.
And with the right one, those over the top feelings will always be there, they'll come naturally. But, there will also be moments of just...comfort. Sure, that excitement and over the top love is still there, but the knowledge that it goes both ways provides a sense of security and makes you understand "this person feels like home." And of course, there will always be fights and stuff, here and there. But, with the type of love that lasts because you've both made up your mind to make it last, those issues are nothing to worry about.

That is a far cry from the "you'll do" in this song. It is still love, but a more meaningful love, one that cares about the person.
This song says "I was not looking for everything", and you are not my everything, so I will give you space. But it also says "I love you".
And that is the important part. "Better than nothing" is not love, that is desperation, that is looking for the romantic mirage and the outside trappings of love.
You deserve a relationship.
When I was younger I used to say "nobody deserves love", because I though love was all that hapy giddiness I felt around a few certain ones (not requited unfortunately). But I also knew no one deserves to go unloved, because that loneliness is terrible.
