- Who would win in a fight between Pit from Kid Icarus and Samus from Metroid? Today we break down all of their abilities and have an animated battle to figure out the answer. Smash Bracket is an animated Vs Battle series created by InkThinks dedicated to answering the question... Who is canonically the strongest character in Super Smash Bros. History?

I like the fact that Samus only fight Pit because she doesn't want him to die to Ridney. Also I like how she checks him pulse to may sure he breathing and she didn't accidentally kill him.

I love that Detail. Samus may be a cold and isolated Bounty Hunter, who is brooding in comparison to other Nintendo heroes, but her heart's still in the right place. She spared Pit's life instead of tearing him apart like what Ridley would have done.
And now Pit and Ridley have a chance to fight each other in the loser bracket, woops?

What I was trying to say last time is the reverse (an insult to Smash Bracket for comparing them to Death Battle) and I’m sorry for botching it 😓
TL;DR: I was insulting Death Battle in a way that erroneously sounded like an accusation of the opposite.

The fact that Samus only fights Pit so he doesn’t get eradicated by Ridley (well, from what she sees, I’m sure it wouldn’t be TOO much of a stomp.) was actually really cool and kind of her, so it’s more a pity fight than an actual full on fight.
What’s funny is that pit would absolutely murder ridley though

To be fair, asides from Palutena, almost all gods hate or have disdain for humanity in the games. There's only Dyntos, who likely doesn't care, and Hades who's... well he's freaking Hades.
I like that the animation had characterization, but didn’t sacrifice the fight for it. Both of them got in enough hits to make it seem like it wasn’t one-sided (like Link vs Ridley II) and the action didn’t stop constantly for character beats (like Wolf vs Incineroar). This was definitely one of the better episodes.

@@greenrandall143 ridley was getting his shit kicked in 70% of that fight till link followed in to the sky where ridley hit his loftwing but not link, then got beaten down by link in his giant form before finally getting some hits off till they reached the village, where link then uses his gear to kill ridley, it wasn't back and fourth making you think either could win. It was watching link bully ridley till ridley finally got some good hits in before dying.
Absolutely in tears over this. Beautiful. Honored the characters so well, especially since its so hard to get them right. ESPECIALLY pit. Genuinely amazing. Amazing job to the voice actors too. Best Pit impression ive ever heard.

It's the small touches that add so much to the fight.
The dirt and dust building up on the characters, both offering a single chance of surrender while at the advantage, followed by that standoff after their suits are broken where both fighters clearly understand that there will be no surrender...
Pit's comical banter and dramatic speeches, Viridi's supportive sass, Samus' one badass line.
And yes, the adorably sad Pichu cameo, with Dark Samus and Dark Pit setting off for their own fight.

I was really hoping my boy Pit would pull through but oh well... Hopefully Dark Pit will be able to get revenge on Dark Samus when they eventually fight. But regardless this was a very fun watch, the 3D animations from you guys just keep improving! I didn't expect RacoonBro to be in the analysis, but it was a welcome surprise. Overall, this is a great episode and I'm excited to see Villager take on Alex.
Dark Pit’s probably gonna die, unless he gets teleported out before the final blow is dealt. Samus doesn’t kill unless ness-sary but Dark Samus will be fighting to kill.

Doubt it. Dark Samus is Samus’ equal in physical stats. And while her arsenal is less versatile than Samus, it is still pretty wide and can keep Pittoo on the back foot. Lastly…
PHAZON IS BULLSHIT! Even with invincibility, healing, and status cleansing powers, there is NO WAY Dark Pit can last long enough before succumbing to a fatal case of space cancer.
Honestly, I think Dark Samus is going to make it more than halfway through the bracket on Phazon poisoning alone.

The irony in this is Pit actually fought Ridley in the Smash Bros. Cutscene

I love how both characters were portrayed here. Pit was giving it all he got cuz' that's how he is, as heroic as clumsy, while Samus not only didn't want him to be brutally murdered by the second most unwilling-to-die being she knows aside from herself, but becomes crystal clear that she totally held back when she checked his pulse. I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't attack that much because she's going to battle other people soon, and she has to save some of her limited ammo for then. Missiles, super-missiles, even power bombs can be clutch against other more infuriating opponents.
This might be one of the best Smash Bracket episodes of all time, it tells a good story, it has good characterization and has a very good animation with very good graphics. Kudos to the Smash Bracket team!

This was absolutely amazing. The quality is so far above Death Battle in both animation and analysis that you definitely deserve to have their spot.

This has to be my favorite fight so far, everyone, especially the animation team and writers, knocked it out of the park. Loved the dynamic between the two characters, and every scene was super tense. Excellent work. Time to catch up on everything else I’ve been missing.

Finally got around to watching this. While it's unfortunate that Pit won't be moving on as I like his personality, but the animation was so sick that I'm alright with it. My new favorite smash bracket, here's to bigger things in 2023!

How do you guys keep on topping yourself. Rosa vs Robin is one of my favorite vs. episodes ever even putting aside my bias for Robin. But this probably topped it. The voice acting, the animation, and oh so many things make this episode phenomenal. Another easy 10/10. If the team continue like this bigger vs. shows are going to have competition.
Also hyped for Alex vs. Villager, but I'm definitely most excited to see how they use their kits. They have super wide arsenals that can be delved into. If this ends up having as many weapons as the last two fights I will be so happy. Alex ftw btw.
Also I'm a huge fan of RacconBroVA so it was really cool seeing him on.

Their characters shone through really well in this one, and the fight almost had me second guessing that Samus would stomp with how even it seemed. Nice going.
It really looked like it's just a handful of people leaving messages like that, I can understand being upset to see them but it's a small part of your viewerbase and not worth validating this much. Plenty of people love your videos and recognize how much care goes into them, even when there are ways they could be improved. I hope stuff like this doesn't discourage you from taking genuine criticism to heart, because there are people who talk from a place of wanting the series to be even better.

That was a really clean fight and I was super surprised at the outcome, I thought it was a Pit W for sure. I now have a newfound fear of Samus since that speed calculation is downright terrifying, the 3D models were really good, the voice acting was great, the characterization and writing was excellent, the fight animation didn’t feel super one sided at any point, the buildup to the fight was great, the use of each character’s abilities was also really well done, and all in all the animation felt like it fit into the overarching “Smash Bracket Cinematic Universe” that you’re making here. Very well done, this was an excellent vs battle! Please let Samus not fight anyone I care about next time…
If Pit had an ice ability, Samus would have been far too vulnerable after her Gravity suit got destroyed. As of Metroid Fusion, Samus is part Metroid and has an extreme weakness to cold temperatures outside of her Gravity Suit.
Honestly, I can see Pit easily taking it if he had ice weaponry or attacks, and I say that as a huge Metroid fan. Even with the gravity suit, we know she takes massive damage from ice as proven by Fusion
Both samus and pit are God tier characters in the smash franchise. I'm actually surprised to see Samus' super bombs, screw attack (nearly invincible), and shine spark not used. At least shine spark was mentioned. But with all due honesty both these characters could definitely compete in the highest levels of the bracket and are probably top 5. So much history, upgrades and content to pull from. Absolutely loved this video I wish it could've kept going much longer. I didn't want it to end
I wouldn't say top 5. but she is up there. I think Shulk, Pyra and Mythra (mostly as Pnuma.), Joker, Sephiroth, and Cloud could all beat her more often then not.
@dbfan199 That and Dark Samus is basically a better version of Samus given her Phazon hax combined with being faster than Samus and having direct speed feats that surpass the lowball Smash Bracket gave Samus. Obviously, Dark Pit is dead, especially considering Dark Samus wouldn't care to spare him from the start, but honestly I can see Dark Samus getting up to characters like Shulk who could just cancel out her power and erase her, but she could beat almost anything before that

I agree with the outcome but not the stats.
Samus’s hax are far greater than pit’s while raw stats go to pit.
They used still shots in mangas and death battle tier logic to put samus way above what’s actually shown which is a huge no no in real powerscaling.
That said, some of samus’s hax abilities can instantly kill pit and pits hax are either actually palutena’s powers or from an uncanon multiplayer vs mode.
Best episode so far, I was kept guessing throughout the entire thing

Super glad to see that this turned out so well. As usual, the team did an absolutely fantastic job. Y'all keep killing it on the Metroid episodes and I love it, especially in the characterization department. That was knocked out of the park in Link vs. Ridley, and it was again here. Samus protecting Pichu is a wonderful callback to Subspace. I love them both giving their opponent a chance to surrender, and how they both just deny it out of sheer determination. Samus deciding to take the fight so he wouldn't have to go after Ridley is wonderful, too. What a banger of an episode.

Samus is hands down my favorite video game character of all time. Great video, expected the outcome, but enjoyed it nonetheless.
You know, I’m happy with this result. I’m glad that Pit was given access to all of his options, feats, and skills. This was a really sick and pretty dang accurate fight. It was definitely really close.

This is the best one they've made so far, I'm gonna be honest and say all the ones that came before didn't really do it for me because of the lack of sound effects and music and writing but this one really made me get pretty hyped still a great series I love watching these and I hope they will be remaking the videos that came before because I think they have way more potential.

my gosh. the goal to create the ultimate vs battle was definitely reached. this is my new favorite episode due to this awesome matchup. it has so much chemistry when it comes to how close they are, how they relate, and personalities. I'm counting down the days for the next one because that animation was so gosh darn cool. Jayson Vasquez can eat his heart out on this one.
I can't believe I forgot about you guys, I haven't watched these videos in a few months, I'm so glad I found you guys again.
I like how the whole Metroid DNA wasn't mentioned as part of Samus's ability when you show clips of Metroid dread and that has the ability to drain energy so it doesn't change much in the fight bc knowing Samus she wouldn't use it against Pit bc of how fast the fight would be if she were to use it.
Additionally, she was just concerned for Pit, whereas the Metroid Suit is a product of pure rage.
Smash Bracket might be saving that for her analysis in a later match, probably one where she won't have any reservations about killing her opponent.
Samus wouldn't use all her power agains a 13 year old with wings lmao
But Metroids drain normal energy. Who knows what would happen with divine energy.
I like it more that I thought! And the animation and choreography in the battle was very good!
Also, I liked specially the fact that there's some kind of reason to fight in the first place and that it didn't end with a bloody kill, like in Death Battle (I'm really tired of that show )
Ok, that was a pretty good fight. Honestly, my favorite of the 3d battles.
I really liked the contrast of Pit being far more talkative and silly to Samus being more serious and much quieter and I like all the moves and weapons the two used to fight each other.
I also gotta give props to the actress who voiced Viridi. I think she nailed it.
The only major complaint I have is that it would have been cool to see the 3 sacred treasures used in the fight. Though it was pretty cool to see zero suit samus used in a way that still makes sense in the fight.

Really liked the video it was fun to watch and very entertaining. Although I do have a question Will you be using the Mario and Luigi series for the analysis for Luigis overall power when he has to go into a versus debate. Because trust me there is a lot of stuff in those five games.
This was incredible. The animation was amazing, seeing the sheer respect for these two was great, and I loved seeing Raccoonbro’s cameo too. You’re easily one of the most consistently awesome VS shows on the web, and maybe my favorite.
As for the next time, I’m betting Alex is going to take this since Animal Crossing is way less combat-centric than Minecraft.

Yet once again truly beautiful animation, fun voice acting, and very deep character analysis and research. Personally I like the pairings you guys do cuz you're going by the game's roster which only gives you so much to work with but there's still plenty of characters with plenty of things in common anyway.
I think it's also cool that even though it's probably not a big deal, Samus did get some bonus training from her time in the galactic federation military and she even combine some of their tech with her gunship at one point The Best of both worlds I suppose.

There are MANY instances in fiction where people are sent to the underworld while still alive.
For example, many Marvel characters have been in Mephisto’s Realm, which is a Hell Dimension. Like Thor, Spider-Man, Dr. Doom, the Avengers, etc.

I don't wanna compare you guys to DEATHBATTLE because you guys are clearly your own thing. But I honestly feel like I actually know more about both characters now! You guys did a really good job delving into their equipment and their stories, like I didn't even know Pit had a mech, its great stuff like that which make me watch analysis. also the characterization in the animation is also *chefs kiss*, big fan of the fact that this one didn't end in a kill.
Honestly I think death battle and Smash bracket has positives and negatives, but I overall prefer Smash bracket's animation and characterization.

I’m a bit confused on Samus’ speed feat with the running to the back of the ship and firing thing? I don’t think an exact time frame for it was ever mentioned, so what makes it a speed feat? They mention the ship as light speed or faster, but I don’t see how the speed of the ship relates to how fast Samus can run to the back of the ship and fire. Could someone explain it to me cause I feel like I’m missing something obvious?
Samus' ship was at max speed aka lightspeed when the enemy was shooting at her so she had to run to the back of the ship, get out, kill the guy, and run back to the console to stay on course all while the ship was still going lightspeed.

This was a pretty solid episode! I wonder how both of Pit’s and Samus’ arsenal compares with Link’s and MegaMan’s as I kinda noticed how each one of them has a way to completely replenish their health/arsenal mid battle, which most of the other fighters don’t have an answer to.

It’s interesting how different the stats of characters are depending the video analyzing them. For example many would actually put Samus at a much faster speed than displayed in the video, and many would put her slower as well. It kinda goes to show how subjective VS debating tends to be.
This, however I'd like to point out they admit the speed in the video is a low ball. In a black box and I paraphrase, "This is a low end number assuming Samus ship's max speed is the speed of light, likely much lower then what would be required to navigate the cluster of 5 galaxies." @31:26
@DBfan Considering Joey didn't age visibly during the charting, that's... pretty explicitly at least a billion times the speed of light, and most likely FAR higher. Samus is blatantly MFTL with this scaling

I saw Dread Samus. If she looses with that I'm confused. It's as good as it gets before getting into the "God" crew. Maybe Mewtwo could stand a chance.

Man, this was so rigged! The Great Sacred Treasure held up in a fight against the angry God of the Underworld! Here’s hoping Pittoo comes through for us angels. Also, I would *never* mispronounce Lady Palutena’s name like that.

Amazingly animated.
This has been my favorite fight so far. The animation was so clean and polished, it removed every "flaw" I noticed in Link vs Ridley. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Plus it was very on character. I was very excited to see Samus (Who I main along with ZSS in SSBU, and I love Metroid) in one of these battles, I was a bit concerned that she wouldn't be able to take on Pit though.
Really nice animation, I hope we can see the metroid suit in the future with other upgrades
I honestly think that it would be funny that Samus's next opponent would be Pichu.

This is easily my favorite episode of smach bracket.
I just love the way you characterized both Samus and Pit.
The whole dynamic of her doing this to protect Pit is just lovely, really going hard on Samus mom mode, which is great.
And Pit, the dumbass he is, not listening and pushing on.
Now it makes perfect sense why you diden't mention the metroid dna, after all Samus diden't want to kill Pit.
The Animation itself was as always just great, you really improved and made a good flowing fight this time.
Samus looking around shocked after burning Pit and the takedown at the end was great, with Samus checking on Pit especially.
All in all, thank you for this gem of versus content.
And, be sure to take a break, sounds like all of you guys need it ^^;

wasn’t expecting this outcome, but i’m super happy for it! you have this talent of keeping on my toes. with the first run down, i always think “this can’t be topped. they win, surely.” and by the end of the second one i think “i have no clue.” there are exceptions of course, kirby is god and rob is a plastic robot- but overall, the writing for the breakdowns is topnotch
In terms of skill, samus is if John Wick underwent genetic modification
I liked the fight, but doesn't Pit have the feat where he keeps up with the space pirates' ships, travelling across star systems in the span of a single level?
That's with Palutena's Gift of Flight thing
I think they mentioned it, but also said that he doesn't have the closes range combat feats to back up it scaling to him.

Does Pit not know the amount of Missles Samus have? When it’s maxed out I mean. Plus she didn’t even use her super bombs on him except to escape. And Samus is just too war harden to get beaten so easily. Plus she could easily heal herself basically infinitely while Pit has limited heals. Also refill her endless missles.
I just realized not only is this an amazing matchup, it perfectly sets up dark samus vs dark pit
