I have test driven the Venza, RAV4 hybrid limited and the RAV4 Prime SE. I loved the way the RAV4 Prime drove so much better. Price hikes here for the Prime in Silicon Valley are crazy. I preferred the larger cargo area in the Rav4 limited and the visibility was much better than the Venza. My son noticed the road noise in the Venza too. Venza’s panoramic tinting window is cool, except for the fact it doesn’t open. Thanks for pointing out the lower head room in the back seat of the Venza! We both I definitely preferred both RAV4’s over the Venza. I don’t need the huge Sienna and am looking for something smaller. We purchased our Toyota’s, new, in 2006. I still love my van and it still runs great and in great overall condition. Have you heard of their hybrid battery going dead after not being driven for a few days or more? A neighbor recently purchased a new Toyota and her battery was dead after not driving it for 4 days. My husband noticed a new RAV4 Prime in the neighborhood, he plans to talk to the owner to see if he has experienced the same battery problem.
@@luvwynter I heard the neighbor had said he hasn't experienced any battery problems. He drives it daily, so it hasn't sat undriven that long. I ended up getting the Highlander Hybrid for the extra space. It has sat undriven for at least 3 days a few times and I haven't had any battery problems.
Super helpful. I’m older and prefer the sleeker Venza. I worry about the acceleration being less than the RAV4 when getting on the highway and hope that it does well in snow and in the mountains here in Colorado.
We bought a Blizzard Pearl White 2021 Toyota Venza LE Hybrid in February 2021 and We Totally Love It. You also said So yourself, Venza is a Lexus (Modern NX300h) for $8,000 LESS. ALSO Like the other famous TH-cam Car Reviewer 'Alex on Autos' said, The 2021 Venza is THE ULLTIMATE Luxury RAV4👍
When I was trying out the Venza before ordering one (done, waiting), I tried the back seat. I'm 6' and had no issue with headroom. fyi. As for engine noise when stepping on it, I like it! Lets me know there's a beast under the hood. Not a huge beast, but it's got some growl. When I test drove it (twice), not having seen the reviews commenting on engine noise, I didn't notice it. Periods of full on acceleration were brief anyway. And yeah, I'd like to have control knobs, but I'll adapt. I'm leasing mine so I'm not married to it. In a couple of years, I'll know a lot more about whether it's a longer term keeper.
Test drove both extensively. Despite the disadvantage of the Venza not being available in a Prime model for electric only operation, I liked the Venza a LOT more than the Rav4. I ended up buying my first new car in 18 years. Very happy with the Venza.
Venza prime with the ability to open the moon roof that would be epic...I have a 2017 xle rav 4 now was ready to make the switch to the prime xse till I seen the venza I will hold off for another year to see what they do with the next prime gens
Really a well done video, I enjoyed it. I’m a little bit older guy and I would go for the Venza. I think it would fit my needs quite well, I agree with you that a plug-in in would be a very good move for Toyota on this car.
Like both vehicles. Your Rav4 looks really good. Venza is nice, but small rear turn signal down so low should be moved up into regular taillight cluster.
@@kennethsmith6899 I have an older Caddy that I bought that was five years old with 19,500 miles for 15 k. 30k drop in five years, that belonged to a senior who died.. It was the first year of all the technology you see now. Love it! Would I buy a new Caddillac, absolutely not. Been doing a ton of research to buy my 16 year old an automobile that is built well, modern technology for safety, the perfect size, and great gas mileage. The Venza checks all the boxes. That's not to say we didn't look at everything out there, as well, including the Lexus dealership. The UX 200? Hybrid was as small, and non-functional as I thought it would be. We looked at the next model up, and yes it's nice, for even more money. I've run in all circles, and spending practices. There certainly are differences between cars and automobiles, and some folks spending way too much. The Toyota Venza is quality, and just luxurious enough feeling enough, without a higher based luxury branding, to be considered an automobile. Giving my daughter something nice for the long-term. I don't see us going to Europe, again, anytime soon, and I work too damn much to have a getaway by the water. This "car" should last for years, and look good at the same time.
I'd stay with the RAV4 Hybrid for less money plus more rooms for cargo and rear passengers. It's just a great value and versatility for daily uses. Safety and tech has everything one needs.
Venza is nice looking and probably rides a lot smoother since it is closer to the ground but I prefer the Rav because it sits higher, has better visibility, and more cargo space for Costco runs or packing a large dog kennel.
These are both great investments which ever route you go. The venza exterior is gorgeous, it also has a nice interior, and overall I like the aesthetics of the venza over the rav, although the rav does come in the plug in option and that is awesome, also getting over 300 HP which again is crazy for a plug in hybrid of its class. I think the venza in a few years when they add/fix a few things in the interior, and add the plug in that the rav has, will be the best investment for a reliable car
@@wbae1340 If you use the definition of investment in fun, and enjoyment in life, why not? Most folks are currently curtailing trips to Europe, and the Venza seems like the perfect vehicle for long road trips to see this country, for those who haven't already, with their families. Investment can mean a couple of things.
I liked Rav4 more than Venza because Rav4 has more sportier and aggressive looking than Venza also I think with black rubber in the car’s sides gives the car more practically using and more dust and mud affordability
No one should ever complain about the noise that a four cylinder makes ( in any vehicle ) when you squash the accelerator pedal/ plant it, because, well, it's a four cylinder after all. It's all about what you want to pay, how you want to drive, and how you want to feel. I have an eight cylinder Caddy that normally gets 14 miles to the gallon, anything other than long distance road trips where it gets 23 miles to the gallon. I enjoy driving it. I've has sports cars and plenty of motorcycles. I could care less about paying for gas, tires and brakes. It's the last freedom left. What I hate are the nerds in their Prius' doing 55 in the left lanes, to achieve mileage. Those folks should be buried. That being said, I'm going to get my daughter a long term car, that is stylish, safe, just the right size, with all the safety features, that she doesn't have to keep paying at the pump. I'm going to get her a Venza. That's not to say, that I will still be giving her professional accident avoidance, and track lessons as well. Everyone should know how a vehicle operates, and performs.
The Venza fills a hole in Toytota's unibody midsize SUV lineup. Before its release only Mazda and Toyota among mainstream automakers failed to offer two vehicles in the huge midsize category. A group of smaller vehicles most ranging in size from about 187" to 192" in length (all of which except the KIA Sorento are 2 row vehicles) and a group of larger 3 row vehicles ranging from 195" to 204" long. With Toyota's Venza now available Mazda stands alone in not having two unibody SUVs in the midsize category. Toyota could have developed a wholly different model as an alternative to the Highlander. (e.g. Ford Edge vs Explorer; KIA Sorento vs the Telluride, Chevy Blazer vs Traverse etc.) Or they could have chopped a few inches off their existing larger vehicle and simply eliminated the rear row of seats. (e.g. Honda Passport vs Pilot; VW Cross Sport vs Atlas.) Toyota took a different path. They simply simply took an existing vehicle, the Harrier, rebadged and tweaked it slightly, limited the drive train to a hybrid option and called it a day. From Toyota's viewpoint an extremely economical way to solve their problem. While they were at it Toyota solved another problem. The looks (if not the capabilities) of the current generation RAV4 had evolved into a mini-4Runner. Very popular, of course, but not as appealing to those whose taste once ran toward traditional station wagons (even if they now disdain wagons) and whose priorities extended only as far as travel over a very occasional gravel road. So give the Venza a premium vibe combine to the RAV4's "adventurous" image. For consumers, especially empty nesters or families with a teen or two and unwilling or unable to consider a Lexus, the Venza provided a more affordable alternative. A Venza Prime? Certainly a possibility but I suspect that the pool of potential Venza customers who prioritize scalding performance may not be sufficient to support the offering. Time will tell.
The Venza definitely has a more Lexus vibe. Looks a bit feminine but smooth and luxurious. RAV-4 is just a Toyota. Both fine vehicles, but I think Venza brings a level of premium ness that RAV or even Highlander don’t.
I chose the Rav because I really didn’t like all the touch controls. Not having the knobs and dials are still a dealbreaker for me. Rode much nicer and was quieter too but I went with the Rav in the end.
I test drove the Venza 2 weeks ago. It was quite nice but the interior felt tighter than competition. Also the 360 camera was not as sharp as the Hyundai Santa fe
I purchased the 2021 Venza in October and am very happy. The 34k price tag can be negotiated down. We were able to get the limited trim vehical plus floor mats for 30k total. We looked at the rav 4 hybrid (fully loaded) as well but the cost came out closer to 40k. I agree the power train would be great in the Venza but personally I don't believe it's worth the additional cost. Just one opinion 😊
Lol that’s what I was thinking we just dropped 45k plus tax etc on one. Expensive yes but look at base level civics selling for 30k starting. Everything just an arm and a leg now
@@sparemethedramatics1629 sorry just saw this I'm also in California. The 40k for limited includes the "HUD" which isn't a feature offered in the west coast. Hence if you negotiate it right you can bring it down
The pricing is actually closer than it sounds since it’s eligible for the $7500 tax credit, which puts the Prime at about $42,500, the Venza is $42,125. Yeah, you have to pay the 50k up front, but that EV credit evens up the price field.
I agree that a Venza Prime would be great, but this video was not an apples-to-apples to comparison, especially since a lot of the remarks were about performance. A RAV4 Limited vs Venza Limited or XLE might have been more informative. The RAV4 front was a deal-breaker for me, and we have a 2018 Limited that was more to my taste.
Of course you prefer the Rav it's ur personal car 😂... The Venza will appeal to a lot of people. I personally like the Venza. I saw one on the road the other day and, I thought it was a jaguar or Lexus.
Agree that the Venza is very luxurious, but I can understand Sofyan’s preference of the RAV4 prime, and not just because it’s his personal vehicle. The RAV4 prime has a lot of nice features and advantages
RAV4 LE Hybrid all the way. Thousands of $$$ left in your pocket and much more utility. I hear Toyota is offering 6 buckets of fried chicken if you buy a RAV4 that was made in Kentucky!
@@kennethrosario6706 Toyota is trying to market its Hybrids as the Vegan option on the automotive menu, maybe a tie-up with Colonel Sanders sends the wrong message.
At least the Venza appears to smile. Unfortunately they chose to put clear plastic all across the upper grill, which will not age well, as plastic headlamps don't also. As for the Rav 4...a black roof is a totally impractical in vogue statement. Like your vehicle hot after it's been parked, you got it !
They definitely need to have a prime option for all their hybrid vehicles…. A Prime Sienna would be a winner. But without a Prime option, I will stick with Honda. And I can already see Honda using hybrid drivetrains to enhance the driving experience as well as fuel economy, similar to BMW’s Active Hybrid drivetrains, but with better fuel economy.
I would be interested in purchasing the Venza. But then I'm afraid it would disappear off the Market again, like it did in 2015. Also I'm not really liking the upper grill of the Venza, I wish they would have made it all one grill.
I like both vehicles. Wish the prime interior came in different colours. The RAV4 hybrid interior does come in other colours and with leather (according to Canada Toyota website). Turns out the 'leather' is actually Softex. Regardless, we went with the Venza. Love it!
While I don't hate SUVs, I am tired of seeing so many of them. I wish manufacturers would invest more in sedans but since all the money is in SUVs and crossovers it's not gonna happen.
I’m curious to know if anyone is getting more than 310 Miles per tank on the RAV4 2021?? When I first got the RAV4 it said 350 miles per tank. Now is just at 310 miles per tank. Edit: I let the RAV4 go all the way down to like 3 miles before empty and filled up all the way. Got 355 miles on the tank. I’ve noticed that driving on “Normal mode” is actually much better when using the heat and or AC. Than Eco mode.
At the cost of a smaller screen. If you're the type of buyer who does not care about having the biggest screen, that's fine. However, the bezel for the larger screen still remains which is just gloss black and not used for anything, something that drives me nuts. I'd have to go for the bigger screen so the real estate from the lesser models is actually used even if it sacrifices hard buttons and knobs.
For me, the RAV4 is overall better looking , if i wanted to choose which one to buy. But, with the same money or less, you can get the Camry Hybrid. It provides better space, better driving experience on the road, better fuel economy. The fashion with SUV'S doesn't touch me.
The Camry has more legroom but a tad less headroom though That said everything else I totally agree. I feel safer in a Camry than a rav4 due to its weight and stability But I’d probably be torn with the XSE in either the hybrid or the v6
@@SilverIndian Honestly the hybrid model is more than perfect for American roads.. is more effortless than the gas 4 cylinder and can give you Prius like MPGs. Especially on long road trips!!
I actually just purchased a RAV4 Hybrid after my 2022 Tucson was totaled as a result of a botched hail repair job (water entered the cabin every time it rained). I looked at the Venza as well, naturally. From my honest opinion, the Venza is not worth it *at all*. The cargo area is notably smaller than the RAV4 and the rear passenger space isn't as airy as well. The fuel economy and performance are basically the same, but the price on the Venza is much higher. Options and features are much more stingily placed in the Venza. The final straw for me was the dashboards. The RAV4 has a thickly padded portion on the very top, and the more expensive Venza's is hard plastic. Not what is supposed to happen.
Hello, I really enjoyed your presentation on the two cars but I am definitely getting the RAV4 Prime...please can you give me the full specs of this your own prime with all the added features u got for it so I can used same at the dealer when getting my....Awaiting your kind response, Many Thanks

Did you talk to the neighbor yet?
@@luvwynter I heard the neighbor had said he hasn't experienced any battery problems. He drives it daily, so it hasn't sat undriven that long. I ended up getting the Highlander Hybrid for the extra space. It has sat undriven for at least 3 days a few times and I haven't had any battery problems.
@@siliconvalleymom901 thank you!
Probably left the light on without realizing it. There's no other reason the battery would be dead after a few days.
How do you feel about the rear blinkers ? Do you think drivers can easily recognize ? That's the primary concern about Venza
@@Ilovecomedy7 I have seen the rear blinkers on a few Venzas now, and I think they're a bit small and low, but plenty visible.
I would definitely choose venza if not for the bottom placement of rear turn signals. They need to be placed higher for better visibility.
Wow the venza is beautiful, I'd definitely pay more for it
If they're basically on the same platform, I hope they make a Venza Prime. That's what I would go for
I'm waiting just for that TBH-would be epic tbh
Venza prime with the ability to open the moon roof that would be epic...I have a 2017 xle rav 4 now was ready to make the switch to the prime xse till I seen the venza I will hold off for another year to see what they do with the next prime gens
Really a well done video, I enjoyed it. I’m a little bit older guy and I would go for the Venza. I think it would fit my needs quite well, I agree with you that a plug-in in would be a very good move for Toyota on this car.
The more choices for the buyer the better.
Like both vehicles. Your Rav4 looks really good. Venza is nice, but small rear turn signal down so low should be moved up into regular taillight cluster.
Yup chances go up that you’ll get rear ended by the people who drive lifted trucks and don’t pay attention.
It’s something about DOT regs that they can’t place them on the lift gate. Seeing that on some other vehicles but they are super bright.
I saw the new venza on the road and man.... that was a nice SUV. I actually thought it was a Lexus 😳
I walked out of my health club and started to get in my Venza and realized I had walked up to a Lexus. They truly are a budget Lexus.
@@powerguymark Toyota’s are very nice cars. I hate when people say that budget stuff. Anything over 30k isn’t budget friendly.
Just picked up a Venza. We got the last one at the dealer. They are more Lexus like than the RAV4.
I'd stay with the RAV4 Hybrid for less money plus more rooms for cargo and rear passengers. It's just a great value and versatility for daily uses. I've a '15 Rav4 LE currently and can carry 8' long 2x4 easily and no need for a truck. And i've been waiting for great deal for next upgrade to Rav4 Hybrid or Prime. Good review Sofyan.
Well said but I think the RAV4 Hybrid LE is already the great deal you have been waiting for.
@@rightlanehog3151 I mean for 2021 model may be wait till end of year...?
@@isferfun3909 They can't build RAV4 Hybrids fast enough to keep up with demand so an end of the year sale seems unlikely. The RAV4 Prime is back ordered until Doomsday. The good news is that you already have a fine car now so at least there is no rush to get a new one.
@@rightlanehog3151 yes, thanks and my rav4 has been on many road trips and never fail to get me back home. (Knock on wood 🪵)I guess keep on driving till I see a good deal somehow or sometime.

He said he is 5’7.
Thinking of buying a Venza. Thanks for the comparison, but would have been better without the Prime package. You said at the beginning that the Venza is about $4000 higher, but certainly not if you are looking at a RAV Prime.
The Rav4 = Stormtrooper, the Venza = Princess Leia.
Venza looks like a Cylon actually!! LoL!
Carrie Fisher, ugliest princess, ever, and possibly most over-rated acting ability. There, I said it after all these years. ;-)
I'm getting the Venza for my teenage daughter. It's slick and stylish for the money, build quality is great for a non- luxury brand, and she'll love the size and fantastic mileage. It will be a keeper for years. Safety and tech has everything one needs.
RAV4 looks more rugged which i like but the venza is more beautiful in aspect
🤔🤔🤔 rav--tom-boy???
🤔🤔🤔 venza--pretty-sister???

Just got the Venza Limited and it came with the heated windshield
WOW! that is some tech
Are you in Canada?
Thanks for the comparison. Excellent review. I’m caught between both. I think I’m going to go for the Venza😊😊😊😊😎.
Venza is nice looking and probably rides a lot smoother since it is closer to the ground but I prefer the Rav because it sits higher, has better visibility, and more cargo space for Costco runs or packing a large dog kennel.
If you check out the price points. Between Venza LE and Rav4 XLE Hybrid model with convenient pkg . It almost seems same.. I'd rather have Venza.
My Rav4 lease is ending soon. Will go for Venza👍
Does iPhone work better than a Samsung galaxy phone with the Venza?
These are both great investments which ever route you go. The venza exterior is gorgeous, it also has a nice interior, and overall I like the aesthetics of the venza over the rav, although the rav does come in the plug in option and that is awesome, also getting over 300 HP which again is crazy for a plug in hybrid of its class. I think the venza in a few years when they add/fix a few things in the interior, and add the plug in that the rav has, will be the best investment for a reliable car
Investment?
@@luperon lol what? Are you 12? A car is a investment hahaha
@@luvyesmusici4886 a car is a investment
I liked Rav4 more than Venza because Rav4 has more sportier and aggressive looking than Venza also I think with black rubber in the car’s sides gives the car more practically using and more dust and mud affordability
“It’s hard to judge the quietness when you have this screaming 4 cylinder engine”
It seems that you already did.
Great, and well thought out post. Thank you.
The Venza definitely has a more Lexus vibe. Looks a bit feminine but smooth and luxurious. RAV-4 is just a Toyota. Both fine vehicles, but I think Venza brings a level of premium ness that RAV or even Highlander don’t.
Thats because the Lexus RX was once a Toyota Harrier since Lexus didn’t exist in Japan at the time.
Why it will make the perfect long term vehicle for my daughter. She's worth it.
Redline finally did it, now I officially redline reads my mind! I knew it!!
I chose the Rav because I really didn’t like all the touch controls. Not having the knobs and dials are still a dealbreaker for me. Rode much nicer and was quieter too but I went with the Rav in the end.
Great review! I just sold my friend on the Venza. She traded in the Rav 4. Both are really nice!
What state are you in? In California the limited Venza is around 40k. I thought both these cars have the same power train no?
Much prefer the RAV4s exterior but the Venza has the better interior, in my opinion anyway.
@@eleanormassaro5195 good luck trying to buy one. Also if you live in a colder climate you won't get anywhere near the EV mileage Toyota claims.

I love that Toyota puts a real spare wheel and tire in Venza. Does RAV have a real wheel and spare in its hybrid?

True. I like the slightly more aggressive look to the RAV though. Inside of the Venza is pretty sweet though. Choices, choices...

I would pick the RAV4 because it’s has better cargo space, and more hp, and looks better for me
Very nice and informative review! 5/5!
I hope they offer the Venza as a plug-in!
I don’t think they will but the Lexus nx might !
I wonder if the models of Venza with stargazer roof let in more road noise?
Is 2021 venza quieter than the 2021 rav4 hybrid??
The Venza 100%. It’s made in Japan.
hows the wind noise between the two?
I hands down prefer the Venza but that is because the things I’m looking for are offered on the Venza. Both vehicles are nice!
I would be interested in purchasing the Venza. But then I'm afraid it would disappear off the Market again, like it did in 2015. Also I'm not really liking the upper grill of the Venza, I wish they would have made it all one grill.
I will prefer the RAV4 over the Venza!
Why is the venza rear turn signal below the bumper. It looks cheap. Put it a horizontal LED bar below the brake light.
I like both vehicles. Wish the prime interior came in different colours. The RAV4 hybrid interior does come in other colours and with leather (according to Canada Toyota website). Turns out the 'leather' is actually Softex. Regardless, we went with the Venza. Love it!
Only thing I dislike about the Venza is those rear turn signals😑😑
I dislike everything about it because it's another stupid, unnecessary, lame crossover/suv type vehicle.

11:17 absolutely right. Control knobs are essential vs soft touch keys.
You said you were going to pretend it’s a regular RAV4 then you start telling us all about the prime horsepower. Blocked.
Thanks for your tips it’s help me to choose right suv in the long run.
I'm liking the Venza now, but I still think I'll try and get a RAV4 I feel like I'll have more room in the back
Please note if you get a LE or XLE those modes. Have more bottoms and knobs for both the radio and climate controls.
It provides better space,
better driving experience on the road,
better fuel economy.
The fashion with SUV'S doesn't touch me.
The Camry has more legroom but a tad less headroom though
That said everything else I totally agree. I feel safer in a Camry than a rav4 due to its weight and stability
But I’d probably be torn with the XSE in either the hybrid or the v6
If i lived in America, i would choose of course the 2,5 liter or V6 for big trips.

Needed this review! currently shopping for these. Hope this helps me make my decision. Thanks Bey LOL
