    Ditto as well with most of these comments. It's a clean looking bike now and that exhaust is killer!!! Would love to hear it in person. Man that beast is quick.

      Quick for a HD, but a Diavel would destroy this thing and it is less money.

    As shown, how much did this thing cost? My guess is close to $40,000. In the US, the fxdr starts around $23,000. That's crazy, I can go get a V-Rod with the same power for about eight grand.

      Your Real Estate Expert That’s clearly not the intent of the video. This is simply a showcase of what can be done if you bring them your $23,000 bike, so you too, can be a badass.

    MNR - I love HD FXDR and now seeing what peeps are doing to it around the world #loveHD!!! I Still think two things this bike deserves 1. Some mid controls will make it ideal for those curves, yes that bike can lean. 2. A lower price, yes yes HD are expensive no matter the geo-loco but when you spend 20k+(USD) then the parts that mention I may want to consider Japanese Kawi 1300 or Suki Busa and upgrade the handlebars. Overall FANTASTIC job you and your mates are doin to theses HD. Keep up the awesomely great content!!!

    Nice VLOG Mark. I hated the stock bike when it was launched but this customised one is sweeeeet. I guess HD have to fit those ugly indicators etc on to get it certified for sale in most countries these days. They wouldn't get away with those tiny ones here in the UK. This bike is setup really well, I couldn't hear any decel pop. Mine has a screaming eagle tuner with V&H pipes and it still pops like mad!!!

Mostly mountains on this side, and all those mountains have beautiful winding roads. Checkout out my favorite places like Sedona, flagstaff, Prescott, Payson all the way down south by the border like Ruby, Patagonia, Bisbee, Mt Lemmon....and those are just easy popular areas. So much to see in Utah, Colorado, California, Montana, Oregon. Can’t forget Mexico and Canada as well.

    That's one of the best looking FXDR's i've seen so far. The pipe looks and sounds great. I still don't like the seat and tail unit, i couldn't live with low bars, and it needs a taller rear shock to improve ground clearance and speed up the steering. I see a lot of negativity about the FXDR, but i don't think Harley missed the mark by that much with it. Had it come with the 117 stock, less rake and a 180 rear, i think it would have sold much better. Harley have never put out a bike that i'm completely happy with. Even my FXDLS has needed a lot of money thrown at it getting it the way i want.

    • @1066serenity
      @1066serenity 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@woodengle I don't really like the Fat Bob. I prefer the more flowing lines of the Low Rider and Sport Glide, and i don't like the fat front tyre.

    • @1066serenity
      @1066serenity 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@woodengle I've owned an '18 Breakout and that handled much better than expected considering the geometry. Had the FXDR on loan for a couple of days and it's pretty much the same, but with more lean angle. Both bikes will turn quickly, but the long rake makes the front end feel vague when pushing hard. Sure the Fat Bob is more flickable, but as i said i'm not sold on the look. I much prefer my Low Rider S and Harley don't produce anything that is likely to make me want to trade.

  • @rnijhuis71
    @rnijhuis71 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Great video, man, fantastic bike. That exhaust sounds mean! I have a question though: You're talking about the low end torque in this video and how that is important to you in this Stage 4 as opposed to the high end performance. As far as I know the Stage 4 is specific for the high revs and for low end torque you better choose the Stage 3 instead. I am checking the parts list and see a Stage 2 torque cam, is that correct? Do you know what the rationale was behind that setup and are you at liberty to share the power figures? As an owner of a Stage 4 fxdr myself, I'm interested in other possible setups and their pros and cons. Thanks!

  • @adzee793

    Great vid. Why can’t harley design dept just employ a ‘regular’ bike modder. If they pumped out bikes like this surely they wouldn’t be struggling so much with sales??

    • @HooMeye
      @HooMeye 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Price wise it would be much more expensive to put a bike like this on the market. So this won't do sales any good either. The most gorgeous bikes from the factory will be personalized, Ducatis, Harleys, MV Augustas. Depending on the budget even the most expensive and best looking bikes will be modified to personal taste. Nothing is ever good enough. My 2019 Fat Boy is a very good looking bike and still I want to make changes to it. So the factories have to leave some space for personal mods and still be within the boundaries of most countries laws. And yes the modified bike shown is a very good looking bike, no discussion.

I have been riding 50 years with history of professional car/ motorcycle racing. Plus love the TFT screen. Harley’s should come from the Factory with Stage 4 not an additional expense. Both American motorcycle companies only offer ABS as electronic Safety devices.

    • @Firestorm637
      @Firestorm637 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sportbikes have horsepower for speed and Harleys have torque for acceleration. The Super Duke is the only engine that gives you both. 177 crank horsepower and 106 ft pounds of torque. By 3500 rpm the SD is already making 80 ft pounds vs other naked make that at high end rpm. By 7500 almost all ft pounds are there with red line 10,000. You say the SD is overpriced, no the Harley is overpriced. What does the 117 cost. Most the additional horsepower is at redline. Look at dyno. Most people do not drive around redline all the time. Plus only ABS with the Harley. Higher horsepower you need more electronic aids to control the power.

    GotDAMN that unit looks and sounds like a dream. This is the kind of bike H-D needs to be pushing out of the factory. Listen to that thing growl!

    I love the FXDR, only HD I've ever been interested in. I agree with some, the bike needs mid controls to get into those turns, and I really want to see a lower rear fender (hugger). I would like to see a lower price, but thinking that is just what it is. Very interested in seeing the custom aftermarket offerings in fairings, bars, fenders, pillion options and bags and how they are able to tie it all in together. My dream bike would be a naked low hugged fat tire, with a fairing/pillion/baggage add-on when needed. I also really want to see a full black Olins setup on this bike to give it more control. Great effort and build guys and that exhaust rocks! Cheers!

    All that money spent, and you end up with the exact same power as the V-Rod. That just goes to show you what a great bike the V-Rod really is! Harley-Davidson were a bunch of idiots for discontinuing it.

      I absolutely love my VRSCDX! Dropped a Stage 2 kit into her, brought her up to 134 hp @ the rear wheel, & giggle like a teenager every time I see everybody shrinking in my mirrors! Hell yeah!,

      I thought a stage IV on the M8 gave about 150HP at the rear wheel where the V-Rod had about 105 at the rear wheel. 50% more displacement and about 50% more power

    There are so many things I hate about the FXDR, So much so I would not buy one, Then there is this BEAST, I totally agree with you Mark, Harley-Davidson missed a trick, they should have built the FXDR like this one, it is totally AWESOME, Chris has made some excellent choices with the modifications, and I WOULD buy this bike!!!! AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME 👏🏻

      With all these mods a stock Suzuki M109 or a HD Vrod will still take it in a race. But I agree, it should have come from the factory with this power to back up it's muscle bike advertisements.

      @itsthejdquest 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      yeah that's just the stage parts cost. The actual install is even more expensive. This bike is probably in for about 10k in parts and service maybe more.

      @@markurbancowboy Yep, I own a M109R, this is unfortunately just another one of those stories I've heard so many times. My neighbour has a beautiful Street Glide (m8) and at work I park my bike next to a guy who has a stage 5 whatever .. maybe a S&S or screamin eagle kit.. he enthusiastically tells me he has spent 20k aud on the motor alone... my bike blows it, but his bike, has a big bore kit, a cam and is even louder than mine, his bike still handles and stops like a piece of shit that it is... I'm done. Oh, but it is the name that is "Harley Davidson". Don't get me wrong though, I do like harleys, just not thier riders pompus attitude.. aint nothin special. Hey im a huge fan of Thunderbikes FXDR... ... great looking bike. I've never posted anything like this before, I suppose I just get tired of the hype.

    If you're into accessible torque, then the stage III makes much more sense over the stage IV as it produces more accessible torque below 5.5k revs, so will be punchier all the time in the midrange. Awesome looking bike post mods. But not sure the 'lean angle is so good'! :-D

    • @Motonewbrider
      @Motonewbrider  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's got the torque cam installed rather than the power cam Richard. The lean angle is great however I guess it depends what you compare to.

    For having a Yosh pipe it actually sounds pretty gnarly. I think topend is over-rated if it can pull hard from the bottom and have a strong mid range for making passes at highway speeds seem effortless then that's all I need. That is one thing I have found Indian has done real well is pull gobs of torque out of their engines which pulls them big touring bikes out in traffic seem less daunting. I rode a chieftain with a stage 3 kit in it and good lord was it a beastly ride at 50 you can drop a gear or 2 and grab a handful and the rear tire will scratch a bit and away we go. I would love to ride a Street Glide with the 117 stage 4 back to back with a stage 3 116 Chieftain and see which one will give you the better pull in at highway speed transitions. That thing right there looks like a more traditional twist on what the V-Rod should have been from the start.
    I would love to one day go to the UK and blast around on a new Norton or built up Thruxton just to see what it is like to play with some British bikes in their homeland. I am not a brand loyale kind of biker I have owned numerous Harleys but I have owned some British bikes as well I had a 63 Triumph that was turned into a chopper, I had a Royale Enfield 500, and my buddy had a 73 Norton Commando which I have to say was quite the hotrod back in the day.
    Great video thanks for sharing and always keep the shiny side up brother, cheers!
