Great review, I've had mine for a month and its the best, from the factory, model I've owned. Went with the S&S as well, lay down number plate, under perch indicators, and a Memphis Shades Road Warrior. It's a keeper.
Had a 17 dyna s, with forward controls..loved it, handled like a dream....although it could be hard starting when warm....the 8 must step it up a notch
We have been waiting for this video, Motonewb! So glad you reviewed the new version of the Low Rider S. It looks amazing and how you draw comparisons to the Dyna version was really well done.
I got one , it’s in the shop getting a stage 4 117 kit Bassani 2 into 1 pipes and forward controls, already organised a heap more mods ! Love this bike
Hi Mate, what forward controls are you getting? Thinking the same. Ill just leave my at stage 2 as i have a CVO SG 117 stage 4. Bassani pipes on the way
Thank you for sharing. They are awesome machines. I rode one as a demo, and I too found the seating position kind of different. But I think I could learn to love it. You have a lot of leverage.
I Felt in love with harley davidson bikes recently. Your chanel is absolutely amazing and useful!!! cannot wait to pass my bike driving tests and hopefully own one of these beautiful bikes!!!
It really ruins the looks of the bike. I wonder why softail models don't come out with the number plate placed underneath the break lights (similar to the Sportster Iron 883).
The full rear fender is more in tune with what the Dyna/Club Style community was looking for. That's why Harley did it. That along with the risers, motoX bars, mid controls, etc.
Damn!! I wish I could afford one! If i was able to afford one it would either be between this or the Street Bob which I could modify to my liking. The mid controls are perfect for my height 5' 6 1/2", and with shortish legs. If anything, I'd like the brake pedal angled upwards a bit, or just an extension on it so it can actually be pressed down to some effect. I think for the money you get a lot more bike with the Lowrider S. To modify a Street Bob up to similar spec, forks, brakes, better seat etc, I imagine it would cost more than the price of the standard Lowrider S.
Great review as always! About that light clutch pull...cable clutch always lighter on Harleys. They can make the juice clutch much lighter. Otherwise great bike.
Wow. A beautiful scenery, some nice twisties...Enjoying the big v-twin torque at low speed but also opening it up on the long straight aways...You sir surely know how to enjoy a Harley properly. :D
I had one as a courtesy bike today and loved it. Great review. I totally agree with everything you said. My legs were a bit cramped (I’m 6’2”). Back brake was woeful. Number plate looks awful. Would still buy one though!!
Hm. It looks great, just as my old LRS. However, why did they remove the cruise control? Over all, I think the FatBob is a better deal. With the 114 it costs exactly the same (in Germany, at least) but you don't have to modify it as much. With the LRS you have to get forwards, a different rear fender and a new numberplate-mount. And you don't get cruise control, at all. You need new pipes on both bikes. So it would be the FatBob for me (which also gives better lean angle).
Put the heritage and fat bob shock on this bike. More lean angle and better ride. It will be done on mine before it comes home in February! Different bars, heated grips, 2 bros exhaust. Maybe a different seat.
Thanks for this. 1. It means Sykes now have a Lowrider S and 2. I get to see what 'my' bike will be like on UK roads. I say 'my' bike as I've ordered a Lowrider S from Sykes, for various reasons I can't take delivery until 2021 so they're not getting my bike in until June 2020 when they will start to mod it out to my specs (see below). Oh, and I dropped your name heavily to Sandy Cauldfield who I'm dealing with as a large part of the reason I ordered from Sykes (I'll be living 210 miles away in Stafford and there are many much closer dealers) is you and how they modded out Phat G. The more i see of this bike the less i like it. No question that the Softail chassis and suspension are a huge improvement, but the Dyna looks and sounds better. I have previously liked Triumph Thunderbird Motorcycles as well as Indian Motorcycles, when I was a younger lady, I am 62 years old now and recently recovering from cancer and depression, anxiety attacks, so to speak. ❤😂😢😮😅🎉
Are the risers on the Softail Lowrider S standard fitment? Another question, which is a better bike to ride, the Softail Lowrider S or a 2019 114 FatBob?

Great review but I do wish they were a little longer. I have a 2020 chromosexual version Low Rider and love it! Can't beat a bit of chrome buffing on a rainy day. Thanks
The rear brake is crap on Low Riders with the stock brake pedal as well. You really have to push down harder than usual (with purpose) for the rear brake to work as it should, albeit still not good as is should be. Mid controls are appropriate, makes sense, for a performance (in handling) model. HD got it right to put mids on this model in stock format. That said, forward controls work better for taller folk on the Low Rider.
You folks need to start a movement to have the license plates changed for motorcycles. That is nothing but a disgrace to have that big billboard on a motorcycle. I'm 5'7" and hate the mid controls. I had a hard time shifting and would definitely run with forward controls. Quick bike it is and handles great.
Be safe, I guess I am just too old but you worry me every time I watch you on your test course. I wish you had a closed course to to put the bikes through their paces.
Wrong about the new fender. The fender with the more traditional taillight is a direct response from H-D in regards to what the American "Club Bike" scene (which is exactly what the Lowrider S is taken from) likes in the looks of their bikes. It also harkens back to the much-beloved FXR bikes. H-D chose to listen to the market for the change. The old Dyna Lowrider S fender design was garbage. I have several Club Brothers who owned these models and hated the fender and only two side marker lights setup. BTW you Brits need to ditch the stupid ass license plates. They look like hell and are so big it's almost like a drag sail. But otherwise, a great review and that route looks very fun.
Funny that you don’t like the full fender or the mids, the reason Harley put those on there is that a lot of people that bought the dyna low rider S put full fenders and mids on them. It’s a SoCal thing, mids and risers handle better, and the full fender looks better than the bobbed fender.
Just bought one im 60. I thought i could put forward control s but you have to change inner and outer primary and with the frame these dont allow you to stretch out your legs. So next option is to put mustache crash bar to accomplish this the master cylinder is in the way so you have to relocate the master cylinder and the parts tec says harley said they doint make a part for this. I guess i can try to find aftermarket cause with my legnerve cond im in pain after a short time.
Scott Herring you don’t have to change the primary to go from mids to forwards, you just have to plug the holes where the shaft goes through. To go from forwards to mids you do have to change the primary however.
I can be ok. I'll get the forwards. Which dont come out far enough. Or put mustache bars and get a bracket made for master cly. So they will fit thanks for info man
Great review man! 🤘🏼
Hey Block, you going to put a Streetbob fender on yours ?? Oh wait, I forgot. You need to mount bags and a trailer hitch for pulling camera gear :)

I'm 6'1" and hate the forward controls. Mids best for me.
I'm 5'9" and I like the mid controls.
Be safe, I guess I am just too old but you worry me every time I watch you on your test course. I wish you had a closed course to to put the bikes through their paces.
Great review!!
How do you like the low rider s compared to the fat bob?
Thanks so much for info. I really appreciate it. Im going to get er done. Then break her in
I can be ok. I'll get the forwards. Which dont come out far enough. Or put mustache bars and get a bracket made for master cly. So they will fit thanks for info man
HDstreetshark Both LRS came with mids stock so not sure what you mean when you say ‘a lot of people put mids on them’ 🤷🏻♂️
Is this the EPA compliant S&S super street 2-1?
You showed your rider position but didn't tell us how tall you are ??
The license😂😂😂
