  • Harley Davidson Fat Bob 117 Stage 3 Review
The Fat Bob has always been a great performing HD in the softail range. With the added 117 Stage 3, it takes the performance to another level. It's important to understand the difference between stage 3 and stage 4 output and I cover this in basic layman's terms.

I'm looking at hopefully getting on a bike again next year after nearly 7 years of not having one. I was trying to decide between a used FXDR and the Fat Bob. The FB is slowly winning me over. I want to do the 117 Stage III kit as well and put a black Screamin' Eagle high-flow exhaust system on it. Awesome review!

Hi Mark, i follow your vlogs for abt 3 yrs. From the 883 to the customization of the 48 and so on. The Quality of your vlogs are great! From my perspective one of the best. The sound, the riding experience, the surroundings, all included very good! When you ever look or have time for annother bike, i can recomend you the R nineT Pure and a customisation project would be nice. Anyway succes with new series and thanks fo the enjoyable vlogs!

Welcome back. what a great start the Fat bob. i have the 2019 114 version. i have had a stage 1 put on it and i have changed the position of the number plate. i have added an engine guard and detachable sissy bar. also heated grips and cruise control. the bike is awesome. i have taken it out in the winter, but can't wait for spring to be here and we can go for descent rides out.

I agree with everyone here. My 2020 Fat bob is amazing. It's a 114 Stage II with a screaming eagle ventilator air cleaner and a Two Brother Racing 2 into 1 pipe. Trask performance kit for the transmission and oil pump. S&S 475 Cam. Bike is ready for stage IV if I want to do it. Not sure I really need to. I can already almost not shift fast enough as it is. I've added many comedic touches all over the bike. Saddleman seat and a taller sissy bar are easy to see. Also added 2.5 inch risers but left the stock handlebar. Swung the mirrors underneath but right mirror isn't very useful. To many other little touches to put here with out another paragraph. Bike is a head turner wherever I go.

    Bad points.
Rear brake is crap, needs new foot pedal and re-positioning.
Rear shock keeps bottoming out on the supposed "correct setting" keep turning it up. (too many pies).
Number plate and light need re-positioning.
    Needs locking gas cap.
    Gearbox really clunky.
    Needs a nose fairing.
Nowhere to even put your wallet or a packet of smokes.
Stock exhaust is gold.....I mean really? WTF?
    Upgrades are horrendously expensive.
    Good points.
